That’s certainly a new idea. But now when you load stuff, you have to chock everything so it doesn’t roll back before you lower the trailer utilizing the jack. If you have a taller lift gate your angle would less and you could just drive your equipment on without worrying about it wanting to roll out. But I like your design. I guess in some applications it would have it’s advantages. Thank you for sharing. Well done Sir.
When it was tilted up you could drive on it and actually really wasn't that high. You're only going to get 18 to 20 in out of a scissor jack like that You're not going 4 ft It just leveled out the the ramp so it made it easier to get on and off. If you were riding or driving something on you would just put the e brake on and As long as your machine is working or use a come along to drag whatever on. Then It's impossible for it to go unless you have 2 wheels and not 4 it might be a little different but they make bike holder uper wheel things that you can drive into and it will hold a bike up and the brakes should keep it from rolling backwards or did I miss something else?
One of the major problems solved with the jack. When you load the mower, golf cart, 4 wheeler on a tilt trailer it does not slam down on the tongue of the trailer or hitch ball jarring your teeth. The tail gate reduces the angle of loading which makes getting the item on and off with less effort. This also solves the trailer hitting the bottom of the golf cart while loading. As far as all of these arm chair welders comments on here, you were very up front about the welds, if you were D. Trump talking about the welds you would have told us how great of a job you were doing welding. Keep the ideals coming on you tube, these arm chair inspectors need something to inspect.
Just be aware when you load the trailer it's okay. It won't pull the trailer down though. You want to make sure those weight in the nose so that way it goes down automatically when you reel it down. If you try to use the jack to pull it down, it'll just break The Jack
I would trust bubble gum before that kind of welding. Dude, you are going to get hurt. Those welds are actually dangerous if you think about it. Anyway, those old car jacks come in handy in so many ways around the shop. with the load rating they have, you can use them for all kinds of heavy duty projects.
Oyea i had to stay under a hundred the trailer starts to swing at 99 shes ok lolololoolol the speedo in the truck i have only registers 85 and if it was doing 100 it was on another truck getting towed its a turd and wont even do a burnout like at all barly chirps the tires with a redline clutch drop unless its wet
Id be worried about loading it down then the trailer come off the axel on a turn or something where its only attached at the axle for it to tilt. Id like to see how its attached.. perty neat tho..
The tongue Is not attached to the axle at all the axle is on leaf springs attached to the trailer and nothing else it's attached to the frame of the trailer with bolts and this still lets you "lock" the movement so it can't go anywhere
@@ibdalovely1 you do need a better welder but a class can't hurt. but you should also hit that with a grinder to clean it up after.....would still look better....
Whut the skittle when did I post this and whats your point posting on a way old vid maybe subscribe and you can see the newer videos of cats and neons lol
It does let you reduce the loading angle and avoid scraping the bottom of whatever you’re loading, like say, a golf cart or a mower deck on a lawn tractor.
Your ingenuity is on point- your welding skills need a little work- Seriously, you should watch a couple welding video's on here- its really pretty simple to learn... A good percentage of the time booger welds like that are caused from not cleaning the metal of rust or paint before welding it- invest in an angle grinder ($15) with a braided wire wheel ($6) then strip whatever it is your working on prior to.
Do people even read the comments or do they just post on way way old content I actually still have that welder still no gas but I can weld a bit better but it's still crap what the no gas
Only downfall is if you have a load on it it will not pull the load back down. It's cool going up but as soon as you try to like force it to go back down like crank it in to pull the jack down it just breaks
if your using solid wire with no sheilding gas in a standard mig then i guess its possible but not likely- If your saying thats the best you can do with flux core wire with a machine specifically designed for no gas then there is some other issue going on with either A: dirty material or B: Not enough voltage/amps to actually to produce enough heat to start the puddle- like, say- when you plug into a 15 amp breaker with a 110 machine and/or use a small gauge extention cord.
I am surprised not more people use the chain/gate idea. I have this on my 5x8 mainly to use as a bed extender to haul a canoe to the lake. You are the only other person i have seen do it-
Im sorry but those are the ugliest welds ever. Other than that though great Ideas, I love the jack for the tilt as well as the tailgate, would definitely help for hauling longer stuff!
I only really used it to haul mowers and junk to scrap it didn't necessarily need to be longer for what I used it for instill have it took off the Jack messed it up trying to screw down the Jack with a load on the back and it twisted wasn't meant to do a pull down was my fault
I'm just appalled at all the welders out there that obviously didn't listen to this video! I answered this commenting one of you and felt I needed to put it where more will see this! You can have a very aesthetically pleasing weld that fails horribly, the looks of it are practically meaningless!
that is quite literally the most ignorant thing I have ever heard. If the looks of a weld were practically meaningless, then why would welding instructors and inspectors judge the quality of weld by looking at it first? I can promise you that crappy looking welds would never earn a certification.
@@zacharybarton8220 thanks, I didn’t want to bother with saying that but seriously, the ignorance is so strong with this one! It’s definitely a dumb to the point of getting scary, world we live in.
