Every single poreless primer I have ever tried has made me more oily, made my pores look more pronounced, and has made my makeup look horrible. Same goes for any mattifying primer I have ever tried. After decades of having severely oily skin and not being able to find anything to keep my oils at bay, I have just decided to look like a greasy sausage patty every day. At least I don’t have wrinkles and no one thinks I’m in my mid 40’s. Lol.

Same. Fought my oily skin for years and finally accepted there is nothing I can do to stop the oiliness. A good foundation with a satin finish in a thin layer, maybe a bit of powder, do keep it under control and do an infinitely better job than any mattifying primer I've ever tried. Do I stay matte all day? No. But does my entire face slide off? Also no. Just a fact of life that my oils will come through eventually anyway and honestly, even when they do, the makeup looks much better than it did when they came through primer, where it got all patchy, "dotty," flake-y or whatever it did. And after all these years, I've come to the conclusion that oily looks better than dry as a prune anyway 🤷‍♀

Have you tried moisturizers. I know it sounds weird but a lot of the time over using products to take away your oils makes you over produce oils in retaliation. Granted this is a pretty common tip at this point so you probably have, but I just wanted to put it out there. Overall you just need a dermatologist and if you're fine with it don't because I know access to one is hard.

@@an__g_oI work a physical job so while I'm not particularly oily I get sweaty, so I focused more on foundations that wear off more seamlessly than stay all day because that's easier to control. Looking like my makeup is coming off is infinitely worse than my makeup coming off and no one noticing.

Love how this make up matched perfectly with your shirt! I‘d love to see more of these colored styles, but wearable ones for ppl like me who don’t have really a clue but like to try out some colors. It's mesmerizing watching you do this eye makeup tutorial! At 53 years of age, I came of age in the era of Bobbi Brown when the makeup emphasis was on natural and neutral, and as intrigued as I've always been with colors, I've never had the courage to create an eye look like what you did here. I suffered through the “longest drugstore tutorial ever,” lol. But actually, there was no suffering. For someone like me - an OG of ADHD who often can’t finish shorts - I loved every second of this. This should be the new standard for all makeup tutorials on RU-vid: Get to the point; stick to the point; teach something new; demonstrate application; clearly express the opinion of products used; be professional; be likable. I think the backdrop washes you out - I would go with something that is neutral but richer, or maybe something more contrasting/bright/dark.

I really enjoy your videos! You asked about the peach background. Although it’s very pretty, I don’t think it serves you well. It’s very bright and competes with you👎🏼. I think you’ve used a blue or a green background before and it plays nicely in the background, allowing you to be the focal point. Wishing you continued success! 💜

Thanks Alex for giving me something to watch while I lay on the bathroom floor hung over from my bfs 29th bday. For the first time I think the hangover was worth it. I do the same thing. But alcohol is a depressant.. so it makes sense why it causes anxiety and such. Get some electrolytes in you and it takes the edge off!
