RIP engineer Jim.....a interesting fact......he trained my father on the rock island....my dad was one of the last to get hired at bankruptcy......Jim and conductor HL Calay are running commuters in the sky.....my father carried on to CNW after the Rock shutdown then in 1991 BN.....he was seen in many railfan videos and metra summer fare commercials......I surely hope my father and him are still running trains and playing cards.....the stories i remember of the Rock Island are priceless to any other railway my father worked.... RIP in JIm RIP Hank Calay 1944-2001
@MprosserTell you what....where do you live around, don't tell me the exact town, but I will give you tips for interviewing with BNSF.....and honestly you WILL NOT get the job in your first interview....
@MprosserMy dad worked in the Rock Island, then CNW and finished at the BN......of course he used the military to his advantage.....BUT......lately they would rather hire collage grads or someone with computer back grounds.
I retired from ATSF in 1986 as a Throttle Jerker, I remember when I was a Fireman on the old Baldwin Steamers in 1945 then became a throttle jerker in 1946. Enjoy your retirement.
God Bless You In Heaven, Engineer Jim. #RIP. You've Been Awesome. We Love You. Goodbye. Have With Your "Dead Railroad Engineer Drivers" Up In "Railroad Heaven". ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
What a great tribute. I had my one and only cab ride courtesy of RI conductor Kenny Campbell from Glenwood in 1966 on a com run from La Salle St. to Blue Island. Haven't forgotten it. Nice video. Think the "Rock Island Line" would have work too as a song track.
They never appreicate people like Jim who helped made the railroad, now they hire all these youngster who don't a rat's ass or care about their job !!! Then bosses wonder why morale is down around the railroad industry !!! RIP Jim Scott, I didn't know you but sounds like you were cool person !!!
Thats so true im 26 now and I don't really want a railroad job because noadays just like you said most of theae young people who are hired out have no clue how to run a railroad. Now its not about what know its who you know. It wasn't about management being up your ass all the time but it was about having fun with co workers and not haveing to deal with alot of bullshit. My great grandfather worked as a crossing guard for the PRSL back in the 50s. Most of these young people who they hire now most of them know people who work for the same railroad like parents, anut or uncle and etc. Its not what it used to be at all!
@@NJT4211 like you know how to run a railroad ya fucking 30 year old goof ball? You're prolly just pissed cause you couldn't get hired on with any RR and now you're acting like it was your choice to not work there haha.
Great video. I had one question though. What was that song playing in the backround on the radio when it showed the car driving on the highway? God Bless
