It was good to see the old H&R M12 in action. They sure do have a fine trigger like you said. Thank you for this and your other videos highlighting some good strategies to improving--they are very helpful!

A note to the viewers, there is a very popular RC Flying Field right adjacent to the rifle club, so that noise in the background is the sound of the glow fuel engines making their turns to avoid going over the range. Nice overview Dennis. I agree airgun and rimfire can be very valuable to high power shooters and a great sport in their own right.

We used to buy a box of everything, every year and whatever one grouped the best, we would buy enough of that lot number to last all year. Then after that you play with action screw torque and barrel tuners

Thanks for showing the sizes of the bulls. You shoot all 3 bull sizes with the same front aperture size? So the white space between the front aperture and the bull will be different for the 3 sizes?

Yup. That's Mini-Palma. You shoot a bull, then a spot, then a speck. It's particularly challenging with an M-1 Garand. Yes you can do that with a full power rifle and yes it really helps to have young eyes. With a match aperture sights rifle, it's not that bad. The front aperture has a low power diopter in it that makes the bull bloom a bit to keep the eye comfortable. At full distance Palma, I put a stronger diopter in the front aperture to keep my eye more comfortable in the same manner at actual 800, 900, 1,000.

Good video. Do you fire 5 shots at each bull? What was your score?

LARR used these newer NRA mini-Palma targets last weekend. These are the ones with sighter bull and three record bulls to put 5 shots into each per stage. Then change to the next sheet. I use the older everything is on one sheet version for practice sessions because I have a box of them.

I left for lunch before the targets were scored. I’ll find out later.

Another thing, my CLE .22 upper was a great purchase for Hp training. What make is yours?

Mine is a Model One. The CLE’s were unobtanium when I got it. I did remove the front tower and replace it with a White Oak has block. I use it to mount SCATT or Mantis X sensors to the rail.

100 yards with a 22? That's just mini HP. My Cooper 57M 22 does sub MOA at a 100 all day long. Now 200 yards with a 22 would be a mini Palma!

Glad your gun will hold sub-MOA at 100. The old CMP surplus H&R M12 does too when I test it off a bench with the right ammo. It’s the best way to test ammo. I congratulate you on your excellent Palma shooting results in the prone position with a sling and iron sights using your rifle. Good shooting. Note that the mini-Palma match i shot is a regulation target that specifically says 100 yards on it. I have shot 200-yard smallbore matches on the A-2 target. They are fun.

@@CMPInstructor That's sweet! But no, I was referring to the inherent accuracy of my Cooper 57M 22 that I bought almost two decades ago gets off the bench. It's setup as a varmint/squirrel gun with a Burris 32x scope with surprisingly good glass for $800 back in 2004, and only has a Ching Sling on it, not set up to shoot as a full on match rifle with hand stop rail and shooting sling swivel. But interesting enough though I bought a Browning T-Bolt target rifle with a heavy stainless steel barrel last year for about a $1k to get into 22 long range precision matches and inlaid a hand stop rail in the forend, but unfortunately it shoots like crap, my Cooper can shoot circles around it 🥺. Obviously something wrong with the barrel. I'm going to try fire lapping the barrel the next time I get a chance to get to the range.

@@Oldhogleg You are quite blessed to have a Cooper rifle. I’ve encountered a few and they are remarkable. Superb examples of the rifle. As much art form as tool. I’m not surprised it’s a performer.

@@CMPInstructor You're so right about that, I do feel very lucky, it's definitely one of my smarter purchase decisions, and one of my most cherished arms. I ordered it with AAA grade walnut and a polished blued finish. The high gloss black finish Burris scope matched the rifle's polished finish. A couldn't afford to replace it now days. Looking at Cooper's website that same rifle costs twice as much as I paid for it back in 2004.! But I also regret not buying one of those Kimber 22 rifles from CMP back in the 90's. Been kicking myself in the ass for the last two decades! 😐
