Wonderful and informative video. I became fascinated by the perfume making process in India (Business Insider RU-vid episode) and have just placed my first Attar order of 7 bottles by M. L. Ramnarain-many featured in this video. I’m even more excited now because of your beautiful descriptions. Many thanks!
Nikhil, I haven’t seen another man that can rock a mustache quite like you, friend. Keep it classy brother 👍🏻 As always enjoyed your content! Also many many thanks for all the great attars you’ve introduced me to. 🙏🏼✌🏼
Nikhil, have seen few of your videos, u r too good and I m amazed with your depth in knowledge regarding ittar. I have started using ittar recently n I m loving it
Nikhil Sahib, I stumbled on one of your videos by chance 2 days ago and I’m now determined to watch your entire series. This is perfume chat that is accessible and engaging! I lived in Delhi for many years and used to love finding perfumers and attar suppliers in the Old City. Your videos stir up so many great memories. Thanks for posting these and future editions. I only wish you’d come to the US and teach a basic, hands on course.
I wasn't an attar person 4 months ago. I had actually brought one because I wanted to get a strong perfume during my travel that was small enough to fit in my pocket (the western bottles take a lot of space, and its usually not travel friendly). I actually loved the smell, and wanted to try to search the internet about its constituents. Your videos were the first to inform me about it letting me know that it was a oud preparation(found out later that it was a synthetic oud) and the concept behind using oud as a perfume. I fell in love with your videos and your way of presenting the Indian side of things(unfortunately I wasn't aware of such rich Indian history when it comes to perfumes as well). Its been 4 months(almost 5), and for some reason, I have become a big fan of traditional attars, absolutely love them. I currently have no plans to return to the western perfumes when I can use a much better perfume (just my opinion), straight out of my pocket whenever and wherever I want. PS: recently brought an attar shamama(unfortunately I do not know the house it came from), and it absolutely smells divine. PPS: Thank you a lot Sir for making such informative, easy to understand videos for the general public and letting them know about the rich perfume industry in India. Jai Hind !
Just tried , ruh khus and shamama. Your description could not be anymore accurate. They are so vivid and pleasant instant mood lifter. Thank you paaji.
Thank you ever so much for your work here and for sharing your passion. I just simply wanted to tell you how much I sincerely appreciate and enjoy your channel. I can feel your love for and commitment to understanding what moves you, and that approach deeply resonates with me and lifts my spirit. Thank you. Btw, here in the US, there is a lovely company I have purchased many Indian (and other) products from: White Lotus Aromatics. I have no affiliation with them whatsoever, and have no intention of pushing their products. I only mention them to you personally as I truly believe that you may enjoy their blog. They haven't posted there for a while, but I'm hoping that you will enjoy learning about them and their journey in India. I hope that you will understand that I'm sharing this from the heart with no ulterior motive, in the hopes that you will enjoy it and feel inspired learning about kindred spirits across the globe. I thank you for all of your recommendations and look forward to exploring with you and our community. Sending love, light, and prayers for you and all who are here.
Oh my goodness, thank you so much for your kind words. I apologize that I was not aware of the scope of your pursuits. I hope that you will please accept my sincere thanks and appreciation for everything you have shared.
Hi Nikhil, I started following your channel for last six months. Your channel is the most informative channel about perfume. You not only review the perfumes and attars but also explain the aspects about fragrance. Based one your earlier review about Ruh Khus, shamama and other attars from kannauj, I had ordered Ruh Khus and Attar Miiti from M.L.Ramnarain. These attars are the best and I now prefer these attars than Western perfumes. This week I received jannet e ward and shamama. I think all these are smells divine and cannot be substitued. Thanks for introducing to these oils and attars. They are not very expensive for theier quality. Thank you once again for all the information you are sharing with us.
I love your depth and passion on this subject. It is an absolute treat to listen to you talk about these fragrances. I'd love to buy my first ittar very soon. Thanks a lot! 🙂🙏
Like you, I love the scents of perfumes, by making ourself, Your videos are very good. Those like us who love PERFUMES and try to make it, are interested in watching more videos like this
Dear Nikhil, this video is really the answer of my prayers!! I was so into traditional attars 4 years ago, but also searching alone.. So after a fine mitti, and a wonderful sandalwood oil, the oud attar purchase which was a disaster, stopped me from exploring farther. Now i feel confident with your help to continue. Thanks so much for this! I am constantly in awe with your knowledge and sensitivity :)
Well nikhil I am from Kannauj and ironically a attar munfacturer ....so far shamama maker I can proudly say that shamama runs in my veins I am 6th generation of attar manufacturer of my family...
