No one can convince me otherwise that this isn’t the most perfect ending to a cinematic game story! Everyone involved in the development went above and beyond in my book, literally worked magic with this ending. I’ll never get bored of playing/watching over the full story and seeing how incredibly well everything comes into place!
The wedding was amazing in the credits the artist really captured a perfect scene that looked so real like simply beautiful and sad as well because I didn’t want it to end. I would of loved it if the other class members old and new appeared in this scene too would of been even better because they were amazing too
In fact, a true touching ending of cold steels series will be on Hajimari of Kiseki. I am sure people will cry again when they finish Hajimari of Kiseki
@@stonefantasy2012 oh absolutely, I have no doubt that I will burst out crying like a baby like how I did with the ending of cold steel 4 especially if they play the same or similar music like the ones they used in the end of cold steel 4.
Just finished five minutes ago... What a wild ride and journey.. I bought in the store the three games in a row this month and instantly ordered this one. What an incredible ending the true one, the Vamilar's last words to Rean, the images of all of them at the credits being happy together after all the shit trough they have been, all this emotions in an ending of an amazing saga. I love Trails of Cold Steel, and it gonna be my favourite saga, we will see again if theyll continue
I finished the game for the first time yesterday and I already started again from the 1° chapter. No other game made me feel this way at the end, neither final fantasy o tales of (which were my favourite sagas until I found this one). All 4 games are true masterpieces and I can't wait to play the next arc or even the previous like the Liberl one which I don't manage to find yet. On this ending I think it's just perfect and I can say for sure that the "goodbye... DAD" line is one of the most touching of the whole ending.
It is nice to see all these characters from the different generations of Trails games being together at the end. It really shows the long journey they had to reach this ending. Sadly this peace is only short lived because the real antagonist for the trails series has not been defeated yet.
Come think of it the kiseki series is incredibly layered. On the surface this is a story about groups of brave people rejecting absolute power granted by the goddess, in favour of a world built on humanity and bonds. (Estelle rejecting the ability of creation with aurelos and the opportunity to create the perfect humans, Lloyd refusing to let KiA re-write history to protect SSS, Rean rejecting the almighty power in favour of strengh through bonds). On the other hand every septerrion was corrupted by humanity (aurelos simply fulfilled human wishes, Demuguros was tainted by human greed, and the strife of man literally warped two septerrion into the personification of war). Was the goddess maleficent in giving human such power, or was she maleficent in giving human the potential for corruption? Or is evil simply a universal state of entropy which can't be stopped?
when i realize that this is a goodbye for now from all the cold steel characters and trails characters that you came to love over the years im just like " im not crying".
Got done this game a few days ago after playing all four games back to back and goddamn what a fucking journey it's been and the ending to top it all off was phenomenal anyone who has any curiosity in JRPG's please play this saga your doing yourself a disservice not doing so it's worth the 100's of hours you'll put into it.
man after 8 long years i can't believe this saga has now come to its end. what a masterpiece!! it gave me goosebumps and now i'm having a game withdrawal syndrome. Too sad i still have to wait for years for kuro to be localized :(
@@ciarandoherty6180 Unfortunately, it sounds like Trails into Reverie (The official title of Hajimari No Kiseki) is slated for a 2023 release date. Along with: Trails From Zero: Fall 2022 Trails To Azure: 2023 Trails into Reverie: 2023 The Legend of Nayuta: 2023 (This probably won't be the full releases, because there likely won't be 3 games slated for release in the same year)
11:00 So, it seems Osborne's prediction was correct... since the 2 of them, along with the other awakeners "Put an end to this wretched fairy-tale" by dispelling Ishmelga, which gave the others a chance to destroy the physical form for good

45:39 "The Night Sky on that Day" is the song. It played during Alisa's pivotal moment in CS1 (Nord) and Crow's backstory in CS2 (aboard the Pantagruel).
It’s quite apparent that the Grandmaster is planning to rewind time in order to escape the end of the world similar to Xenosaga’s Wilhelm who planned to reset and rewind the universe to escape its destruction.
