Hello everyone, it’s Cody from Russell Tree Experts here to show you one of the cool benefits and things we do over here at the company. Once a month we have paid training days for our employees and for the month of July, we had our training day on our tracked lifts platform basket that we like to call the spider lift. Right now, our employees are practicing and operating this machine in a safe location before we take it out to an actual job site. This fine piece of equipment weighs 6,900 pounds, has a driving speed of 1.5 miles per hour, maximum weight capacity of 300 pounds, maximum working height of 72 feet, and a maximum side reach of 34 feet. In general, a spider lift is used access tight locations or difficult spaces. In our case, we use this spider lift to assist in our tree services. We primarily use this machine when working around weak or dying trees that may break apart when climbing it. Also, it has less turf impact and a smaller footprint than one of our bucket trucks.
As you see here right now, we are currently using the spider lift to remove two sugar maple trees in a more safe and efficient manner. If we were to try and climb this tree, we would be putting ourselves at risk. Overall, this is a really handy and useful machine that helps to increase productivity and safety at the same time.