I am very lucky that I have all these attars which are reviewed...as I am very old subscriber some 2 years or may be 1.6 years back Nikhil has done the review and I bought it...most important thing M L Ramnarain perfumer Mr.Pranjal bhai is very humble and respond to the all customers and reply there msgs....Guys you must have all these attars in your collection. 👍
Oh my I missed this video - haha - this is great, I'm so happy that we are lucky enough to be able to try such an ancient tradition, by such professional artisans. I'm sad to think that they might not pass down their trade to the next generation. These are artifacts meant to be cherished. Ruh Khus is beautiful, it has a peanut oil undertone, with a soapy and Smokey vetiver note, the oil is very thick and sticky. I have the Ajmal variety.. French Vetiver (Terre D'Hermes, Timbuktu, Encre Noire) to me is more based around the isolated molecule Vetiveryl Acetate. Description of Vetiveryl Acetate: (All the velvety-smooth character of the best vetiver, but without the harshness or smoky-notes that can be present in the natural oil. Produced from vetiver oil from Haiti - widely regarded as the best you can buy. This is the very top quality of acetylated vetiver oil.) Is Mehndi also referred to as Hina? I have this "Hina oudh" attar, it has a nice powdery, sweaty, woody note.. Jasmine I've seen also under the name Raat Ranni (this could be the night blooming variety only)
Ajmal Ruh khus is so so....i think they sell 2 grades of RUH khus Grade A and GRADE AA.........if you really want to enjoy you can get AGED RUH KHUS it does not have thoes harsh rootTy earthy notes its has very sweet smell.....TUST me you will forget every HAITIAN VETIVER.......yes MEHNDI is also called hinna........Raat ki rani is a variety of jasmine flower that blooms at night.....its an nocturnal flower also known as HARSINGAR and its attar is called RUH HARSINGAR
@@abhisheknarayandhyani731 I've since found THE best vetiver, it's called Vetiverol ex Haitian Vetiver, and's its the vetiver alcohol. If you mix some of this with Veteveryl Acetate, South Indian vetiver, cashmeran, and methyl pamplemousse, and alpha-hexyl cinnamic aldehyde you have a bad ass Vetiver Attar (in fact thats how Encre noire is made). South Indian vetiver and Haitian vetiver aren't similar, they are different oils. You'll find large amounts of Khusimol in Haitian vetiver, funny not so much in South Indian vetiver.
@@david-Davidson i have tried Vetiverol ex Vetiver Haiti compositions no denying its a fantastic material and i also own several other Haitian Vetiver oils from different distillers and i appreciate them.......But i was not talking about South indian vetiver i was talking about North indian vetiver in south india vetiver is acquired via Steam distillation and it is brown in colour just like Haitian vetiver but in North india it is acquired via Hydro distillation in Copper pots which gives it green colour from reacting with copper.......What i am asking you to just try Minimum 20 years Aged NORTH INDIAN vetiver i.e ALIGARH RUH Khus trust me you will love it..
@@abhisheknarayandhyani731 Thank you for the information, this made things more clear to me. I will try some aged North Indian if I get a chance to buy some! Any recommendations?
Dr Nick Ruh Khus from MLR is the best Atr or scent on this planet. Pls don’t let anyone tell you otherwise. I am going to order a whole kilo of it. I blended it with Indian oud and Ruh Gulab and I am in heaven. Thanks so much.
Nikhil bhai I am watching your videos from bangladesh and I love the way you describe everything to the viewers. I learned a lot from your videos: the difference between natural and synthetic itr, different types of itrs like shamama, ruh khus, ruh gulab, oud, loban, mitti, kashmir and the list goes on. I saw the distillation process of S. MD Ayub MD Yaqub and obviously the distillery of M.L. Ramnarain with Zakir bhai and Pranjal bhai. And still I am learning from you everyday and inspired by you. Thank you for the hard work you are giving to the itr industry bhai. I am not sure how to purchase these attars from Bangladesh and most importantly, will it be delivered in our country or not. So I am planning to visit india so that I can travel and at the same time buy some itrs from there. What will be Your recommendation?
Nikhil bhai, u said that gulab oil is 25 lakh per Kg, but oil are measured in litter, Please tell that# rose oil 1 kg# is how much litter Is it more than one litter
i think it also makes a difference if you dry the vetiver or distill it fresh. maybe dried vetiver which is steam distilled is browner in colour and fresher one is hydro distilled and greener in colour
Sir I am a recent subscriber. You earned my respect!!! Amazing info you give which is difficult to know. I love perfumes but u introduced me to world of Attars. I used to think they are cheap substitute s for perfumes. But now their legacy is nearly royal in exclusivity. I am your big fan now. Pls pls keep the videos coming. Where can I get shamama attar from s.Mohammad ayub MHD yakub of kannauj.???
How can someone accuse of you of fake reviews? I myself have contacted ml ramnarain and the reply was so detailed and enlightening!!! Thanks for showing us such beautiful things.
