@@joekerr1763 I have had some days where I really wanna let go but then I realized who will take care of my siblings. It's one of those things that make us come back to being human.
@@hellokiwi25 yes but it is a DC film. A DC film that stands on its own. Like Marvel's Logan simce its not your typical xmen or wolverine film, focusing entirely on logan's character in the film. Wish more films like logan and joker came out. I expect a lot from DC whether they stand on their own or they are DCEU. Adding action and a little more gore can become the perfect DC film. Nevertheless Joker was a masterpiece
@@fayHoran Yeah of course it's a DC film, that's exactly what I meant... And yeah, amazing amazing work of art, I completely agree with you. Don't think I've ever watched a film as impactful as Joker
Nothing is going to be in the DCEU because the DCEU is a closed universe, no matter how much they still play with some of its pieces (Wonder Woman, Aquaman or Superman's ghost).
I love how DC finally decided to go to an actual dark place, instead of just making the Fucking scenery dark and wet looking and grey and dull in all of their movies. They made something good, and enjoyable, something we all needed and now have, whatever road they’re on now I hope they stay on it, and for once I can say, my expectations for what comes next, are high.
This film takes place in in 1981. It is not connected to the current DC Films. This is basically a one off Elseworlds film. It's the reason Phoenix hasn't joined a Marvel or DC film before now. He's said before that he doesn't want to commit to a comic book film because you always have to sign on for more than one and he's allergic to doing that. Only reason he agreed to doing the role is because it's gonna be a one off.
It's too bad that Joaquin Phoenix refuses to appear in a second film should it become a huge hit and Batman gets introduced. I don't think Joaquin Phoenix wants to appear in a film where he's fighting Batman.
Joker is a complex character to play, its actor would have to take immense hardship to totally get into its role. Imagine if Phoenix has to do sequels to Joker, he will probably die after doing 2 or more.
What Azhraeya is referring to it's that as of lately, Joaquin Phoenix only takes on the role of a character once, but that one time, he goes all out. Then he just doesn't touch it's character again. Could be a personal issue or loss of motivation, you know what they say, the second part is always the worst. I believe that if the time and the money are right for Joaquin, he would play the Joker again (if the movie does great and people love it) But I really doubt it. The man is yet to win an Oscar, and to be honest, I'm praying that this movie does great and gets him that, it is very well deserved for him. If the Joker wins him an Oscar the chances of him playing it again may increase.
@@Sebi1998 He won't do a sequel. JP likes to be challenged by the roles he takes and he can't be if he plays the same character twice. He doesn't do films for awards, he is actually embarrassed when he gets recognized for his work.
@@Sebi1998 I'm not sure how you came about that impression from my comment. I have read that he has anxiety issues but I don't know for sure. I do know for sure that he doesn't like compliments or awards, he rarely watches any of his movies (the only times where he has watched himself is because he was forced to) because he's too critical of himself. So he's not motivated by accolades and when someone praises him he quickly changes the subject (watch his interview with Kimmel re Inherent Vice) or shakes his head as if he doesn't feel that he's good enough. I don't see how only wanting to play a character once shows a lack of motivation. When he's done with a character, he's done and wants to move on. All of his characters are vastly different from Commodus to Theodore to Freddy to Joe. He doesn't want to be boxed in.
carringtongrace 73 some people can’t do something more times in a certain level, which is lack of motivation and concentration , not bcs they don’t want it bcs they can’t deliver in a constant, also a sign for a guy who is critical with himself bcs for that reasons he feels bad. ( english isn’t my language , hope u can get my point )
I've heard the Falling DOwn reference which was good but so glad to hear someone get beyond the most resent(great portrayal) and see the Romero flAvor. I feel like even if people don't like this "Joker" portrayal we'll have a good psychological film.
Joaquin Phoenix's Joker depicted in 1981. Next year we have the release of Wonder Woman 84 next year that would depict series of events having taken placed in 1984. Difference of just 3 years. A red hot savage imagination would be if this Joker movie gets merged in current stream of DCEU. WB would need to go out of their skin to persuade Joaquin Phoenix to sign up a contract for more DC movies perhaps in DCEU. 😉🤡🃏🤣🌠🌠🎥🎥⚡⚡
kumail ali They don’t need to have him come back. In fact, they could use Phoenix’s version as the official Joker and everyone other one after him is just adopting the title. Sorta like how Rorschach worked in Watchmen
Gotta love movie nerds discuss a movie trailer. :-D This is gonna be a great one. J.P. will be the best Joker to date. The only thing that worried me was Todd Phillips, but it seems that he can do dark stuff as well.
That’s mostly because the films he stars in aren’t the kind of films that spawn sequels - I mean, The Master, Walk The Line, Inherent Vice, Her, etc are all singular entities...
@@joekerr1763 He is a very experienced professional actor, and on top of that, he already has this oddly grounded eccentricity to him. Despite what many people say about the joker roll. I'd say he is going to be fine :p
Oooooooo, love the idea of a dark Batman origins and get into his mind kind of spin off. His growing up and having to deal with his parents death, already dark
This is supposed to be a stand alone movie, supposedly one of the reasons Phoenix took the job was because there wouldn't be a follow up and I think he just doesn't like playing repeat roles.
@@mephistopheleslair8466 Because that's the only thing that makes sense. I could very well be wrong, it's not like the DCEU has made sense up to this point.
Supposedly this Joker is an alternate timeline where the guy on the TV is Thomas Wayne who is the mayor of Gotham. Little Bruce made to smile through the fence.
