Train Simulator 2021 - AP Class 455 Enhancement Pack Vol.2 Review

Ikr, they all caught us out with how quick they pumped this out.

The acceleration physics are correct for the AC units (to a degree) notches 1-3 can't pull the skin of a rice pudding and notch 4 is drastically over powered! The physics though are a bit to fast accelerating, braking is about right but overall the AC units in game were a bit lackluster, the cab situation for the SW units is a shame but it's odd how it's included with the Thompson unit (needed for the pack) but not used 🤷‍♂️

Fantastic review of SWR stock. I also made a video on the American Railroad Iceberg if you're interested. There was also an Amtrak Inspection train (basically British Rail in the US but mostly underfunded) which ran on Long Island (my territory) for the first time ever for study future service to a popular stop called Montauk. However, the routes on Long Island are diesel and third rail, while the rest of the region is overhead wires. So any service which Amtrak has from Montauk (3rd rail) to the Northeast Corridor (overhead wires) will likely share the same fate as the 2 car SWR express to Glasgow.

I think its a good train in terms of detail of liverys and scenario and sounds

I do like volume 2 more than volume 1 due to the current liveries! I think this pack could've included a DSD, passenger view and more detail and more features.

AC motors are alright I suppose, they did turn out better than I expected as well, but I can see where they are out of tune. Also a shame about the dynamic brake cutting out too early. Maybe the /8 cab isn’t the worst thing they did by just re texturing it but SWR do have some differences in the cab to Southern on their /8’s but considering SWR have the /7 and /9, they could’ve at least enhanced the Thompson one, preferably a new cab but apparently that’s too much to ask for? Oh well.

Bet you are going to be devastated when the Class 455 and Class 456 will be gone as the Class 701 Arterios will be in service. Perhaps extra Class 455s could be cascaded to Southern and the Class 456 to be scrapped.

Tbh I've been sceptical of AP since Class 313/314/315 packs. Motor sounds are off... Even missing some camshaft sounds and no working GSMR on the 313's, yet they've implemented it on other Units???

What a disappointment of an enhancement pack the 455 V2 was. It should’ve been one volume because the quality of V2 is just missing. Even V1 was worth more its price Consistency with quality at its finest
