I was a fan of yours before for the glimpse into the man you are depicted as through this channel, but I deeply appreciate you now! I'm an adaptive athlete who runs in a manual wheelchair because the cost of an adaptive running chair and certainly an adaptive trail running chair is a barrier. Just this week I was launched from my chair while on a run because it isn't equipped to safely navigate cracks in the sidewalk. Increasing access to the tools that allow us to live life just as fully as anyone else is integral to one's mental health and identity. It restores a dignity that so many have taken away. I wish there were similar organizations within my state. Thank you for bringing awareness and sponsoring such a meaningful cause. Cheers!
Wow! Youre amazing! I wish there were better ways for people to get the tools they need to live life. It’s sad how expensive this stuff is. Keep crushing!
@@ChaseTheSummit Thanks! Back at ya! I look forward to watching you hit your sub 24hr goal as I continue training for my first ultra. I wonder if there’s a way for me to get in touch with the organization.
I think you'll find your 40's decade to be your best. You seem dialed-in to where you are, the kids are getting more independent, and the channel/ Brand is developed! Hit the gym, hit the trails. Work the Races. Where you go, the Brand goes. Rock on!
Did my first half marathon back at the end of April and missed the 2 hour mark by just under 2 minutes. Can't wait to try again in September! Thanks for the content! Helps keep the motivation up!
I didn't even start ultras until I was 40! But yeah, in your 20s, 40 sounds ANCIENT! 😂 One thing about the VT 100 that makes it so special is that it's one of only 3 races worldwide that I'm aware of that runs a horse endurance race simultaneously with the human race. Sharing the trail with horses, and almost feeling like you're competing with them, is a very special and rare experience. (Horses have mandatory vet checks and rest periods at their aid stations, so it levels the playing field!) I volunteered this year, but I hope to both run and ride it in upcoming years. Beautiful race, cool people, great cause!
So much of running is like “What is the point?” but I always keep coming back for more. There is something really nice about just gliding along in nature. Best of luck in your upcoming race!
Yay for another running vlog. Good luck at the Vermont 100!!! Pretty awesome that the channel is sponsoring the race. Good luck on your final training preparations.
Not running for a couple of months now. F*ing plantar fasciitis. But goal for the year is to still hit at least 750km total by the end of year. And props to you Dave for taking the time to still do these vlog updates. Keeps my running hopes up. Turning 40 in september and 3 kids 😅
I’m pretty new to running in general. I’m not training for anything just trying to be consistent with it. I would love to run a marathon someday, but I’m no where near ready for that.
I’ve been eyeing the new white hat for a while, so it’s a great excuse to finally pick it up. I’m looking forward to the race vlog and absolutely felt the “why bother if I can’t fit in the whole workout” vibe. I need to remind myself it’s better than zero too!
Pretty excited about your race vlog about the Vermont 100! Can't wait! 🙂 Hope you will be smashing it and have a lot of fun! 💪 I also use PrecisionFuel gels. I really like them. Tasty and somewhat affordable.
I feel the same struggle with not wanting to go out for a run if I don't feel I have the time/energy to do the full workout, something I need to work on. No race in mind just getting back into the swing of things after a prolonged break, have been hitting the trails every day that they haven't been closed due to mud even though I'm absolutely hating this heat/humidity. Also love those Patagonia shorts. I splurged on a few pair during the REI sale and I can't go back to my old cheap Walmart shorts
I originally bought the new Challengers to run Vermont last year, but they blistered my feet on every long run 😬 I ended up getting Topo Ultraventure 3 which I LOVE
Hard pass on those Challenger 7's. They give me the worst toe blisters on my big toe and while the grip is okay, it's nowhere near the SG5 or the new 6. Have you looked at the new SG or the Stinson? Another great video and I will take a look at that fuel you are trying. Being in your 40's you can tell people you're not old...just a little more experienced!
I ran Javelina in Challengers last year. I switched to another pair at 60 miles only because I wanted to change socks and relube the feet. I should have kept the same pair on. Ended up getting a blister under my big toenail only because I think I had the 2nd pair too tight. Other than that no issues. Sounds like the Mafate might be overkill for the Vermont course, just my 2 cents. Anyway good luck at Vermont!! 🏃♂️💯🏁🥳
I like my Mofate Speed 4's they are the best shoe I have for grip, but there is a small internal web that just rubs my small toe now and a gain, so that needs some lube on it. I've done 55 miles twice in these shoes but also welcomed a more roomy toe box shoe at my bag drops. PS I'm 51 and still going strong :=)
Man I'll tell ya I've tried the most recent Challengers, not a fan. Haven't tried the Mafate but I now have 3 pairs of Speedland and I cannot say enough good things about them. Amazing shoes.
