Trails of Cold Steel II - Boss 26: Lloyd & Rixia vs Black-Haired Boy & Black-Clad Girl (No Damage, Nightmare Mode) Playlist: • Trails of Cold Steel I...
@Heartless Angel Ketsueki I remember on the Valimar fights with Sara as copilot, she casts that skill that lowers enemy ATK, just spam it and the enemy can't make a scratch on you.
@Heartless Angel Ketsueki well... yeah. But noone FORCES you to "cheat" (play broken things). You can always play fair and don't bother with "optimisation" or "stacking".
This fight took so much out of me emotionally, like... Rean is just so sad with how his life turned out. He has no friends with him, he’s fighting for a cause he doesn’t believe in, and to top it all off... he has no where else to go. He’s just a tool of the Empire now.
but Llyod isn't? he got everything stack against him for than his team can even handle, crossbell gets taken over and there nothing he can and he fought a final battle knowing that crossbell will taken over by the empire.
His line from the end of the clip says it all. He wanted to proudly state he is a member of Thors Class VII with a smile... then stops himself and state he's merely a provisional imperial military officer, with a hint of sadness on his face. I am guessing not only does he realize he has been reduced to just a pawn, but also did not want to tarnish the good name of Class VII with his actions.
I think this would have been cool if falcom let you play this at the end of Azure AND in Cold Steel 2. Like you’d chronologically have no idea who Rean is and it’d leave so many questions into the new arc, then goosebump everyone when it came back. Well, too late now. 💀
@@thejonbrownshow8470 It'd be kind of a big spoiler to include Valimar in Azure for people playing in release order. Assuming people don't already know about him. (I sure did before playing beyond Sky SC because of watching speedruns and seeing ads for Cold Steel III.
@@ThanhTriet600well to be fair azure had no problem spoiling cold steel 1 and 2 before they even came out. They tell you about the civil war during azure, and for some ungodly reason the ending of azure mentions that gilliath wins the civil war.
Well I'll never attempt Nightmare without ALL party members at lv 200 including Lloyd/Rixia but you can't actually USE any shining pom items at this point even if you HAD any left. That and a lv 200 Lloyd/Rixia would barely break around 15,000 damage with their s crafts and BOTH Rean and Altina on Nightmare mode have WAY MORE HP then that.
@@veghesther3204I just did this nightmare for my first playthrough, and this fight was pretty easy. Nightmare is only really challenging at the start.
Man I wish Zero and Ao would receive a western release - the setting and characters in those games are so much more interesting to me than the school stuff from Cold Steel.
It’s not official, but at least there’s a fan translation for Zero happening that looks pretty legit. I’m looking forward to it. geofront.esterior.net That said, I’m a fairly newish Trails fan, so I might not know if there have been other attempts in the past or not, but it seems promising to me.
Yeah, I've only played the Sky and first two Cold Steel games and every time ToCS I&II mentioned "Something's happening in Crossbell!" I just wanted them to bring over the freaking games! XD This moment would have had so much more of an impact for me if I had gotten to know Lloyd and Rixia, but I just didn't have that experience.
I think both are equally interesting. Just different. BUT I would like an official release. It’s very kind of people to go so far and make a fan translation for the game, but at the end of the day, I’d still prefer to have official versions of the games. I really want a game in Calvard, but with IV being the end, I don’t think my wish will be granted lol
Not like it's hard to find his name either way, he just have to read the newspaper (not really well informed the SSS, not knowing the "Hero of Erebonia" ^^ )
@@guifire9747 Well to be fair for the SSS, they just recently finished their journey within the Azure Tree and Crossbell got quickly annexed just after the civil war in Erebonia.
@@jastusvhentor787 Well that's true, but that means that no member of the SSS (inculding their little genius behind the computer aka the dude who handle the intel) have access to a newspaper (or television for that matter), that's hard to swallow, Rean is like "the hero of Erebonia" that fight in Crossbell at that point, it's hard to believe that Lloyd and the other never heard of him or Valimar But as you said maybe they're were too caught up in other business to keep an eye on the "official" face of the annexion
@@guifire9747 To be frank, in Kiseki games, the names of characters are purposely hidden until 'proper introduction.' As for the SSS, during my playthrough of Zero no Kiseki (through Geofront patch), I've learned that the Special Support Section is a semi-independent division of the Crossbell Police Department that still gets their information from either their chief/authorities, an external "informant", or the Crossbell Times newspaper, exclusive to Crossbell. In Crossbell they don't sell Liberl News or Imperial Chronicle, TVs aren't invented yet, nor does any Crossbell Times issue mention the "Hero" of Erebonia. Rean was never mentioned in both Ao and Zero. Either way, the SSS and the Bracer Guild was truly preoccupied with the Azure Tree, and Osborne took this as an opportunity to annex Crossbell finally. With Crossbell under annexation, the Intelligence Division censors and neutralizes threats, tearing the members of the SSS & CPD apart... Jona, Tio, and Cao obviously knows Rean's identity through their intercontinental networks of information, however, what they failed to anticipate is that Lechter is 2 steps ahead, and his plan would be executed by Rean, instead of him fighting Calvardian Forces. So with Lloyd and Rixia going underground, under constant pressure/getting hunted by the Intelligence Division, and acquiring scarce info from a mafia boss, yea it would make sense why they don't know who the 'skilled warrior' was.
