Using images of garments and knitters, Melissa Weaver Dunning shares the history behind fishermen’s ganseys, Fair Isle multicolored patterned knitting, Aran cable knitting and delicate Shetland lace. This program is co-sponsored by Loudoun County Public Library and the Fiber Guild of the Blue Ridge.
ABOUT THE PRESENTER: Melissa is a traditional hand-weaver and spinner with 40 years of experience working on antique equipment to produce textiles in an 18th and 19th century style. She began her traditional textile study with Scottish master weaver Norman Kennedy in 1980, and she carries on this rich tradition in her own teaching. An avid tartan and linen weaver and a lover of wool, Melissa enjoys sharing her passion for weaving and spinning with students.
