This is the right line of thinking but I would take it a step further. I think he would come in as number 2. For the Spurs to compete as a championship contender they will need another player better than Trae. So basically asking could he accept being the 3rd option in the long term.
Feel like Trae would have to change his game. No way Pop would be cool with him throwing up 30 footers 12 seconds in to the shot clock. Plus if they get Trae they have to get other long wing players to compensate for what he lacks on defense.
@@eddieogun Fair enough. I didn't watch many Hawks games this year, but for those that I did watch: the thing that stood out to me is that he took more of those kinds of shots than anyone else I was watching.
Zero percent chance Trae can handle what he would need to be in San Antonio. Spurs players don't hold the ball for more than a few seconds, the focus is all about the team and sacrificing. No way Pop deals with Trae and handles his tendencies. No way Trae wants to be a clear sidekick to Wemby. Its just not happening
This trade isn't happening for Either sides. Pop doesn't want Trae, and as a Hawks fan, there's nothing "we" want from SA, unless a full rebuild with picks. So, I wish the "experts" would give this one a rest.
Bro crazy they say this because Trey has always handled fights and everything well in the nba he has never been in trouble and he do his job with Wemby being able to play defense for him they could work really well
@@4ktkaram395 If a superstar is a guy who leads your team to a first round exit at best, then yeah he is a superstar. If you're talking about winning basketball games, he is the farthest thing from superstar. So much so the Hawks are trading him instead of Murrey because he aint that good
Trae young is not going to the Spurs. They are drafting a PG this offseason. Why would they pick a PG if Trae is coming and they already have Vassell at SG?
@@killiemucken If they get a chance, they should get Zaccharie Risacher. He is perfect for Wemby. I think a big first overall pick (for 4th and 8th) trade with Atlanta paired with taking Trae off their hands for a solid price, could be a very strong way to speed up their build around Wemby. But Trae isn't a Pop PG, and Pop likes to build teams slow and methodical. Meanwhile Atlanta are going to want Alex Sarr and are not going to make the trade cheap. I don't think Topic is the right pick for the Spurs but he is still a top 10 pick overall and wouldn't be a bad 4th round pick if Zaccharie Risacher is off the table as a top 3 pick or if Alex Sarr is somehow left off the table. That being said, I might not want to pass up on Reed Sheppard, worst case Spurs are gunning for a floor general in the following year's drafts or possibly even by trade, keeping Sheppard as a backup PG and solid shooter. Tidjane Salaun is a strong candidate for their 8th round pick that is really going under the radar. I also wouldn't count Stephon Castle out, his defensive game is not being valued enough, although I don't see him running a team's offense as a PG, so he'd stay a combo guard leaving that playmaker PG slot open for future drafts. But Stephon Castle likely has a future somewhere else because he doesn't have a good 3 so he won't be one of the 3 and D players the Spurs would want if they choose not to invest in Topic as their starting PG.
Trae Young has a much higher chance to end up on the Lakers (where the fit with AD is arguably better than the fit with Wemby), than he is coming to San Antonio, taking a back seat to Wemby and Vassell and playing off ball (the number 1 thing Trae doesn't want to do)
Spurs are intrigued at the idea. Completely hard no on the price tag. The spurs have been reported to have zero interest in giving Atlanta their picks back. Atlanta wants there picks back to blow up and start over. So, all this Atlanta talk is waste of air. Unless Atlanta takes there picks back lottery protected
I just don't like how much he gets paid. He makes crazy threes at times but he is really not efficient.i think tre Jones was actually shooting at a much better clip from 3 last season. Not as much volume as young but we don't really need volume, besides I like castle at the 1 down the road unless we acquire a good 3 or 4 through trades or free agency.
The important question for Trae is, what is he gonna do when he doesn't have the ball in his hands? Victor isn't a rim runner big cathcing lobs. Sh, he's a better pulled up 3pt shooter than Trae last season.
In NBA2K I am taking Young, if trying to maximize Wembanyama IRL a shoot first point guard is not a great idea. Victor needs the ball in his hands with spacing and let him cook.
Why would the Spurs go for Trae? Is Dejounte untouchable, or did he and Pop or the Spurs have beef? If he’s not untouchable and he didn’t have any issues with the Spurs, they should look to trade for Dejounte, no?