Before I thought it was stupid that they removed overdrive because it was Rean's power as a Divine Knight pilot, but seeing Lloyd use it made it look silly.
@@si-level Who knows, tho I'd imagine it's because class VII didn't have a strong enough bond with each other to actually use it until CS2. Considering CS1 was them developing said bonds, which makes sense why they would only have links during CS1 events. Now tbf, I've only played CS1 & am currently on my NG+ of CS2(act 2 part 4 and still blitzing through it) so idk the situation of previous games.
Lloyd's team already had a proto-Overdrive in their original games (but only in Ao/Azure as far as I can remember) named Burst, so it makes a bit of sense.
For this strategy you only need Chrono Break, everything else is just a bonus. Lloyd EP Cut 1 Saintly Force Shield Breaker Dark Matter Forte EP Cut 2 Adamantine Shield Chrono Break Rixia Action 2 Attack 3 Youkai Gem Zeus Gem Sleep 2 Impede 2 Saintly Force Chrono Break
Since I'm here I feel like I should try to make a list like a month later lol, here goes: -AT delay -Fie -Chrono Burst Tauros+Domination Waterfall Aries+Water bell Evasion Faint Triple advantage Orochi Force Ogre Form Vermillion Chevalier Shining Heavely blessing Moebius Impede quartz Cypher/Juggler S-crafts Overdrive Murakumo crit builds And I might've forgotten a few
So? Rean's a martial artist with 7+ years of training before even going to Thors, at this point in the story he also spent a whole year practicing his swordsmanship in actual combat. Ironically Rean trained longer under Ka-Fai than Joshua and Renne did under Weissmann. Some Crossbellan cop beating experienced 8L1B users with tonfas (non-lethal weapon) is bullshit but it's still not as bad as in Azure, you know what I'm talking about if you've played that game.
@@hahmann not exactly sure what you mean by "8L1B" , but I suppose I'll see what you mean then xD, to me Lloyd can survive running into a black hole more or less (as I spoiled the ending of azure on myself just cuz lol), so to me, he should be able to handle Rean 😂
@Heartless Angel Ketsueki I know I'm like a year late but have you considered simply not breaking the game mechanics? Like yeah, all that stuff is "nonsensical" but you can just choose not to do it lol
@Heartless Angel KetsuekiIt might be just the way I play but I never felt like I handicapped myself too hard. I played the game on hard and avoided stuff that looked too powerful (like Domination for example). It might just be me though
I actually enjoyed it wasnt too friendship based in my opinion the friendship thing become overkill my friend will save me is just a bit much become strong so you dont have to depend on them instead of becoming dependent to bail your butt out I like this version of rean better he has a edge and I think if he stayed this way he could truly rival Cassius one day maybe that's why I like arios more as a character
That's not really the case with Rean. He never did anything villainous, for he didn't help invade Crossbell, but rather repel Calvard for causing trouble in the annexed Crossbell.
Seriously i was happily surprised that rean is following orders and not being an emotionnal kid everytime. I hated him when he said to osborn why was he alive and that everything Crow did was for nothing and died in the end, for god's sake he was a terrorist leader in the story... just because he help you with a boss you can't forget everything
well he IS still a kid but a matured one, he just lost his friend and it makes him unstable, it's good enough that he stopped at yelling and not pulling his sword out lol
@@butler3251 guess what, I'm thinking something that Osborne isn't truly a villain and Rean also isn't feels like a hero. Osborne act like he is a Villain but actually have a Good Reason behind it and about the annexation of Crossbell isn't trully bad in my eyes. He is more like Anti-Villain. Rean in here shows that he never actually wanna be a hero, he just want to cure the darkness state of his that eventually make him likes to get dragged anywhere just so he can focus it on something else and won't hurt anyone. Different from Estelle and Lloyd, Rean is focused more on how to solve problems in a very calm way and try to not get to fight more than necessary. It's my impression on his action as it's really grounded even with the appearance of Cliché Anime Protagonist.