It's also likely she's trying to regather the Septerrion, her, Aidios/Creha's, creations, in order to undo the follies of mankind that have resulted in severe damage to the world. To that end because most if not all the Septerrion have been sealed away or destroyed she has to push things in VERY immoral ways. There's a few clues the Grandmaster's goals are ultimately altruistic, such as sending some members of Ouroburos on missions to deal with lesser villainous groups including the DG cult or that Assassin organization that Sharon came from. In the same breadth, the Grandmaster seems to support plans whose ultimate goals are to improve humanity, even if by standing aside to see if they succeed, or even aiding them such as in this game. Giliath's plan to ultimately destroy Ishmelga's influence aided her plan and ultimately regardless of the result would aide in improving humanity by removing its desire for pointless conflict. Also notice the Ouroburos as a whole, their Enforcers, their big names, require "Darkness" in their hearts, implied to be a hatred for Humanity as it is due to some traumatic or severe emotional incident. They aren't exactly bad people, at least when you get to the core of them. Then here's the thing that really introduces a twist: during SC, we see at least one of them still respecting the Goddess, even as they destroy, capture, blasphem, etc, her world and treasures. They are out from the start to steal the Septerrion, and yet they show reverence to Aidios. This implies that at the least they do not believe they are inherently against the Goddess' will. This again implies the Grandmaster is the Goddess. So this is the Goddess really trying in my view to remove the Septerrions from the field so her children - the people of Zemuria - stop trying to destroy themselves over the blasted things.
@@katomamundara8106 They don’t seem to want to steal them. They want to “remove them from mankind’s hands”. The Mirage vanished and she considered that one mission accomplished too. They stole Space because it was merely sealed, and the Liberian Royal Family could easily unseal and use it.
That’s what I assumed too. At first, when I learned the world will end in 3 years, I wasn’t sure if it was due to a predetermined calamity, or the result of the Grandmasters plan. But it makes sense for it to be the former. While Ouroboros definitely did some immoral things, their ultimate plan goals were to remove the Sept-Terrions, essentially super weapons, from the hands of foolish humanity. It didn’t matter if they were merely removed or destroyed as long as humans could not use and abuse them. Plus, if the name of the Eternal Recurrence plan is anything to go by, it might be the action to capitalize on the calamity and save the world by resetting it. But there’s also the Divergent Law factor that may also come into play. If Zemuria is practically it’s own world, does the end mean the world of Zemuria itself end? Or everything including it? Hopefully we learn more in the coming games. The pieces are starting to come together.
Haha haha! You aren't sleeping so stop dreaming....this game full of cringe and bad writing won't even make the list. Now if we are talking about Persona 5, Fire Emblem Three house's, Devil may cry 5 and Spiderman ps4 then yeah.
yes the information from this finale takes place over a year of current events including those in Hajimari no kiseki. Which that game takes place 5 months later after the events of cold steel 4 have ended starting feburary 14, 1207. Kind of spoils the entirely of the core plotline of that game :)
@@jbird999cg it’s fine, we knew half of this things from Ao too. Hajimari is less about the events and more about the new information revealed in between. Like Sky the 3rd.
We have good reason to believe she's a character from the only Non-Zemurian Trails entry in the Legend of Heroes, a girl known as Creha. The game in question is "Nayuta no Kiseki" (or "Nayuta's Trails"
Maybe the world where they live in is the same as Adol's? And by the end of the legend of heroes as the barrier will be opened and people of zemuria can now go out of their continent will be the time Adol can enter their land..just a thought
almost missed out the scene with ouroboros if I hadn't decided to load the epilogue again to get the wedding title screen after I went to check the bonus outfits (which makes make want to get up to a certain point in the game to play as emma)
It really is an amazing game series, I have always been a huge Dragon Quest and Final Fantasy fan, picked this up over quarantine and to be honest feel quite ashamed for being so late to the series, it easily stands at the top of RPG's, I would note, it seems like they could have made the Epilogue into a game as well with the way they tell a story LoL Here's to hoping all the games get an English release soon and can't wait for their next masterpiece!
