Norfolk Southern Train With 4 Locomotives On Tight Curve Railroad Crossing. 2 Locomotives Are In The Middle Of The Train. CSX Auto Racks Train With Locomotive In Middle. Union Pacific Railroad locomotives on the next to Norfolk Southern freight trains. One train goes under me and I walk from side to side over the train to get some awesome views of the cargo.
These trains are in Kentucky. The first 3 are in Walton and the last one is in Erlanger. 3 of the trains have DPU locomotives. DPU stands for Distributed Power Units. These locomotives can be in the middle of the train, at the end of the train or anywhere in the train and are controlled by the engineer in the leading unit. Yes, there are exceptions to everything.
The first train is a southbound NS train at Locust Street in Walton. It has 2 locomotives on the front and two DPUs in the middle. The train is running on the NS Rat Hole Line between Cincinnati and Chattanooga, Tennessee.
The next train is a CSX auto racks trains with a mid train DPU running northbound between Louisville, Kentucky and Cincinnati. It is also at Locust Street.
The third train is a southbound NS train at Locust Street. Then while heading home I heard a train come over my radio on 160.950 and decided to catch it in Erlanger, Kentucky. We see the Norfolk Southern train heading northbound at Garvey Street. I walked over the train from side to side to show what is in the train and what it looks like from above. The bridge that I filmed it from and the sidewalk are maintained by the Norfolk Southern Railroad.
