Today we meet Brenda who was lucky enough to find a great used Scamp 5th Wheel--so she grabbed it up and now lives in it. She is so glad she did because it only weighs 2700 pounds and can be towed by a 1/2 ton truck!! It also helps that it is gorgeous inside. There aren't a lot of them out there, but they are still making them. Search diligently and you too might get lucky and find one!!

If I were to travel, a light 5th wheel would be terrific! Easy to tow.The truck was a good choice. Just an all-round, nice arrangement. I'm older and want to be able to stand up in a camper VS no head room. LIke you say, one must strike a balance between freedom and comfort. I want both, to a reasonable degree. That rig would be perfect. It is a fiberglass " tiny house" in its our right. I hope Scamp continues to make them. Brenda was very helpful in explaining how she keeps warm and cool. Impressive!

Great setup Brenda, and thanks Bob for another high quality video. She mentioned she wants solar, but is afraid to drill through the fiberglass trailer roof. I've seen flexible solar panels attached to a roof with high strength Velcro underneath and Eternabond tape around the edges. The wiring could be routed down through a vent, so it is possible to mount solar without drilling holes. Suitcase solar out on the ground would be another way to have energy without drilling.

Very cosy and pretty home! And such a nice, soft-spoken lady, a real pleasure to meet. Loved the cabinets. That golden oak color is so pretty. I painted mine white, and now regret it immensely. I will remove the paint and restore the golden look. The extra bedroom in back made it a giant space.

Loved watching this! I am buying my first SCAMP 5th wheel for my tacoma in a couple days and am so excited. I was doing the nomadic lifestyle in my truck shell converted it to a mini RV but was kind of tight. So this is definitely going to be a home! Thanks for the video. So nice to see people chasing adventures and joy. It's the little things that could be so much for us.

I've lived in campers, on a boat, and now live in a tiny 800 sq. real house. Always cracks me up when people ask how can you do that, it's so tiny. #1, First get rid of of all your junk that that you have not used in 20 years. Most people have no clue how little you really need to lead a happy life and get trapped into thinking more is better. I used to have a sign on my boat that says "I've never had less, but enjoyed it more" . I love the fact you also do the exact same thing as I do, I always have a plan A, B, and even C for any situation I'm facing. Even living in a real home I have a back up generator, gas 2 burner stove, portable gas heater and lantern, and even a porta potty. It's funny when we have lost power in my area for several days all these people with the far bigger houses come my tiny home to take a dump, shower, get water or even cook some food.

The natural wood cabinets are really beautiful. My kind of interior. A really beautiful fifth wheeler! I can't stand the sterile / clinical modern cabinetry of most new RV s down here in Australia these days. Beautiful home indeed. Good on ya Brenda.

I keep returning to this video. I can't get it out of my mind how calm and down-to-earth Brenda was during the making of this video. I keep comparing all of the Scamp trlrs, including Brendas 5th wheel, to all others. Now I know. Thanks Brenda for taking time out of your very busy schedule, to share your wonderful ideas and showing us inside your home. Lol. Ok I am going to fess up. Lol. gregory p Agree with you. Reading her words touched my heart & made me feel like maybe, despite all the seemingly insurmountable obstacles in my way, I too can make my dreams happen. I think this is what happens when someone has a genuine, kind spirit & is not afraid to be vulnerable & real with others; and who is truly happy when others find their peace & happiness. That is the feeling I get from Brenda. I've become a loner in middle age, but she is someone I'd like to hang out with. And I don't feel that way about very many women anymore. Most of the ones I've met are catty & mean, just like in junior high! I'm happy to see Brenda living the life she was meant for! I'm sure it wasn't easy to allow the world into her personal space, but I appreciate her willingness to share her home with us. Thanks, Brenda & Bob.

Geez, you guys actually make me choke up a little. Thank you for the kind words, they mean a lot. If my words or the videos can make someone's life just a little bit better, then I did what I wanted to do. Sometimes I'm probably a little too 'real' for people's tastes. I think our duration here is too short, from a happiness standpoint, to be anything but real. I'd like to see that happiness ratio shift dramatically for the better. Anyone can do this if it's what you want. It sometimes takes a little creative thinking and being willing to step out of a standard 'comfort zone'.