I'd uhh, strongly recommend that you play the first 8 games in the series. You probably were not able to appreciate or fully grasp what's even going on if you started with Cold Steel IV, the ninth game in the series.
@@yurionedge2199 what exactly is there to be disappointed about, the series has done a great job of spanning multiple sides of a complex story and will be continuing in Calvard in the next installment. It's a solid game.
When i saw the scared and trembling Ishmelga i can not other than feel pity for him. He should be the big bad Villain but in the end he was nothing else than a human made thread but he think he was doing good and humanity would evolved even farther after the Great Twillight. So in the end we have the Hero Osborne who became the villain to lay the groundwork for Ishmelgas defeat and we have Ishmelga the villain but he thought in someway he was doing this for humanity. And in Ouroboros i cant see a villain eather so who is the real villain in this story? The predestined fate everyone wants to change perhaps?
I believe the true villain has yet to be introduced, not in the game, at least. But I think they'll focus on a completely new threat mentioned in the "III and IX" novel. We'll pretty much see Ouroboros' rival soon and they're as terrible as the DG Cult.
As Valimar said, you can't forget that at the heart of the problem is humanity and their failings are a large part of the problem; the malice of Ishmelga was formed primarily by Humans (The tribes of Fire and Earth) wanting to destroy each other, that followed through to the instability of the great one and then finally the consciousness that awoke in the Ebon Knight.
My rean may have been overleveled for this looking at your hp. Mine had like 33k hp XD, I was able to just use everyone's S-crafts and kill it pretty quick.
it really and truly is. All the way back in Sky FC, the first four person party that you ever have is Estelle, Joshua, Scherra and Olivier. This ending was set up since the Bose region in the first chapter of Sky FC.
@Ultra Xtreme you haven't played it yet? yeah there's some really awkward cutoff. they start with voice, then it goes silent and you have to read, then voice comes back on again. most of the romance scenes aren't voiced either.
Man even though there's so much to dislike about the CS series, but despite all its shortcomings, I'm still so glad to have made it to the end. It's been an amazing experience. Thanks for making all the videos.
No. In fact it was the first appearance of her (but we heard her voice in Sky 3rd). There are some theories who she is, but nothing is certain. Though I think she and Campanella came from Beyond like McBurn did. Also it's possible that she is Aidios herself. But again, it's only theories.
You have to reload the save file after the true ending is shown MINOR SPOILERS: (Reload it to the point where you watch the cinematic again and it ends with Rean exiting his room at the branch campus)
@@notBilateral oooohhh I was hella confused when I finished my 2nd playthrough of the game and the grandmaster scene played I was like wtf!?!?!? I was flipping the shit out because i didn’t get it the first time I beat the game and didn’t know anything about this special scene at all.
Its nice that while Osborne was essentially robbed of having a father/son relationship with rean, he gained back some happiness being the father figure to his iron bloods
I still love that Crow and Georges punishment for lying, betraying and trying to kill Towa and Angelica comes down to "You two will be our servants at the wedding!"
Not really. If you didn't do the quest before setting off to the final Dungeon, when you load up your save there will be a teleport outside the Dungeon which will allow you to do the quest.
Don't tell me the true phantasmal blaze plan goal is to destroy the curse(ismelga). wether they obtain the septerrion or not. and grandmaster seems know many secret about zemuria. Grandmaster reveal soundtracks is called(way of heart) It's like she is kindess person who know the best things to prevents disaster cause by the humans itself. Perhaps she can watch around the world or see the future.
The true plan was to remove the Lost Zem and Ark Rouge Septerrions from humanity’s influence. In Crossbell they allowed it to vanish, and they personally took the Shining Ring of Liberl because The Faceless tried to use it for himself. They even hated the Third Anguis for trying to use it for himself rather than following the a Grandmaster.
@@lenleon3699 and I suspicious it was weissman who propose gospel plan to grandmaster, that mean he using ouroboros to achieve his goal. While grandmaster just accept him because it's part of her plan to obtain the septerion. I still believe she isn't the villain.
