Trailer Bunk Carpeting Replacement Plus Fender and Side Rail Bunks

This video will show you how to replace the trailer bunks, fender, and side rail bunks as well. Starting with new pressure treated wood, learn how to measure out, glue, and staple the carpeting to the wood for a tight, smooth finish. Mounting the new bunks to the trailer in this manner will maximize your use of the wood and carpeting on your trailer. My old bunks, carpeting and wood, lasted 21years so I am comfortable with the success of this mounting system. Stay tuned at the end of the video for some glimpses into an upcoming video on the total restoration project of my custom, original 2000 Triton TR21 EZ Loader trailer. Important safety concerns prompted the makeover of this trailer. This video will complement my earlier RU-vid video on my 2000 Triton TR21 makeover.

You went all out. I did similar mounting with stock carriage bolts. Used the old wood to mark out the new wood. Nice video. Same with folding. I have the same manufacturer of trailer. Also replaces the rear and front boat straps.

Your video is top notch. Other videos don’t show drilling and inset for carriage bolts. I still have to do the side pieces and I’m using your video to help me out.

Thanks again, I just switched boats and I will have to redo the bunks on this one too. The video is a great reminder for me too. Sometimes we forget the little things after not having done the job recently.

@@stevechiassonfishing5876 went to buy wood for the side pieces. Found sum left over mahogany wood pieces at Home Depot. Two 5’ pieces 12” wide. It rang up at over $200. Went back and got a sheet of pressure treated plywood. Also got 4’ of indoor outdoor carpet as my bunk carpet wouldn’t reach around the full piece with extra to staple. It’s looking nice. I have my boat in dry stack at discovery bay marina California so I get to take my time doing trailer maintenance. I’m also replacing all the lights with led. It’s definitely work that needs to be done so we can have a nice day on the water as well as the trip there and back. Replaced all tires and the spare two years ago.
