The Museum of Science and Industry has been known for years for their fantastic train layout. The layout depicts the rail lines from Chicago to Seattle. Originally built in O Scale and funded by the Santa Fe Railroad, the exhibit has thrilled visitors for generations. While the gauge, scenery, and railroads have changed, the layout remains a masterpiece. The Museum of Science and Industry has many incredible exhibits beyond their exhibits on railroading. In fact, this layout sets below a United 727 exhibit which hangs from the ceiling of the museum. The museum boasts a German submarine, the U505, the Pioneer Cypher, and the first steam locomotive to go over 100 MPH, the 999. If you like trains and you are in Chicago, this is a must see. Almost as fun as being there, is this tour with GFW Trains... and friends.