@@ayasdwiky6009 The interesting part is how intersected all the plots were. Ishmelga had a hand in causing the North Ambrian disaster (somehow) and seemingly fed on Weissman’s desires to cause the Hundred Days War and the Gospel Plan (because both events were necessary to causing the Great Twilight). The very source that allowed Richard to be manipulated in Sky was the Hundred Days War, so the entire Gospel Plan was truly Ishmelga and the Gnomes playing puppeteer. Even the Crois family were manipulated by the Gnomes into causing the events which led to the Crossbell invasion AND the a Civil War. Literally everything that has happened until CS4 has actually been the cause of the Septerrion of Steel playing at being a God. So honestly, we have yet to see Ourobouros true plan. We have only seen them helping others with their plans and giving a bare minimum effort. Even in Liberl it was Weissman who had a personal stake, the rest of Ouroboros was just winging it. As Alberich puts it “they just observe”.
@@ayasdwiky6009 The gospel plan was the Grandmaster's plan. The anguis follow the plans that the Grandmaster placed, they just act on their own to achieve it. The Grandmaster's plan is the Orpheus Final Plan which so far we know contains the Gospel plan as the first stage, Phantasmal Blaze Plan as the second stage, and Eternal Recurrence as the third or final stage. The Grandmaster was testing Weissman to see how he would act with the Aureole in his grasp, that is why in the SC of Sky Weissman even says that "that person" was testing him. Even the other anguis look down on him because he acted foolishly during the plan.
@@Zhyiber This is why I love the Legend of Heroes series. They're all interconnected and complexly woven together that make it so compelling. You just have to know more and how all things are related or influenced by one another.
In Japanese he goes kind of middle ground and uses the informal version (signifying he accepts him) but adds Osbourne’s name too to separate him from Teo (meaning both are equally his father).
To get this scene all you had to do was reload the epilogue save file after finishing the true ending. You skip through the scenes you already saw and after the scene where Rean leaves his room to meet the lover of your choice, it comes up. It is a crappy way they did it, but yeah all you had to do was reload once you finished watching the true ending.
i think its fair to say he was a chess piece in the ouroborous's plan. Seems like even when he supposedly "stole" the phantasmal blaze plan, he was doing what the grandmaster wanted all along.
Not a "true" hero, just a traditional one to play off of Rean being the modern hero. They both want the same thing but adopt different methodologies to get it. Osborne is willing to sacrifice everything, even himself. Meanwhile the entirety of the Cold Steel saga is Rean trying to reject this mindset with the help of everyone around him.
We don't know yet. Sounds to me like she is planning to repeat the Great Collapse, reset the world kinda. If we look at events from the Sky games to CS4, we have seen increasing numbers of "outside" events, more fiends from beyond, and stuff like that. The "barrier" between the "outside" and Zemuria might be about to break, and by resetting the world, it might reset the barrier too. The fact is that Ouroboros became active around the same time as Orbal tech was developed, and we have heard that the Septium veins are being depleted. Add to that, that the ancient Zemurian civ used Orbal tech, and it might be a constant loop, reset civilization to 0, let the barrier heal, until people develop Orbal tech and start messing up the barrier again, and do it all over again and again. Just a theory, but seems to be a popular one among fans.
just remember if you think youre an idiot, theres ishmelga that made an enemy of 3 main protagonists at once. next is ouroboros, i bet they will face all of protagonists at the end of series lol
@Kalakauai123 Spirit Unification was an 8L1B skill, the Ogre Power served as a boost to the power (With the price of being unable to control it) Well, from my understanding anyway - having not played HNK
It's interesting, since it almost seems like Ishmelga's power is also slightly weaker in the True Ending, because Franz was able to dispel Alberich whereas it was the reverse in the Normal Ending
I think it’s more, in the true ending Franz realized they may actually have a chance due to what Rean received from the holy beast, so he’s able to overcome Ishmelga’s influence, whereas in the normal ending neither him or Rean know about that so he doesn’t have the push to overcome Ishmelga
@@tialsofuebjsoqoahdkdjcj2272 In other words, Franz ended up giving up in the end during the main ending, meaning that Alberich had killed him by overtaking that part of his personality. Whereas, he was able to break out of Alberich's influence in the true ending because there was a chance of destroying Ishmelga. Makes sense, since Alberich wasn't there to "congratulate" him in the true ending, only turning up later when Rean was going to fly through the atmosphere in hopes of destroying Ishmelga for good
it's so stupid that the true end was unlocked through a side quest but guess what you couldn't go back to the part you have to have the side mission you had the save for that part before you go into the actual
It's a bit ironic really. Father from Fullmetal Alchemist and Ishmelga both resemble one another and they are even dealt similar fates. Good riddance I say.
