I had seen this video a couple of times and finally tried the ranch dressing thing. OMG, it was absolutely fantastic! We just finished eating dinner and I couldn't wait to add a comment, because everyone should try this. I used Dirty Bird poultry rub on eight chicken thighs, then coated them with ranch dressing and let the pieces sit in the refrigerator for a couple of hours. After that, I cooked the chicken on the Traeger at 375 for about an hour. I flipped the pieces a couple of times and cooked until multiple thermometers indicated 170 degrees and then we had one fantastic dinner. The chicken was juicy as can be and oh so flavorful! Thanks for the video!

Winner winner. CHICKEN dinner. Or Lunch. Today I'm going to give this a try today. Looks delicious 😋 EDIT: They turned out great! I substituted Meat Church Honey Hog Hot and Meat Church Holy Gospel rubs for the Traeger seasoning. The ranch gave it a great flavor. We will definitely be making them again :-) Thanks for sharing.

Just watching on my phone so it’s a small screen, but it looked like some pieces were skin side up and some skin side down? Is there any method to that? I’ve heard different things about it. Planning to do my first ever smoke this week so I need lots of tips:)

It’s a ThermoPro TP-17

That ThermoPro is a great probe thermometer I’ve used them for years. If you’re on a budget go to WalMart and pick up the GrillMaster. 20 bucks. I bought 3 and they work just as well as the fancy smancy ones. As a matter of fact the Grill Master has a longer remote range.

When seasoning use a baking sheet and drop the dry seasoning higher up.. You'll get a much more even coating

Why did you open the lid when you turned it on? Aren’t you supposed to start it with it closed?

No. You have to start with the lid open or gases can build up and it will blow up. While it's doing it's initial start up on the smoke setting, you always have the lid open. don't take me as the expert....there are other videos out there that will talk about the science behind this.

@@charlesperry8970 The Trager is electric. If there are any gases coming out of the grill this may be a scientific break through 😆. When you start the grill and it’s on smoke a LOT of smoke is generated. An open grill just disperses the smoke faster. No explosions with a electric pellet grill. If there were I would have blown up several houses and a couple of church functions😂.
