Today I'm going to continue our adventure at Sand Patch Grade route in one of the scenarios on our journey through Train Sim World 2.

Hello everyone, with the release of Rush Hour DLC Maps there were some changes to game mechanics, if anyone doubts if those settings are still working you can check out my livestream that I did shortly after Dresden - Riesa route came out to see if those settings still works. Agreed. Even the keybinds are very difficult Took me forever to get the train moving. Only thing that impresses me is that it looks better the. Train simulator 2014 which I can’t run at all now

I'm here because the developers couldn't properly explain how to play their own game. Really blown away that they can model all these realistic (I assume) details that play a crucial role in being able to complete the scenario but then get said details completely wrong. I watched your playthrough while doing it myself. Super helpful man - thank you!

A couple tips for those trying to finish this scenario: 1) Make sure to set the train up exactly as Fluffy has shown. 2) If you have a red signal, back off the speed to around 10 mph until the signal changes to yellow. If you get within 1000 yds of the signal and it is still red, drop your speed to 5 mph. If you get within 200 yds, drop your speed to as close to 1 mph as you can and hold it. This way you will never have to actually come to a stop and go through the effort of getting the train moving again. Also, you can gauge how fast the train front of you based on how long it is taking to clear the signals. I found it averages around 10-15 mph. You can set that speed when you're concerned about the train in front clearing the block in time.

BRO!!! This video saved my TSW2 experience. I was ready to give up because of this route. The game really sets you up for failure. Your video taught me how to set up the trains Correctly and I could tell a difference from the start. I've failed on this route about 4 times and that's a long time to make it halfway up a mountain and can't figure out why. Thank you so much Admiral!!

Same for me. I am playing this game for quite a while. Still I failed by hitting the second red signal after one hour. Couldn't stop the train. Will try again another day now that I somewhat know how to setup the locos. Man what a fail be DTG. It almost made me not play the game anymore. I have most of the DLCs but still such a scenario has to be tested.

At a point when 6.8 kms were left, my wheels always started spinning, even when I used sand. I will finally be able to finish it now, thanks a lot.

Thank you so much for this. After three failed attempts over close to five hours using the [wrong] settings prompted by dovetail, I finally completed this. The info about the comms resetting the cutoff in the comments was really helpful too. I used my camera to go back and redo those settings, but the game seems to crash when jumping between first person view in the lead cab and the rear of the train. Happened twice before resigning myself to bring the camera back to the front. This was on the console version.ive got to explore if there's any easy of going to front or back in free cam mode. Yet another thing not explained on the game. Anyways, thanks again.

I couldn’t get past the last 14miles I kept getting slippage on the wheels no matter what I tried I would roll right back down the mountain. Especially when it started 1.5% incline. Yeah you definitely saved me a whole lot of frustration because I was ready to throw out my system with game included!! Lol 😂

Thank you so much! I just picked up this game and probably tried this half a dozen times before looking for help and I found this. With the game's settings, I maybe got 2/3 of the way before I got stuck, but after going along with your plan I got it first try! Before I maybe topped out at 11 mph, but this time it went almost exactly like you showed. I was overall a few minutes behind you, so I actually only had to come to a full stop once; at what was your last stop, but was able to get going again without much hassle. Again, thank you, I was getting very frustrated with this game after getting to this scenario.

I struggled moving my train with the recommended settings the game was giving. Such a waste of time! Then I found your channel. Thanks! I'm not sure how far this helps others, but I got all the signals go Yellow/Green when I did not hold 'Shift' key to run, just walk up to the front end of the train, that will cover and give enough time for the 1st train to pass.

I am half way through following your guide and I thought I'd leave a comment. Thank you for your guidance. I didn't know about the BP before watching this and was constantly getting wheel slips, at the junction just before 1:21:30 I was able to replicate your actions using the sand. I also wasn't to sure on the differences between the independent and automatic however after watching this I have a good understanding of the two. Attempting this journey alone before I was doing okay reaching 30mph but as soon as I hit the mountains the speedo was saying 300mph going backwards, that was because I hadn't set the tandems up correctly. @@FluffyAdmiral Well you say that but stuff like the using of sand was useful to me. However you say we must turn on the radio as we will find out later in which part did you use it or what happens if you don't turn it on?