You know what's even more ironic? The fact that the father of the MCs of FMA and Cold Steel are instrumental in defeating the big bad (Hohenheim being the one to reverse the alchemic circle and Osborne being the one to tricked Ishmelga)
They should have just given us this ending from the get go instead of hiding it behind some stupid arbitrary secret bullshit. The normal ending is so dissatisfying that it's a complete and total slap in the face of everything we've done and the message they've given throughout the entire series.
Oh my goodness. We got characters that actually stayed dead? That can't be right. Definitely enjoyed my journey through Cold Steel. Definitely flawed, but the sheer amount of content definitely helped me through covid.
in the first 2 cold steel 2 evil guy stay dead and we never see again the evil huge boob lady from 2 first game and i remember we see a big spider eating a jaeger guy in the first game

@@davidtimmer596 No that is just the requirement to get the true ending. To get the Ouroboros scene you need to reload the clear save file of the true ending.
just beat the game myself I just hope the sequel rean is the main character and more cock and less humble, I want people to be like oh shit when confronting rean like le guin
I'm going for the normal ending because I think that certain characters (Crow and Millium) should stay dead and not magically come back to life like in some fairy tale
...It is a game where magic and demigods exist, this was a one time thing, although it was very loose and ungrounded it still respects the laws of the game itself. Don't beat it too hard just enjoy the fanservice, the normal ending is a cliffhanger anyway, if you didn't want to accept how it played out in the true ending and decided to go with the normal one then you'll have the same problem when Rean comes back in the future and they have to somehow explain how he survived. (Crow doesn't deserve to die twice)
@@adloltery Better to die twice than come back to life through some asspull reason imo. Good thing I won't have to worry about the future because l don't plan on playing Hajimari. I'll take a look at the new Calvard arc game whenever it gets localized but I don't have high expectations.
Its to show that the next stage of the Orpheus plan is beginning (basically a new arc in the trails game). The first stage was done at the end of Trails in the Sky the 3rd and this game concludes the second stage of the plan. But if we go by the myth its referring to, its going to fail like how Orpheus failed. Curious what the final endgoal of the plan is but its sounding like they are trying to keep the Septerrions away from humanity as some kind of doomsday is coming or something. As of the end of Cold Steel 4, Ouroboros have their hands on the Space one, Mirage destroyed itself, Earth and Fire left this dimension as confirm by the grandmaster in the epilogue. I think all that is left is the Water, Wind and Time Septerrions if I recall as each stage seems to have certain Septerrions as the final goal. My theory is the Time one is next as the new stage includes the word 'recurrence' and 'eternal' in its title as something that'll keep repeating like maybe a Time Loop or something
@@sorenman1 my guess is the final step of the plan after getting rid of the septterions is to rewind time, in order to stave off the end of the world as someone else mentioned. the failure will be of the loop itself. they will eventually find a miracle so great it'll save the world from destruction, thus rendering the need to loop it null, causing the plan to fail.
After you get the normal ending. You reload the latest save data which takes you back and asks you whether you want to begin before Osborne's fight or after the fight. You pick after the fight ONLY IF you did all the finale side quests and got all the lost arts. If you did not do all of that then you pick before the Osborne fight and you will go outside the fortress (the entrance before you entered the dungeon) and you will see a red portal around the outside, you go near it and do whatever it is it makes you do. Then you will fight Osborne again and do the rivalry. After, a prompt will come up and ask if you want to do the true ending or normal ending, pick true ending and then you will go into the true ending. Keep in mind after the true ending is done there is a hidden scene that can be activated ONLY IF you reload the epilogue save file after you finish watching the true ending, skip through all of the scenes you saw in the epilogue then a hidden scene will pop up for you.