Thanks for the video tour . Years ago I was considering the 16' Scamp and was impressed with the build quality , but ended up going for a class C . Now we have settled into out class B , a 19' Roadtrek and are loving it . I had not seen the layout of the 19' before and was once again impressed . Nice job Brenda with the decorating and personal touches . I like people who learn to adapt to whatever they run into for weather and off grid or hooked up . Should serve you well for many years .

She sure knows her truck and trailer, she's very knowledgeable and a very nice woman. Like her, I'm planning on buying myself a 45 foot Prevost used coach in the near future and I'm going to travel across Canada and the U.S. possibly to follow the NASCAR circuit for a year and be at every race in a different city and/or state every week starting in February until November, and I'm doing it by myself, I'm a widower for the past 6 yrs, but I want to travel, this was mine and my wifes dream to do this one day, but, fate crossed our path, so I will go it alone. Now I fully understand why some people just like to have their own space and love to travel all by themselves and to have no one to answer to.

If you can adapt your kitty to a harness, just keep an eye on him/her if you let them out on a tether. Mostly she's pretty good, but Maggie can and has wiggled out a few times!

Wolf Blue I tried putting a harness on my cat (tortie) and she would run to the end of the tether and jump straight up, then flat on the ground. So I said forget it. Did you have this much trouble training yours? Maybe I'm missing something. We're do you keep the litter box. I use Blue Buffallo walnut shells..so no odor.

I chuckled at your comment. Knowing torties, I can just picture yours doing that. Well, I have to keep an eye on her. She can wiggle free. She didn't like it at all at first, then she got better and associated it with going outside. We still have 'disagreements' sometimes and if she had it her way, there'd be no harness at all. She doesn't understand it's just to keep her safe. Her box is under the couch/lounge in the front of the trailer - where the table would be if I had it set up. I've been using Arm & Hammer Natural, have not seen the Blue Buffalo stuff.

We just took a 6 week adventure with a 19 foot 5th. My husband, our Grands 4 and 8 year old and one 100 dog. I just retired and am giving a lot of thought to giving up the house and hitting the road. Love your vids!!

Bob, Great video. Awesome camper. I had to watch this one in bits and pieces toady, as I had several things going on. I must have snagged this just after it was posted this morning. FYI, I was the 50th person to like the video. As of 4:45 this afternoon, eastern time you are OVER 700 likes and 5,000 views. It was about 400 this morning. Keep them coming, and get to the van build. That's what we want to see. So, get busy.

Brenda, I'm surprised how much living space you have in such a small footprint. I could see a couple living very comfortably in one and even having a child sleep back in that table area by the TV. Thank you for the great tour and knowledge of the Scamp!

For a solo person, it does work well. To be honest Eddie, I don't know that this would accommodate a family like that for full-time necessarily without it becoming a 'getting on one another's nerves' issue - but for camping trips, yes for sure. You're welcome and I'm glad you enjoyed the tour.

If I ever decided to do this, I already have the truck for it. Now I know what living quarters to look for. I've always liked the loft style bedrooms of 5th wheel campers, and the sound structure of the scamp is a winner too. It really opens up the main compartment for all kinds of possibilities. Scamp puts me in mind of a more reasonable version of Airstream design. Very tasteful. Brenda is certainly the master of her domain with her backups to backups Plan B mentality. When I see these ladies doing what they love and SO effortlessly, it makes me think about downsizing what I have EVEN MORE! Us guys are lucky 🍀 to have YOU to educate all of us with the great ideas these great people have to offer. As a guy who’s lived a nomadic life in trucks and the last ten years on the railroad 🛤 I still feel like a rookie when I see the countless possibilities on the road. You sir are a treasure and you are making a huge contribution to our changing society. THIS.....IS FREEDOM AT IT’S BEST !!!