Hello nikhil bhai in this video at 5.55 you said khus is Rs. 1500 for quarter टोला? And before that you said 50000 for किलोग्राम, I am not picking out your mistakes, I was just getting confused so I asked. ONE MORE THING Nikhil bhai you are like institution of attar world for me, I really like when you reply on my commants. Really like the way you speak. Words you choose to describe something and your emphasis on correct pronounceation make it more adorable... Love you for passion👍👍
Nikhil Sir can you make a video and introduce us, your fascinated viewers about Mitti attar? And guide us how we can buy the right mitti attar? And which brand will be better?
Hello Nikhil bhai. Greetings from Kolkata. I am 26 and never was into perfumes till the day I stepped onto your channel. Love you for that. Didnot know we had such a deep rooted heritage of our own. Thank you. Got myself 10ml of Ruh Khus from ML Ramnarain since they are the only good Kannauj based perfumers who also has an outlet in Kolkata. Have already fallen in love which Khus. Over the counter body sprays have become a pain in the nose literally. Now, for me, natural is the way to go. Thinking of procuring Attar Mitti next. What according to you is the best pure Ruh Khus available in India? Where do you suggest I get Attar Mitti from?
A treat to watch. Recently i purchased ruh khus... ₹1000 per tola. Its too good. I also got a mix... 1/4 tola of white rose in 3/4 tola of ruh khus to get two tone smell
Another excellent video. Re Ruh Gulab - you mentioned that it is on a base of sandalwood. I thought ruh/EO implies that it is the essential oil distillation without any base. Can you please clarify, bhai?
Kudos to you Bro Nikhil for doing a wonderful job of Introducing Indian Attars to the world. Honestly the new generation perfumers will definately get inspired by your videos, and passionately showcase their creative skills.
My god you explain so well! Suggestion: Your video thumbnail looks like another random consumer review, because of which I was avoiding video for while until I finally clicked. If you get a more professional looking thumbnail and a more aesthetic background, this video would be super good!
Dear Nikhil, I believe most of the Indian Attars uses DOP / IPM / Mygliol etc... synthetic base in recent times and Ruh oils do not have any base material. Of course some attars are exceptions like Shamama. Is Ruh Gulab traditional distilled on the Sandalwood base?
I tried moshen shamama from smd ayub , i was not able to understand any scent other then oily smell any recommendations what i could do different ❤ to understand natural attar
Hey Nikhil, I have been following your videos and enjoying every bit of it. Could you also make a video on Attar layering along with the combinations that you love....thanks
what about gulab signh johrimal's ruh kus? is that one as good? i ordered some from someone online, i payed about 1500 rupees for 3ml. but this is what i payed, maybe they payed less. what can you tell me about their grade of ruh khus?
Big fan of your channel and have watched many of your videos. Please pardon my ignorance but I'm from the USA and have been intrigued by your reviews of Safari Extreme and the more luxurious Safari Oil. I've experimented with Byredo, Parfums de Marly, Creed, and of course designer but never any of the scents from the middle East. What would be two or three scents you would suggest for someone wanting to explore fragrances from this part of the world. So far I'm thinking the two safaris but don't know where else to start.
It seems I was meant to try this fragrance. Someone notified me of an ASQ46 promotional code that took 46% off orders! I didn't hesitate at all, ordered the safari oil instantly lol, so excited for it to arrive. I'll be honest though, I was tempted to use the code on the more expensive $300 -$600 fragrances just to get my hands on them but I decided against it. Like all luxury goods, if you don't work your way up the ladder of quality, you'll lose all the appreciation for the highest end goods.
i love your videos. i came recently in the perfume world and im tentalized. im glad i founded you. i always learn a lot listening to you and it poke my curiosity so much its unbearable haha im starting my nose discovery. i tried to get my hand on the ruh khus but the company dont sell or ship in america yet sadly ...not a lot of attar in montreal... anyway thanks a lot for all your time.
Hi Niklhil, I realy want to know. If the smell is quite strong enough why should I sniff close to my nose in order to know the smell of attar/fragrances ?
Hi Nikhil, I love both your channels, listening to your reviews I have bought few ittar and perfumes. Recently I had been to Mecca and I bought Black kalemat, I loved it.. Meantime I got the same perfume as a gift by my cousin in this trip. Iam planning to sell one.. Could you please provide the information or any sites to sell my perfume..Thank you..
Jannat e vardh by r l nairain , where we buy it? I was directed to neesh impex pvt ltd as i was told they do the retail for r l narain but did not find this jannat e vardh, could u please direct me to the same?
Can you focus on other ingredients besides Oud and Attar please ? In the western world the trend is dying out.. you have very interesting, insightful and educational information and I’d love to learn about other ingredients and perfume genres.
Hi Nikhil , have a question regarding Khus fragrance. Would you be able to advise as to what the difference is between Vetiver oil and Ruh Khus ? Thanks.
+Exotic Scents Thanks Nikhil. Also why the difference is in colour. is it because vetiver oil does not undergo oxidation and therefore not green as Ruh khus ? what your preference will be ... vet oil or ruh khus given that they both are from vetiver ? again thanks for your feedback.
