A sign truck made for the sole purpose of installing traffic signs. Take a tour of Napa County's very own sign truck. A must for any sign shop.

Looks like a great job on the build. I was a installer for the City of Peoria Az back in the day and our old flatbed based Dodge 1 tons were up for replacement in 2004. I had worked there for 5 years and trucks were on a 7 year replacement cycle. They had no clue when they had the city garage throw together 2 trucks by basically mounting toolboxes and a Stanley Hydraulic power unit. They had a carwalk running the length of the bed to stand on for taller installs that had no fall protection whatsoever and just had 10 and 12 ft. Telespar just laying in the bed so if you were ever rear ended, that telespar would go right through the windshield and impale someone. Its was a rolling OSHA violation x 10. Anyway, I designed a new truck, specing it all the way to having the truck ordered with bucket seats, so that we could install a work station with a mount for new Toughbook laptops, a full console we could write work orders on and keep paperwork in and other smaller items we used. We had a DMI as this was pre GPS use when designed, eventually went to GPS. It had a 14 ft utility body with the front 3 feet used as a platform for the HP unit, the hose reel, water jug, fold up ladder and saddle compartment that was open on top for anchors. Just aft of that was a 6 ft tall transverse compt. for signs, a high powered inverter as we used corded tools at that point, the Stanley hydraulic powered post puller, and other large items. We worked off the top of the truck 75 percent of the time (used lightpoles as much as possible) so on top of the 6 ft tall compt we put a 3 ft. tool compt for wrenches, sockets, banding equipment, and install tools. We also had a compt above rear wheel that had all that same equipment that we in the upper compt. It eliminated having to go up and down if you need something. We made the rear bumper a compt for shovels, tampers and long tools. Put slip proof material on all surfaces we walked on. We doubled floored it so we put all our 10 12 footers under the floor of the bed in its own compartment so not having to trip over it (they called it a coffin box). Bent post were cut up and taken back to be recycled. I would add a compt for tools you use when using the catwalk up near the catwalk. Makes life much easier. Being more efficent with the design of the truck, and letting the people who use it design it tripled our productivity. We had the bodies custom built by a company called AG Body out of Salt Lake City..Sorry so long, nice job on the truck..

Can we please see a video of the paper work you use for signs? I’m a fellow sign man and I work for the county as well. I’m enjoying your channel and content! Thanks!!
