Tragic Zach Rolfe Shooting: From Drug Dealer to Healing Advocate - Lukas Williams | I Catch Killers After spending a decade in and out of jail, reformed drug dealer Lukas Williams walked out of prison for the last time in 2011. Swapping the criminal world for academia, Lukas is now helping people heal. In this episode, Lukas talks to Gary Jubelin about the moment he met the Northern Territory community rocked by the Zachary Rolfe police shooting in 2019, which killed Kumanjayi Walker. This episode of I Catch Killers discusses self harm. If this raises any issues or concerns, you can reach out to Lifeline on 13 11 14. ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ I Catch Killers with Gary Jubelin True Crime Listen on Apple Podcasts ► Connect With True Crime Australia Online: bit.ly/46xCXDb ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ ► Subscribe To Our True Crime Australia RU-vid Channel: bit.ly/3iU23Fm ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ ► Follow Us on Facebook: facebook.com/TrueCrimeAustralia ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ 00:00 - Introduction - Lukas Williams 06:55 - Healing from intergenerational trauma 08:09 - From criminal to academic 14:01 - The police shooting that shocked Australia 31:22 - Creating a safe place to share 34:27 - Learning to listen and understand to heal #truecrime #truecrimeaustralia #crime #crimestory #crimejunkie

Thank you for this thoughtful interview. This is a story of extreme courage and healing which is truly inspiring. The no vote and some of the comments here are so very disappointing and sad for Australia. Again, thank you!

The channel 9 story on this made Zac out to sound like the biggest criminal ever. Facts are this kid had a long history of violence especially for his age and his future was guaranteed to involve long terms of adult imprisonment. Sad what happened but in my eyes Zac didn't have alot of options and I can't stand the fact that media makes him sound like the criminal!!!

The horrific details of massacres are told down through the generations by the survivors of those massacres. It is very real, and for Indigenous people it only happened yesterday. The fear is too recent and raw. ps. The title of this episode implies that Zachary Rolfe is tragic. The shooting is tragic. The loss of a young Indigenous man is tragic in such a way where it could've been prevented. Maybe not mention his name at all. In a way, it's kinda whitewashing .. Just putting it out there. Doing good by the way Gary and Team 👍

The massacres were and remain disgusting and traumatizing. We have to move forward together and not these past events rule the present and determine the future

@@jw-vx8im Agreed. Unfortunately the wider community doesn't wish to acknowledge intergenerational trauma or move forward together. The Referendum result proved that. And now many of us will only work with the people who voted Yes. So ... working and moving forward together is always going to be difficult.

Same old story… getting a bit old Garry… How about you get all these guys who “ have stories “ and take them up north… or to places where youth crime is out of control???? The talk about the “ message “ is getting a bit old! Do something about it??