@@iLukey96 Yeah, because the radio in second tandem is needed to operate it remotely from first tandem. I think I explained that in 15th or 16th minute of the video. Also, my bad the guide might be about 20 minutes long :P As for me using the sand... Later on you'll find out that the game is not simulating things right or things are set differently for this scenario and sand is basically not needed at all ;)

According to the scenario, normally the rear engines would normally be run separately, so imagine going up the grade with this train with only the 2 fronts sd40-2s

Amazing. First trip through I was using 8 engine speed and when a train passed on my left it shook the tracks and I lost grip. That run was lost cause I force quit and didnt save.

59:30 I have to use all breaks like automatic breake, indipendent break, and dynamic break with full. However after that now the train does not move more than 15 km/h.. How can I fix that? @Fluffy Armchair Admiral

i found helpful in the downhill sections was to use dynamic brake to help control the speed too when on the way to the stop at location marker where the drive motor is converted to a generator driven by the energy of the trains thus excersisng a retarding force

I know this is an older video, and I didn't want to read all of the comments. You asked for an idea of remuneration for experienced engineers. I knew someone in the 80's whose uncle was one. Fast forward to today. We are looking at $200.00 an hour. You must also understand that taking a 3000 mile job you are paid 24 hours a day till finished. Which includes overtime and double overtime. A very good package to be sure.

Interesting, I had so much struggle with this route and this scenario in particular I just abandoned the whole sand patch grade route. I really love the rest of the game and have played many routes but sand patch or in general the US freight routes are just beyond me, it always feels like my train is overloaded and I just cant climb up the gradients at all and get stuck.

thanks for the tips. I have got stuck at those lights many times and still have not finished this quest. I keep quitting over frustration. I think it may help if I wait at those first lights with that train leading. Wait there for like 30-40 minutes after the light changes, so I get yellow or green lights the whole route.

update those settings were wrong in my game. Couldn't even get the lead locomotive to start the run. So I quit again just didn't want the walk back and forth to return settings... Maybe I will try tomorrow with that rear locomotive pushing at throttle 3 through the whole run

@@magnacarta7136 I think the developers changed sth. I only could move it by closing the cutout valve in the 3 train so the 2nd lead train. Try this. Btw you don't have to walk. Just use the camera with the numbers 3. You can move with the arrows and use everything. Then come back with 1 to your lead engine

at 21:32 it started showing yellow signal below the inclination symbol and showing red in the power symbol 3 and after slowing it completely stopped and not moving at all did every step same as yours also PCS open is showing red automatically now any idea what went wrong? solved it had to switch off the "warning alert in fuse box" thanks for the guide

This may have been patched slightly now as I set up as per the video and went nowhere, restarted, set up as per the tutorial (plus turned on Banking Comms) and it worked perfectly, I flew through this scenario in the end

Thank you very much for providing clear instructions on what to do in this scenario where the tutorial is insufficient and incorrect. I have only one question, which is general: if, by mistake, I put the automatic brake on "emergency", no matter what I do later, the train keeps braking even after I use the lever to "release" everything. Is there a way to "solve" this issue? In any case, as I said, thank you very very much. Very clear tutorial. :-)

I made it about halfway where the track goes up to 1.6 1.5 for the hills and my train got stuck then a couple minutes later it started to roll back

Eff it, I just wait 10 Minutes at the first light, then I don't run into any reds after that. Be about 10 MPH under, and you shouldn't have to stop once! That competing against those lights was annoying. Also, if it the first light doesn't want to change, you need to exit the Train, and run to the over pass behind you, and then back. That happened like 4 times to me, and that's the only way I was able to get it to change.

I don't think it's hardest one, but it's definitely a huge shock if you don't know how to set up your locomotives. Later on you do the same route multiple times.

I ran a little far stopping the entire consist just past the summit and now the signal at the crossovers refuses to clear. Might be because I've saved the game though, so gonna try sitting down with a good number of hours to spare and try to finish this in one sitting.