@@greg20067 I don't know about that, I can't seem to find anything, but it is located outside of the Empyreal Fortress. Basically where you first entered the dungeon it should be really bright and easy to spot.
@@greg20067 Oh well there isn't much of a difference, all that happens is they do that one quest where you have to take the holy beast down and that is it. So nothing new to be honest except one line that says he can alter fate or something like that.
Those are all we've got... as far as who she actually is, we couldn't tell you, though iirc we've supposedly met her in one of the trails games without knowing it (even though I doubt the ones before sky have much influence on the story of zemuria)
@@masterhand177 no, according to Kondo we met her at some point in the series. Same for the First Anguis though most people think he is Nielsen (blind journalist from Sen and Ao.
I find it rather cocky that the grandmaster thinks all the Enforcers and Anguis will return just because she says so. The Stahlritter for one just cared about Lianne Sandlot, and Lianne did not care about Ouroboros itself (or the Grandmaster). Vita seems to have doubts about the overall direction of the organization and with Mariabell there I doubt she’d return. And Sharon made a promise to Franz along with the obligation she feels toward the Reinford family so that’s another nope. Luciola might but then again she still feels conflicted due to Scherazard. So in that sense I think Campanella has more realistic expectations of who they can trust.
But the Grandmaster pretty much didn't say most of these things lol. I can understand the Stahlritter, but Mariabell said they would return, not the Grandmaster. Vita has even said herself multiple times that her loyalty will always be for the Grandmaster, there are methods she does not agree with, but she said herself her loyalty will not change hence why she is looking for a "new path" like the Grandmaster stated rather than quitting. Sharon pretty much quit, the Grandmaster said nothing about her return even Campanella said Sharon is a dropout. You would know that the Grandmaster has insight with all of this if you played sky the 3rd and listening to this dialogue now we know she knows what exactly is going to happen hence why she says all of what happened was "part of the process". Mariabell said everything that happens was within her knowledge and mercy which basically tells us she knew and let all of this happen. She knew Sharon would quit, she knew Vita would find another path, she knew Lianne would fall, she knew Mcburn would realize the truth of his home. In sky the third she even says that she knew the Faceless would cause his own demise, but didn't intervene. Luciola coming back makes sense since it was never confirmed that she left and especially after what she did in Crossbell it supports what Campanella said about her return.
@@Zhyiber Saying everything is in the scope of her plans is the epitome of cocky ness. She is quite literally declaring herself omniscient. That’s beyond even Osbourne’s level of being full of himself. And Osbourne was playing the cocky bad guy role on purpose. So either the Grandmaster is just that full of herself or she is on the level of Aidios in terms of knowledge and scope.
@@lenleon3699 Hm true she is still cocky since more than likely her plan will backfire, my bad on that part but like you said I think she just has so much knowledge, like what human being can give powers to other humans. She is not like everyone else, even Mariabell seems to praise her like some divine being. Still she didn’t say anything about expecting all the enforcers and anguis to return at all lmao. That was mainly Mariabell running her mouth and no one mentioned Sharon returning
@@Zhyiber I could have sworn that was the grandmaster’s line but yeah, it Was dumb Mariabell being dumb. Not like The Grandmaster earns points by pretending it was all according to plan that Joshua, Renne and Sharon left. That is entirely dismissive of their situations and the people that contributed to their abandoning the organization. Joshua you can give them because they sent him underground so they should have expected him to grow attached. But Renne abandoned them because Estelle kept chasing her, and Sharon grew attached to the Reinfords all by herself. Unless she can manipulate people on the same degree as Ishmelga I don’t see it.
@@lenleon3699 That or the Grandmaster has an ability that lets her see what would happen in the future. We don't know any of her abilities besides the fact that she can grant powers to other people, but from what she has said all we can theorize is she has to be some sort of divine being that can see fate itself. Some people theorize she has a power similar to KeA's where she can see causality. We can't think on normal terms for her case. The fact that she even states that the world has 3 years left before it returns to nothing pretty much tells us she knows a lot about the future.
