You have understand S Mel, that dam's reservoir feed canal into Crimea. The wheat grown there is sold primarily into the Middle East. Which means there going to major food price increases and food riots. There going to be more instability in the region.

@@easwarsankar both of the sides have facts and valid reasons to blow the dam, right now there is no concrete evidence to point blame, both sides have shown their ugly faces by committing war crimes, so it's hard to believe one side only right now, even the nordstream pipeline explosion is blamed on Russia when it doesn't make any sense to why anyone would blow their own $$.

The dam was the only bridge in South. I don't think it would be that difficult to defend. Second if Russia has to blow up the dam why not drain it first because flooding will mostly effect the Russian side. And third draining or blowing the dam will prevent water to krimia region. There is no benefit to blowing up for Russia. Same like nordstream could have been turned off by Russian instead of blowing up which USA did.

Interestingly I think Ukrainians did it, they have history of sabotaging projects like Nord Stream two, beside this Dam provides electricity to the nearby nuclear plant and the dry Crimean region. Infact rather than Russia it was Ukraine that wanted to narrow the scope of attack, because I think it did start the counter offensive a few days back and lost many soldiers thus in retaliation they blew up the Dam.