As long as any part of current train is on the objective marker it should trigger the next one. Also make sure that you fulfilled active task like setting reverse or some other stuff like that so the game will trigger the next event.

I don't understand this at all. I completely followed this entire video and around Mance I hit like a invisible wall, my train completely stopped dead in its tracks and slowly started going backwards completely unsavable. I have attempted to complete this mission at least three times now and I still cant complete it running into the same issue.

Make sure to activate Banking COMM in the first locomotive and to turn on the radio fuse in first loco of the second tandem, this way your inputs will be relayed to the second tandem and you should be able to climb all the way to to your destination.

It takes a bit of practice to get that train moving again if you have to stop. My advice is to set throttle to 3, release the brakes and then as the train will finally start rolling, gradually increase the throttle by a notch to gain more speed and repeat the process up until notch 8. If at any point you'll get wheelspin, just drop down to previous notch and use a bit of sand for extra grip.

You have to be more careful while driving. If previous light is yellow, reduce your speed or be super cautious when looking after next signal ;)

Hey. Just here to tell you that those settings dont work anymore. I think they patched sth. The only way it starts moving is to close the cutout valve on the 3rd MU so the traling lead engine. And I think this makes sense. By switching the auto brakes to handling off the equalising resevoir will be depressurized so by opeing the valve the brake pipes will be too because they are now connetced. When closing the valve, the brake pipes cant be emptied anymore and the lead engine fills up them again. This works for me so far. I tried another version with open valve and released auto brakes which works too because now 2 engines are supplying pressure to the brake pipes but while braking the pressure doesent go down on the traling wagons because the trailing MU fills it up again, so only the front wagons brake . In my opinion this must be wrong if we look on the real physics of pressure. Could you try the mission again with your settings and see if it does work? Maybe I did sth wrong but I triple checked every setting. btw you can change settings even with your flying camera on the number 3 so you dont have to run.

Everything seems to work fine for me. Brake setting will have an impact on how fast your brake pipe will refill. For each locomotive settings are as follows: Starting from the rear of the train to make it easier for everyone: 4th loco - Set up as trail Engine run: off Generator field: off Fuel pump: off Automatic brake: handle off Cut-out valve: Cut-out MU Valve: Trail 6 or 26 Radio & HOTD Fuse: off 3rd loco - Set up as lead Engine run: on Generator field: on Fuel pump: on Automatic brake: Full Service Cut-out valve: Freight MU Valve: Lead or Dead Radio & HOTD Fuse: on 2nd loco - Set up as trail Engine run: off Generator field: off Fuel pump: off Automatic brake: handle off Cut-out valve: Cut-out MU Valve: Trail 6 or 26 Radio & HOTD Fuse: off 1st loco - Set up as lead Engine run: on Generator field: on Fuel pump: on Automatic brake: Full Service Cut-out valve: Freight MU Valve: Lead or Dead Radio & HOTD Fuse: on When you finish setting everything up, look on your radiostation in first locomotive and find button that says Banking COMM, turn it on. What it does in the game it remotely controls the second lead locomotive, passing your input to the rear. If you don't turn it on, you won't be able to release the brakes as we set up automatic brake in 3rd locomotive to full service too. After it's on, release automatic brakes, set the reverser forward and wait until Brake Pipe (BP) Charges up to 88 - 89 Psi (It will take up to 2 minutes). You should be easily able to move that train from the yard on notch 2.

After I activated the banking comm the brake on the 3rd Mu change from full service to Handel off and closed the cur off valve. 😂 So I think the developers programmed the game to change the automatic brake position and cut off valve when you activate the comm System. Not very realistic. I tested it like 2 minutes ago multiple times.

At 1:40:50 when the distance remaining is around 5 miles, I see that your loco speed is still at 24mph. When I was playing this game and started the elevation between the mountains, my loco speed dropped to 10mph and by the time I reach the above mentioned distance, the loco is unable to move as the wheels slips. What can I do to complete this level?? I use a gaming PC

@@FluffyAdmiral hey.. I tried following your steps that you mentioned.. But still it didn't work for me. Only thing that happened was that the train reached the distance where it was 2.4mil away from destination when you have an incline of 2.0%. That very time its wheels started slipping and the train moving backwards.. Even sometimes the breaks couldn't hold the train. At one time I was able to stop the train and repeat the instructions. After BP reached 89-90 I would release the breaks and throttle to 3 or 4.. But the train would not move. Please help. 😣😣

@@allanmaximus3670 After you set everything up, make sure to turn Banking COMM on your radiostation in front loco. It will allow you to use that extra locomotives you attached and it should help you get through that incline. If your wheels start to slip use sand and you should get through. Finally, in latest patch with Driesden - Riesa route release, some locomotive physics were changed so I can't gurantee that this will work.