@@bimoprakoso2820 ok, so in your opinion, Rean isn't really a hero, nothing wrong about that I guess. But there is also an undeniable fact that the game calls him a hero because of his actions between cs2-cs3, he did a lot for the country in that period of time tho we didn't get to see it since it happens after cs2 and ends before cs3 starts.
I know that. My question is, is this event happened in Ao as well? I haven't played that game yet but I want to know if they fought Rean & Altina in that game too?
Of course not. That would spoil things in the Erebonia side if you consider the chronological order of being released with Ao in 2011 and CS 2 2014. It's like knowing who the characters and ending of CS2 3 years before it was released. The story of Ao ended once they took down the Azure tree. When I say ending, you get the ending credits once they saved KeA.
There is a plot hole, if overdrive was able for Rean and friends because they are awakeners why does Lloyd and Rixia? I'm happy they made a connection to Ao but they did it awfully, specially the reverie
dansegful its probably gonna be explained in sen 3 especially like how red gnosis wasn't explained in zero/ao no kiseki, falcom tends to use those bits and explained them in the 3rd game like how 3rd explained sky fc and sc plot threads.
In Ao no Kiseki (one of the Crossbell games), I know that there is a mechanic called Burst that works very similarly in functionality. It could be a simple thing of it coming back. However, I don't know what causes burst in Ao as I haven't played it so this could a plot hole. Edit 7 months later: Burst is caused when there is high tension (plot wise) like at the end of a chapter. Eg, the mechanic is available for the entirety of the final chapter of Ao. Though it works very differently. 1. You need 4 alive members in the party. 2. It works for 8 turns. 3. Status regeneration works differently while under its effects. 4. Its even more op than overdrive lol.
I'm pretty sure you're right Oguzhan, when Sara and Toval use Overdrive, they say that they are "using rean as a medium". However, this isn't possible for all characters. The only way to explain that is bonds between characters. (the only characters that do what I just said are Alisa and Sharon plus Sara and Toval)
You spam S-Craft and hope Altina doesn't fuck you over with Ragna Break. Works everytime. Don't forget to use Adamantine Shield because these two rarely use Arts against you and you should be fine. Conserve CP for S-Craft and spam it whenever you're able
For me, I just spammed Burning Heart buffed Brave Charge and True Falling Moon on them over and over. AT Delay, Seal and Faint is more than enough to turn them into punching bags without Chrono Break. Outside of a cheap attack because Altina came in first in the turn order, they never landed a second attack.
Loyd is like beta version of Rean though, but then again, after four dedicated to his development games, half of which are biggest in the franchise, there are simply no MCs who could be correctly compared to Rean, except Kevin, because he is too original in regards to other "cast" and their trump card for Calvard arc.
@@coupdegrace2767 uhh..original? He's just another snowflakes character and pseudo self insert for player...and also needs 4 games and time skip to solve the problems in his game
@@naveekuroCIX And the vast majority would disagree with you there. Rean is largely regarded as the best Kiseki protagonist and generally one of the best JRPG protagonists period. But yeah, it's not surprising that people with short attention spans would focus on the self insert nonsense just because of the romance options / harem spiel - and while he has the benefit of being a character developed over the course of 4 games, that's all part of the narrative after all. Have you even played the Cold Steel games? Obviously Rean and Co. took longer to "solve the problems in their game" because they're dealing with things on a considerably larger scale.
@@appetizingly nope Estelle is still more popular than him and he's got benefit with his games much easier to access than mcs from the previous arc and he gets 4 games+the upcoming epilogue for sen game. And yeah i've played all the sen games including 3&4...they just repeat the same structure with the same problem except with some new enemies.