The gate is useless when it's all the way down it's in such a off angle you need ramps to load anything and this made that process much simpler being I could just drive or winch things without dealing with ramps
You did a great job on the design, build and functionality of this tilt and gate set up. Maybe it could, maybe it couldn't be tweeked if you build more. The hinge is a big part of the jack not getting in a bind. It may be all that's needed. But, I'd pay attention and watch to see if there were any binding zones or stress areas as I used the trailer. Probably not, but, thats the place I can see being the area most under pressure and with the greatest potential to twist or bind up some way. But, great job! Wonderful innovation and I bet you'll end up modifying something at some point. I know you borrowed much of what you did from someone, but, I bet at some point you will adjust things enough so it'll be more your design than his.
BTW, these hating jokers who keep crying like babies about the welding have to be unable to read previous comments and have nothing going on in " own lives to keep repeating the same obvious issue over and over. I'd bet half of them couldn't strike a weld if they had to.
ifens you don't liken the whay eyes talkin you need to find something better to do need your opinion on my pronunciation of words I'd the dumbest reason to leave a comment you don't have to watch it and it you didn't like it it wasn't made for you sorry
A grinder and paint will make you the welder you ain't. Nothing worse than having a weld fail. Even worse is having a shitty weld that you had to grind out and re-do. Better off slowing down, adjusting your voltage properly, and taking the time to do it right the first time. Your equipment is just as telling of the quality of work you do as the results of your hard work. Do not cheapen yourself. And you need more trailer.
I’m just saying I been a fitter all my life and the welder always blames me if he makes a bad weld and if I make a bad fit I blame him. Blame game. So many people talkin shit about the welding I said piss on them. Grind your welds and spray paint it and it looks like new!😂
I like the concept but what happens when you get everything loaded . Unless you're doing ATV's which have a break everything else will be rolling off until you get to the front and lower down.
I'll give it 10 drops before chain breaks and the grate hits the ground and maybe 3 mower loads before the welds break off the jack. In all seriousness, practice on some scrap metal and re do those welds. I see ZERO penetration.
any why would i "drop the gate" my back bends and so do my arms not the reason they are there its a ramp to load mowers into it so i didnt have to load them in the back of a truck with some sketchy ramps much further to fall when they dont stay under the mower will you ride a mower into the back of a truck with ramps or onto this trailer i still have the trailer no one died the chains are still there same place years later
I actually still have the welder that I did this with I used that setup till I tried to load 2000lbs of scrap with it tilted up I just don't have a need to have 1000 dollar welder to sit in the corner and if you can weld better good function over form works good or looks good I just don't care lol and a grinder fixes most sins if you want to hide something
@@ibdalovely1 lol no need for optimism and well that's great hope you stay lucky but iv seen those things fold up like a camping chair from very little weight if put under any stress while inclined.... To each his own iv done plenty of my own sketchy shit I just wouldn't advise it to others with internet advertising
What's advertising about a 4 year old video I'm not selling anything it's about a jack and a trailer if what you think is not normal don't do it it's easy but commenting your opinion and thoughts make more views thank-you
It never ceases to amaze me that people still post on this it's been like a couple years four or five now and the comments still keep coming bird poop gets them every time
your comment is based on the notion that something that looks different than what you call good looks will fail catastrophically killing everything in its path but why what is that logic i will tell you i took the jack off anyhow a couple summers after i did this vid it was awesome for moving mowers with this trailer but not because any of the welds failed i had loaded roughly 1000 lbs of scrap in it its got a 2k axle on it i looked and it was tilted up i went to put it down and the trailer was loaded heavy on the back and wouldn't pull down and the jack itself failed trying to pull down something it wasnt meant to do oh and i drug 1750 lbs of steel and scrap from 75 at Kentucky ohio border to southern dayton the first time and the second was 1400 something in a 1988 2.3 ford ranger 5 speed on this trailer with the jack broke straps and chains i was more worried the truck would break vs the trailer no grammar or punctuation your welcome
I need you to go in the great detail so that way I can delete the post of why you think that there's a reason RU-vid should not allow this video to be posted
Early on RU-vid had an issue with people you would lose them after two to three minutes so that was something I did trying to talk fast enough to give people enough stuff in the video to pay attention to before I haven't posted videos in a long time though at least not very good ones anyways lol this video is several years old as it is I still have that trailer but I took the Jack and stuff off of it I loaded a bunch of weight on it and broke the Jack actually overextended it and messed it up
@@ibdalovely1 indeed. Arc/stick is way to go for garage heros. Flux core wire mig is wantabe mig using stick electrodes wrapped up in a wire spool , which is crap.
Went thru this with the last guy takes one to know one never done anything but smoke a little here and there when you work 8/10 hours and try to make money with junk have to keep the caffiene going or your losing money sleeping
the thing about it all is it's a guess it's wrong but it's a guess none the less with nobasis of evidence in any form other than your a goof thanks for the view
I would definitely watch if the video and info was good I’m just saying no need in rushing and less shaking of the camera and talking slower and clearer makes for a better video
