I'm still a super huge fan of the show and watch it every week and even the the "Bloodline" series with Harris. The one person I miss the most from the show is Capitan Phil. Was the best one in that show and had the most humanity.
I agree I was working at a marina in Montauk during the late 2000s I watched the show religiously Captain Phil was my favorite too it was sad when he passed
I got to rent a house from Edgar down in Sarasota. Met him and his wife, both are super cool and down to earth people. Edgar is exactly the same in real life as he is on the show. Cool, calm, collected and very friendly.
Definitely, probably the reason most people watched this..."wtf? Edgar's dead?!?!" Very cynical "advertising ". If they feel, that they have to stoop to this, there can't be much confidence in the content? I won't be liking or subscribing. Think it's the first time I've selected thumbs down.
Edgar was one of the most knowledgeable and likeable deckhands, engineer and pilots on the Bering sea.....He always found a way to temporarily or permanently fix any problem with the boats he was working on.....I for one miss him on the show......

Commentator: you need to go watch the series again to find out why Edfar left the ship. He had to have back surgery to fuse a couple of discs together. He even brought the x-rays to show Sig, but all big brother cared about was what would happen to his season. Maybe something did happen with Edgar later but that doesn't have anything to do with Edgar leaving the boat. Sig didn't even care about his brother's surgery or back. A lot different when it was Sig's turn with the heart attack. You saw a caring brother in Edgar at that time. Sig cares about Sig only.

I love this SHOW and also CRABS.I use to complain about the PRICES but after watching this show I NO LONGER complain.These people RISK their LIVES for my EATING pleasure and MANY of them LOSE them. GOD please help them get back to shore SAFELY!

Hard to say if it was true but if it is and I was Sig I would have tossed his ass overboard and let him freeze/drown and say he fell over the rail. Not trying to be the tough guy but when it comes to my kids I will do anything to someone that harms them.
Some people take a plea deal as guilty in fear of getting a worse sentence than if they tried to prove their innocence. BUT… these people are typically repeat offenders. In some of those cases, the crook might even be innocent but based on his record he feels he’s better off taking the deal. I’m Edgar’s case, I doubt he would have pleaded guilty if he didn’t do it. It seems he was a first (and let’s hope last) time offender, so he had no record. He pleaded guilty out of shame or because the girl was very credible and had a strong case.
What's the big deal, he laid on a teenage boy.I have seen to do the thing . Laid hands on my wife's daddy before we we'd. He is still doing 2 life terms. If I had to do it over I would have killed him.

the one thing I wish the "older" captains would change & that is their attitudes of..."you got to do it on your own....go figure it out yourself...no I'm not going to help you because I was never helped". Gawd I hate that...!! They do not realize the wedge they are putting between the older Big Brother type Captains to the younger ones. i was the head of a 6 man working crew and get surgery of my back. doctor said i had to be laying 14 days and my Boss meant i can work after 2 days off. it was the same like with edgar. i brought x.ray to my boss but he doesn't care. i did a proposl i come to work after 7 days, in germany i get fully paid those 14 days so why should i accept 7 days but i did the proposl, my Boss said NO i give you 2 days off. so we get in an argument and at the end he fired me after like 15 years which i worked for him. the sad thing was, the company closed after 6 month later and my boss died few weeks later. none of this would have happen if i had come to work after 7 days off

Sadly.... unfortunately.... I know that accepting a plea bargain does not mean that you comitted the crime. I so not know if Edgar did what he basically ADMITTED to doing, but I KNOW that the jurystigical system in the US is harsh, somewhat biased, often unfair to male accused in allegations like this (english is not my first language, I may not have used the correct words... I hope you get the meaning). For whatever it is worth: IMO Edgar seems to be one of the better, nicer ( because he has survived basically hell in his addictions) persons sailing on the SEVEN seas. Whatever, i pray for all concerned parties.

@cherry bomb I will point out that plenty of the people found to be actually innocent via the Innocence Project also pleaded guilty and many of those were were sexual crimes. Now you might argue that if they pleaded guilty they have to be but thats just not how our legal system works. Accusations are almost always more than enough to destroys someones life. Police often inflate the amount of evidence they have to get someone to plead guilty as they do not need to show evidence until discovery in trial. So they can make up evidence to get you to confess, that is a well known tactic of the police that they admit to using. While I do not know if Edgar did commit this crime but pleading guilty just means you plead guilty it does not mean you were actually guilty as we have seen with so many cases that are reopened decades later and proven that the person who pleaded guilty was in fact innocent and the real predator got away. Now before you try to "Negate" what I wrote here, I too was the victim of sexual assault. I have family members who are in prison right now for rape and have been in prison since their 16 year they are in their mid 30s. So if you want to play victim cards I have a full hand... lets go.

Ive been a tree climber for 20 years and i started out with a crazy rare crew in 2000 that drank and did drugs so i adopted those habits....off n on doing drugs depending who i was with and where i was in life....the last 10 years i dated an awesome girl but she loved to drink and do drugs so i would regularly go out and make 2-500.00 per day and every night bring drugs to top of the dresser....its hard to be so much to everyone

I think the crab money fuels those addictions just fine . There are loads of crab fisherman hooked on drugs and booze that are not on TV or paid by a show . Edgar had addiction problems long before he was ever on t v same with Phil harris which is why he is dead same for nick mglaushin .TV money did not turn these guys into addicts blaming tthe TV show is silly . Nobody was forced to be on tv . Addiction is rampant especially pain pills and opioids which is caused by pain from fishing and too much free time and money in the offseasons. Ir you compare the amount addictions and deaths of crabs fisherman not on tv it's far more death than people who were on this show and died . The tv show is not causing more addiction and death then crab fishing does . These guys do not need the TV show they make huge money fishing which is more than enough to feed additions these guys wrew already well off especially the captains your comment is beyond silly and non factual. Look at the addition and death rates for crab fisherman not shown on tv and it's not even close . These guys were all drug addicts long before the show .

ive worked physical jobs and construction all my life. Men were fired before I was and that was before all this womens rights stuff. Average age of 40 does not surprise me a bit "work hard, play harder." And honestly how do you think they stay up for 4 days at a shot working and moving all the time?
It's extremely hard to fight a sexual assualt case. Even if your innocent the court will always side with the victim first. It's really fucked up. My brother is fighting a case right now. Even with the so called victim changing her story more than 3 times and then over a year never mentioned his name again only talks about her meth addict father and still ask where my brother is. When she is told he is in jail because she said he hurt her her response is I never said that. So I don't trust the court one bit. It's just about the DA winning a case. No worries though its costing us but we have retained the best attorney and he even said the case was so fucked but if the girl takes the stand the court will automatically side with her.
Not all the way true. But I understand your sentiment. There are detectives out there that do some due diligence and investigate the whole story without taking sides, and thankfully in my case that's what happened.

Very odd, 16 years old is the age for consent in most states. The reason why my ex could have a live-in 16 yr old "babysitter" even though he didn't work. Judge told me 16 yes old was the age of consent in our tate and in many states so was irrelevant.

The rare few that lived past the age of 40 or just people who got lucky because most of these guys are Partiers why do you think they need a lot of money and are willing to put their lives on the line?
