@@theflippingcoin975 It's more clear in the book than in the anime, but Aoi is pretty much his entire motivation, and he cares less about Sakura so much as he just wants to be Sakura's daddy, it's just that his selfish reasons largely coincide with the the good action of trying to save a child. His inner monologue for the entire chaper where he strangles Aoi is pretty much just an incel freakout.

No he didn't. He could've tried to save Sakura in other ways. Tokiomi would've helped if Kariya told him that Zouken wasn't actually training her to be her best possible. Instead he was an idiot and actively sabotaged his own "rescue" attempts.