@@FluffyAdmiral wooohoooo!!!! I finally did it.. All these days I was not able to finish the level. Everytime the train would slip backwards when we arrive at 2% incline. All I did this time was with the help of free cam I went to the rear loco engines and set the position to forward and backward respectively and controlled its throttle manually the train began to move forward and slowly came at a steady pace. Then it became easier for me to complete the level. Thanks for all the help you gave. ☺☺

MAn your real close but this is still not fully correct there is a way to get the pipe pressure up faster, and your lights are not correct.

I don't like how the game assumes you either played TSW1/2020 or work as an Engineer. Because the tutorials barely touch on how to move around and that's it. No DPU setups, not even how the signal lights work. Thanks to your vid I realized I could simply travel at 18mph the whole time and look at the map to see the other train and when it would pass the required signal so mine would turn Yellow. I didn't had to break a single time and only arrived 3 minutes after you did.

I don't know why Devs never explained that in the tutorials, but that's one of the biggest complaints I got against this product. While I love many things about this game, tutorials are definitely one of the weakest points. They're too basic and Players never receive knowledge they need from those. Hopefully at some point they will improve on that field.

There is a lot of other stuff that is not explained in the tutorials, but this definetly is the worst part of it so far i saw. Need to read forum and watch videos like this one to know how to do it, great for content creators and nicely done in the video. But why not explained in game? .... oh i know, the fully fueled scenario tends to bug in the last 800yards and last signal stays perma red. They dont want anyone to get there.

The train stopped moving about 4 -5 miles out. I went to the trailing engines and set it up like you showed and was able to make it.

I’m pretty new to this game and that I’m doing this my biggest complaint is that the game doesn’t fully prepare you for things like this. Don’t give me wrong I think this is an excellent game but you’re not given all the information that you need to be more successful. I’d much rather be told what I need to know and fail then not being told at all. Thank God you made a very detailed video that explains it all so that going forward if I have to run a scenario with multiple cars and multiple loco motives at least now I will know how to do it. And that’s no thanks to the game but that is all thanks to you

If you want your brake pipe to charge faster, leave Reverser in Neutral and feed in 1 notch of throttle. Gets that Air compressor working a bit faster. Edit: Another Tip - That distant Red signal at 56:00 in the video. You know there's a train in front of you. That heavy of a train you're operating at 1.8 miles out doing over 35mph, drop the throttle to 0 and get your speed down to about 5-10 mph. Just need a small set on the Automatic. This will keep you from needing to start from a dead stop. Don't accelerate back to track speed if the Red changes to Yellow until you have passed the signal so you get the next distant signal. When you're that heavy and climbing a steep grade, stopping is the last thing you want to do. Just let it crawl.

If you do the set up quickly, and drive around 19 km/h at the first part you get to the switch quicker than the other train so you dont have to stop at all :)

I spent two days of my life trying to figure out why the train couldn't move at the beginning of the mission. It turns out that the in-game instructions are incorrect!!! (time code 10:20). As a result, due to the wrong setting of the locomotives, I could not overcome the first ascent.

I tryied to do the timetable service Q249 with ac440 coupled with sd40-2 (with no helpers loocos pair on the end), I set the weather to snowy and wet, and there is no chance to pass the summit. Train always stops at the beginning of the grade after passing Hyndman checkpoint. Do you have any advise how to pass the summit with only two locos pair?

Make sure to stop your train exactly at the marker. Dovetail made it quite difficult at times as those are placed very close to the signals. Use waypoint distance guide and stop when it's as close to 0 as possible or turn on objective markers in options to see them on the tracks.
