Norfolk Southern Train With DPU Blocks Busy Railroad Crossing In Arlington Heights, Ohio Just Like I Saw On The Television News. 3 Trains Passed The Stopped Train Before It Moved. Also Includes Union Pacific Power Leading Train In Elmwood Place & 2 CSX Trains Passing In Cincinnati. All Of These Trains Are On The Same Norfolk Southern Line That Goes To Cincinnati.
I was watching the television news when I saw a story about trains stopping in Arlington Heights and blocking a busy road crossing. They also block the crossings in nearby Lackland. I went to Arlington Heights to see if this really happens. The first train to come through was a southbound train headed to Gest Street Yard in Cincinnati. Sure enough, it stopped over the main crossing in town and sat there for a long time. 3 northbound trains passed the stopped train before it started to move again.
The first northbound train came at the perfect time for me! While I was filming the southbound train's DPU all of a sudden I see a northbound train with mixed freight coming with the engine running long hood forward just like in the Norfolk & Western Railway days.
Shortly after that another train passes going northbound. This is an empty grain train.
The third train to pass is a manifest with a DPU shoving on the rear. That was a good one. After that I was considering whether or not to leave but I stuck around to see if the train would ever move. I finally got to film the rest of the train moving past me. After it passed me I show an air B&B house that I want to rent for a couple of nights to watch the trains pass in front of it. That is an old house that appears to be full of history. Should I stay there and make a video showing what it's like and how many trains pass it? Leave a comment. I know it's expensive but I will do it if I can come up with a good video like the one I did in LaGrange, Kentucky of the air B&B next to the street running track.
On the same day I also filmed a couple more trains that you will see next. The first train is heading to Gest Street Yard and is in Elmwood Place, Ohio. This is an NS train with Union Pacific leading. This is the first time that I have filmed this crossing from this angle. I was in my truck. lol
Finally, we head about a mile south of Elmwood Place to catch a northbound CSX freight train at the CSX and NS interchange. I had to wait for a southbound train to clear up before I was able to get the CSX train. I wish the southbound train had one less car but I still think the video came out pretty good. This train was filmed behind the Kroger's at Spring Grove. I rarely film here because the area is a little shady. I have seen several television news stories about bad things happening here. Anyway, I was glad to see this long mixed freight going up the Toledo Sub.