Funny thought rewatching this: Rean and Altina would hardcore lose most likely. Even with ogre power. Maybe even with Valimar. Sure, it isn't the full SSS, but we're speaking: Rean vs Lloyd, Lloyd who survived a full blown Septerrion-class entity. Altina vs Rixia, see above for Rixia. Ogre Rean vs Lloyd, who at best has fought McBurn when he wasn't trying, or his whole class vs the Vermillion Knight (whose power comes out to ~2/7ths of a Septerrion). Lloyd again fought a Septerrion AND the Lance maiden at this point. Valimar vs Lloyd/Rixia - Lloyd and the SSS fought a Septerrion empowered Aion, ON FOOT. We don't know how powerful that is, but it's powerful enough that canonically the same Aion (sans upgrades to work without a Septerrion) kicked Valimar's ass when paired with 2 of New Class 7's Soldats, WHILE NOT SEPTERRION EMPOWERED. It took a plot buff for Rean to win. Lloyd and crew outright smashed the Aion at its best. When you break it all down, Lloyd at this point has better feats than anything Rean has. Rixia too. Rean's overall achievements are quite frankly reliant on his whole class, Ogre Power, or Valimar, and the latter does not have a great track record vs Aions solo. Overall Rean eventually catches up to Lloyd I'd say by the end of CS4, maybe Hajimari. Cause let's be entirely honest: Rean relies on Valimar too much up until the end to do what Lloyd and Estelle's groups would do on foot.
I'd believe it if Rean wasn't holding back this entire time, and even Rixia herself stated they are no match for Ogre/Valimar. Llyod is mainly very tanky, determined cop with arguably better leadership skills and charisma. Rean has a deadlier fighting style, super powers, and can summon Valimar whenever he wants.
You're saying that Rean is reliant on his class (consistent of people mostly weaker than him) but then completly ignoring that Lloyd had the help of a powerful jaeger, trained assassin and one of the dominion in all of the fights you mentioned. Not only that but the SSS didn't even beat Arianrhod or the Aion like you imply they did.
@@lighto5083 They beat the Aion, full stop. They forced Dieter to have to activate the bond to the Septerrion to begin repairing the thing (which has been disabled by this point), and then he was kicked out of it by the sudden betrayal of the Conspiracy and Ouroboros. In short, they did enough damage to force it to rewind causality and force a recharge. See: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-pUKyTpc4JOk.html You also got to remember that Lloyd was able to hold his own equal to Randy in many respects (held his own against Shirley and Testarossa's chainsaw better than even Randy did). Lloyd has plenty of feats under his belt as an individual at the least, so we shouldn't dismiss that. Also you got to remember, again, the SSS was 7 members big vs the Aion and Arianrhod (base 4, Rixia, Noel, and Wazy). Class 7 required 2 Panzers and a Divine Knight. They never once tried to fight those things themselves out of abject terror probably spawned as a result of their incident with that first Panzer Soldat back during CS1. So again, in terms of feats of busting mechs, we see Lloyd's team has always had more success than Class 7. Not only that, but again - they beat an Aion, on foot. We constantly see Lloyd compared as equal to the rest of his batch, wherein in CS, Rean is often put, without Ogre power, below Laura/Fie in combat ability, often by his own admission. There's other minor bits too. Like Rean and crew struggling to beat Duvalie when she was exhausted from fighting Lloyd and crew (even though she had the same Archaisms as her fight with Rean Co). Or the fact that it's noted by Rixia that Duvalie's actually trying against the SSS when she lost ("She's faster than me"), wherein Class 7 went full defensive when Duvalie started trying and went full speed and Olivier and Toval had to aide them. So yes, in Cold Steel 2, all feats point to Rean being weaker than Lloyd. Lloyd could face something Rean never even dared to (Aion). Lloyd could already take part in a battle to crack the Steel Maiden's helmet - something that Rean never did even years later with his Ogre Power (even if he couldn't control it at the time and was solo). Finally, Rean went on the defensive when Duvalie put her full effort out, but Lloyd and crew beat her at her full effort (as confirmed by Rixia). Maybe Ogre Rean could etch out ahead, but Rixia was already comparable to Duvalie (if slightly slower) during that time. And Duvalie was stronger than Altina, by far. Everything points to a win for Lloyd+Rixia vs Rean+Altina.
I watched the video and I can say that this guy play a lot of NG+ run multiple time. maybe 4 times include credit transfer from easy -> normal -> hard -> nightware. the way I see with character can damage bosses like that. must be play too many run. this guy must have legendary equipments and assessories. level must be more than 150.
U dont even need to credit transfer, this part of the game is so ridiculously easy due to overdrive and their crafts. I did a no damage run in this fight even without chrono break Just have rixia spam her boomerang which usually faints after awhile. Get llyod to burning rage and spam his charge move(with impede quartz) If they ever get too far apart just havr rixia use her chain craft to bring em close together. Even if the enemies get a turn, they usually suffer from faint Broken af But i still love it
The only time i ever had a hard point playing nightmare was during the first fight with C in cold steel 1, the rest were all quite manageable, borderlining on easy even
