In Our first video Bianca and I look at the pros and cons of a travel trailer vs a class C. We look at both sides and explain why we moved on the class C and how to avoid some of the mistakes we made along the way. If you are thinking of buying either a trailer or a Class C RV this may help you decide which is best for you.

Just started exploring the idea of living in an RV. I have family all over the country, I can do 90% of my job online and may be able to do that last 10% via Zoom. With rent prices ever increasing, and I don’t have a vehicle to haul a trailer. Now I’m just trying to figure out exactly what I need for the nomadic life I want. Glad to find your channel.

Just picked up a Thor ACE 30.2, appears to be the same layout as yours but with a class A front end. We spent a long time looking at different models and the layout just seemed right for several reasons you brought up in this video. Nice work on your videos!

Great information. I have a small teardrop camper and considering a Class C in the future. Do y'all still recommend them after all this time?
@TheBHiveRV
@TheBHiveRV 28 дней назад
Great question, I love our class C and still feel it was the best solution for our family at the time. We have also set ours up for towing which is nice because we can bring a small Jeep with us and have transportation without breaking down the RV. I think it really depends on how YOU are going to use the camper and how often. I would not hesitate to buy another towable. The only complaint I have with the class C is the power of the engine. Now i want a Diesel Super C but the cost is rediculous. The nice thing about a towable is you can invest in a REALLY nice dually and upgrade either your camper or your truck as you see fit. I hope this helps out thanks for watching :-)

Great video. We are looking right now and leaning heavily towards a 24-25 footer RV. 2 people. Wondering if it's practical to carry on back a large scooter to get around once we arrive to destination. The only negative we have come up with is not having a truck with us. Thoughts ?

I think the scooter is a good idea there are plenty of people who have ebikes they bring with them. We have our gladiator set up to tow behind our RV. Thanks for watching :-)

THE RV IS EASIER WHEN IT COMES TO DRIVING & TRAVELING IN IT BUT WHEN SOMETHING GOES WRONG WITH THE RV, WHICH WILL HAPPEN, YOU ARE OUT OF A HOUSE SINCE IT WILL HAVE TO BE LEFT WITH THE RV SERVICE CENTER. NOW YOU HAVE TO FIND A PLACE TO LIVE WHILE YOUR RV GETS WORKED ON.
@TheBHiveRV

Not really that big of a deal, you can save a lot living in the RV and use that for Hotel if you need to also i can sleep in my jeep :-)

I don't understand how people can happily tour without either a tow or towed vehicle. Not having a vehicle along that you can park in a standard-sized car parking space SEVERELY limits your options for full enjoyment of your touring.

Thanks for your review. My 78 year old mother and myself were thinking about the whole ABC class or trailer option. This video helps a lot. Thanks again. For 2 people, the C does seem like the way to go long term. We're not bells and whistles people.

Thanks for watching, yes we still have the same RV, Bianca has wanted to upgrade to a super C and i love the idea but dont want to swallow the cost. It would be 100K more basiclly for a chassis change but the layout would be the same. I love our class c.. i feel like home when we are in it 🙂

I purchased a really nice trailer in Feb of 2016 - Thought I knew what I wanted - then a few months later (May of 2016) traded it in for a Coachmen Freelander 29KS - so much more convenient when traveling. No regrets though, I loved the trailer when we were at camp on rainy days - but the Motorhome is plenty roomy and fits our needs and travel style much better. Thanks for the Video and great Info! Thank you for your experience, but I think you bought a small/cheap trailer and that skewed your views and your truck prices seemed inflated! Plus, if your van pulls 11,000 #, you could easily get TONS of trailer options that are DELUX for $25-30k that easily sleep 4-6 and more. IDEAL: Go to one of the nations LARGEST RV shows and spend at least 2 days walking through units so you can see what is available and TALK, TALK to the salespeople about the type of traveling you will be doing, THEN make your decision to buy. This is a massive purchase with years of payments ahead of you, doing a few months of research and visiting a show is well worth the time and effort.
@TheBHiveRV
@TheBHiveRV 3 года назад
Thanks for your comments, but i disagree. We should have looked around more and maybe rented one or two before we bought the trailer. As for the truck.... I don't want used, and i want only the best, that's just me.... the trucks i was looking at cost more than the RV we bought. Also for our family right now the class C just works a lot better. We have, however, looked at other trailers and can see many advantages to them as well. Thank you for watching, Thanks for your input, I hope you and your family are having as much fun as ours.
@renaesutton3145
@renaesutton3145 3 года назад
I agree at least prices in my area for new trucks are no where near that either. One issue I believe they would also have with truck and trailer would be that it may be difficult to fit 4 kids and 2 adults in truck to travel in and I am hoping no one would leave them ride in a moving trailer. I believe most of the RV's that are set up to travel with more than 2 have seat belt set ups for passengers. For safety I would not leave any kids of mine wonder throughout an RV while it is moving other than perhaps a quick bathroom trip LOL.

I agree and that has always been a concern of ours, we have both of our small kids in a safety seat and a booster and everyone is buckled in while we are driving. Thanks for watching.

Great advice guys, we're retired have a 30 foot motorhome, 3 old dogs.and.one young kitty, yes a motorhome is the best. We bought ours used $8,000. This was the best purchase ever. Retired folks could also consider volunteering as hosts or docents. Your life is not over because you aren't a computer wiz. We have learned how to fix old parts when broken and also added solar to insure we have.a.charged battery for water, heater and c_pap machine when off the.beaten track. Thank you for the advice.👍

I've had tow behind , 5th wheels , Class C and Class A units. To me the Class C is a good choice for many people. It's much easier to deal with than big Class A rigs , cheaper to maintain and easier to work on. Gets alot better milage . To me the tow behind and 5th wheels were just a pain to park , set up and tear down.

I think you have glossed over the danger of having children unrestrained in a motorhome. While it sounds great to 'live' in your house going 65mph, if you have to slam on the brakes or get in accident, the kids go flying and WILL get injured or worse. But with a trailer, they are in seat belts and airbags. And really, you can't stop to use bathroom? We are not in big hurry and like to stop anyway. The length issue with a bumper tow is not such a big deal because it 'bends'. The fifth wheel setup shrinks it up a lot, so you can go big on the trailer. I do understand a F350 can be expensive, but when you need repairs, now your motorhome/sleeping quarters are in the shop.

Thanks for the honest , enlightening experience between travel trailer & class C. By the way , why people have to take time in their day to comment on your audio , what the RV is supposed to be called is amazing ! You guys are not trying to win RU-vid awards ! Keep up the family togetherness. My wife & dog & me too, would love to move from our pop-up, to a travel trailer 23-28 ft or a Class C. I go camping in popup once or twice a year . Florida mainly. With popup it stays in garage. A trailer would have to be parked in driveway. Lots of big trees waiting to come down on our next hurricane! Can’t afford to store trailer 20mins away from house . Class C , don’t like the idea of not running & using engine . I would have to take it for a drive every week . I would love to travel together & have my family chilling on the bed while I’m yelling at the other drivers cutting me off on I-75. Read the comment about your kids not being safe while not belted in. I’m looking at a small Class C. Have any advice ? I’m sorry this is too long of a post ! I’m retiring soon & should get the RV that will be easier for newbies. I’m looking at taking the plunge on the more money Class C. I know if I get the trailer , I’ll always regret not getting my dream coach !!! Oh sorry , I called it a coach 😞 Look forward to more of your vids ! Thanks guys !