@Martin Zhou its not an opinion and its not my own, the only good dc movies are the nolan trilogy, man of steel to extent even if superman isnt superman and clark isnt clark, wonder woman was tolerable but no where near as good the woman woman cartoon movie those are the only good ones, oh i almost forgot about dcs saving grace shazam, now thats a dc movie and joker will be at the top of the list
@Martin Zhou lol are you child, who talks like that "yea well your ass is dumb and thats a fact". Iron man 1 was good captain America 1 was meh to okay, thor 1 is meh to okay, Loki is the saving grace, 2 is awful but portal kombat tho, we all know capn feminism was gonna suck and brie is a bitch so whats ur point? Are you trying to prove im a marvel fan over dc cause thats false i grew up on dc, the only marvel character i ever really cared about was spiderman, look im dc fan like hardcore dc fan, i love batman, superman, flash, and wonder woman... but the dceu is just not good cause its trying to keep up with marvel when marvel has had 10 years to give backstory and characterize each hero that all lead up to the amazing movie infinity war. Dc atm should just abandon the universe thing and just do solo movies and else world stories like the cartoon and dc animated movies do, thats what i want from dc they dont have to copy marvel to be good, dc characters and villains are some of the most important and hero characters iknow, the best part is that most of them are human and have human characteristics not just quips as much as i enjoy them. Thats why i think marvel is nailing over dc .. when it should be the other way around. I love dc and i want them to succeed
It's a standalone film. Bruce Wayne is in the trailer. I'm sorry to be the ass, but the memo has been sent. It's set in the 80s and that boy is Bruce Wayne.
Jaquines face is so expressive at 1:21 where he looks like he's on a date and should be happy you really see the underlying pain he feels through his forced smile. And the Kid he makes smile through the fence? I bet is Bruce Wayne. just saying. I Can't wait!
The thing with these movie is that it is not connected to the DCU, it is it's own thing. Batman also isn't gonna be in this movie because the film takes place in 1981 and bruce is a kid at this time. In matter of fact that kid at the gate is supposed to be a young bruce wayne.
Post credit scene Ben Afflecks Batman monitoring Gotham cities activities from the batcave and Joquin Phoenix's activities show up on the screen. Batman : Alfred, my next mission's here! Credit roll
I believe this Joker is the one that kills Bruce Waynes parents and causes Bruce to become batman. It's already confirmed the kid Joker forces to smile is young Bruce Wayne, and that his father Tomas Wayne is the one talking in the video.
My fave part of the trailer is which ever sicko in the production team named the comedy club he is in Pogo's. Pogo being the clown name of the Killer clown John Wayne Gacy who killed 33 young Boys/Men. This film will not be for kids as the producers have said they are aiming for a Hard R rating.
Yes, yes... Prequel to BATMAN YEAR ONE. This film will beg for it. PS - we will see the Wayne Murder. Perhaps, the Joker will know who did it BUT he’s an unreliable witness.
Everyone wants another Batman movie ASAP, which is awesome, but I’m here waiting for characters like Blade, Spawn and Flash to have some projects out already. 🤦🏻♂️ I’m gonna be here for a while 😆
It’s like Venom, where the villain has their own film/story aside from the superhero But darker Venom without Spider-Man, and......Joker without Batman?
The sad part is, Jon Hamm actually wants the role of Bruce Wayne/Batman but nobody has called him yet or made him an offer. He mentioned this in an interview some years back. He said he really, really, really wants to be Batman. But, if this movie does have a sequel, Jon Hamm would looked as old as Joaquin Phoenix's Joker whereas, Bruce Wayne is supposed to be in his early to mid 20's in this timeline. Not going to work, bummer.
This IS comic book joker if you dive deeper. Whenever someone says this isn’t a “comic book movie” I suggest reading more comics. Not everything is high action and crime fighting.
I think that kid is Bruce Wayne. That was Thomas Wayne on the TV calling him a coward. And I think the talk show scene with DeNiro is from The Dark Knight Returns where Joker kills the entire studio audience. m.ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-TYNDHuH6MNA.html
This is an elsewhere story so what if......Martha Wayne died and Thomas Wayne didn’t and Thomas Wayne becomes a Batman like figure I feel like Thomas Wayne will be a bigger plot device than we think

This Joker is a standalone movie, not related at all with the DCEU. I would like it if it was connected to the new Batman movie, but I'm afraid it won't be.
I highly doubt that this is going to lead to a batman. I would be amped for that, but please, man..please, be happy if its its own thing and its good. Dont be those assholes that needs it to be something more. Lol. If it would pass your standards in a world where we never thought about connected cinamaverses it should pass in a world where we have them. I need DC to do good bro. So, if its good on its own its good on its guys, that is okay. Marvel is marvel. Dc is dc. Not every comic book movie needs to be a part of this web of intricately interconnected universe.
"A much darker Batman which is what I really want to see" Wow..are you serious???..This channel never fails to amaze me..We got a much darker Batman with Snyder ...and RU-vidrs bitched about it. The DCEU never tried to emulate the MCU...hell ..most RU-vidrs bitched that the DCEU DIDNT do it like marvel... Marvel wasn't the first in history to build a shared universe..we've been getting those since the 40s. Man of Steel wasn't a dark movie Most DCEU movies have been brilliant . Marvel had issues in their first phase..but the media have them a pass. Bruce Wayne was in this Joker trailer
Parsman correct. This is a separate film. My theory is, this is a story The Joker is telling someone to about how he gets his scars before he kills them.
@@happiestaku6646 Nolan's trilogy is its own thing. Todd Phillips is doing his own thing too. Every Batman films has no relations to any other version of it. Tim Burton's has no relations to Nolan's films. Joel Schumacher's Batman has no relations to Tim Burton's film.
