A lively performance at the Chamorro Village’s, Wednesday Night Market in Guam. This was quite a blast and a spirited performance by these beautiful girls, holding torches and performing a Tahitian dance.
sungho2222 You are probably right, I was on vacation with my wife and saw them performing, since it was in that area of Guam, I assumed thats what they were doing! TX for letting me know and Merry Christmas!
^_^ No prob. Unfortunately Guam has a problem with showing Chamorro dancing. Most of the time hotels focus on Polynesian dancing. When I was in Guam I experience this too.
There's nothing worse than seeing people exhibit other cultures in place of their own. It gives a false message to the youth who need to embrace their own cultural art.
These dance teachers are straight from TAHITI OR HAWAII !! They are just advertising Polynesian culture because Guam is so close to Asia, that tourist are more likely to visit first
I'm so disappointed now as a cookislander,Tahitian,Samoan, hawaiin, and Tongan Pacific Islander it's really annoying to see that the Guam people are stealing us cookislander and Tahitians dancing they should stick to their own dance!
+Shonteyer Marsters siaosi We are Chamorro, and no one can steal anyones dances... In fact I know this is not how Chamorros dance, it bothers me to see this, I cannot say why they are doing it etc. Other than Chamorro Village is big on tourists and they should be performing our dances to promote the Chamorro Culture. Its like me saying why are you Ploy people steal us Micronesian peoples Calrose? You cannot eat that too....
I'm a chamorro cultural dancer and it's quite obvious that this isn't our traditional dance. It's not the fact that we're stealing anything maybe their just spreading your type of dance. I mean there's all types of dances that are performed, it doesn't mean that we're stealing them.
Ummmm the dance teachers for these groups on Guam are straight from TAHITI OR HAWAII !!!! They are just advertising the Polynesian culture for tourist because Guam is so close to Asia... that tourist are more likely to visit Guam first !!! So like I just said .... it’s just advertisement
