Hopfully he likes it and you guys can work well together I started at 21 in a shop as a prepper. I’m 25 and run my own shop now. Not a lot of young people doing body and paint, makes it easier with a good teacher that’s not a jerk about everything lol

At 19 I was fortunate to have a shop owner give me a chance. I learned from a heavy set biker with full beard and braid down his back. He stuck a spray gun in my hand and had me paint the side of a car. He stood behind me and talked me through it. Best way i could have learned. Picked up more skills and techniques over the next 30 years. I owe him a lot. He was patient and thay made me stick with it. One tip. Focus on the quality first then move to picking up the speed. Also, I find it helps to neatly fold my wipes when cleaning panels. You know what side is what and you can flip and fold to minimize contaminants. Always check paper grit. I saw a prepper use 320 for a tricoat blend panel. Good luck guys!🤙

I remember my first job in the paint shop was using scuff paste and grey Scotch-Brite. Rubbing panels for the painter for blending Prep de glossing panels and watching him paint cars was fun learning

I've got a cousin that works for me...this kid reminds me of him. When he started with me I owned my own construction business......he was 18....when I decided to ditch the business and start doing car restoration full time I brought him along. That was over 5 year's ago and he picked right up on it.... always showed up on time or even early....great kid that doesn't mind working. Hopefully this kid works out .....seems like a good dude. There's still a few young guy's that don't mind hard work....but not many 😁 . Keep up the good work.... always enjoy the content you put out

Honestly I never seen a first day new staff to be so productive. Usually the first day most of them are wandering around and doing little things and stop whenever they are done.

Hey! I have a question! In my experience, I have been scorned harshly for laying down the yellow tape in a "straight line" fashion, rather bend the tape back, so that when the primer is applied it leaves a finer/softer edge. how do you feel about this ?
@kandyman5315
@kandyman5315 3 месяца назад
Both work as long as you don't prime up to the tape. I like to mask a bigger area so that you won't have a problem with that . . Never prime up to the tape,👊

I got into this trade when I was 18 I’m 28 now and I worked for a painter who taught me everything I know and turned me from not knowing how to spray a aresol can of paint to being out on my own as a painter for 4 and a half years now.
