I know you get advise, a lot. Hopefully this helps. If you will drive your hips into the center of the ring and keep your upper body back, you will be able to get your right down and flat, instead of being up on your toe with your non-reverse. If you get that right foot down flat you will be able to block and do the standing throw you do in the non-reverse. Stahl does this really well. So does Dacres. Their chests don't get in front of their hips. You are just hitting the front with your weight already transferring to your right block. This forces you up on your toe and makes it so you can't block. If you can keep that weight behind your block leg and get the foot flat you will be able to get a much bigger throw.

I remember Mac Willkins, John Powell and Al Oerter throwing 40-50 meters with a standing throw. That's 2/3 or almost 1/2 of the total distance. If that is still true with today's throwers, working on the standing throw is absolutely fundamental to long throws. Where else could a thrower add distance so easily?

looking good ! your non reverse throws are solid, you are more in control and finish big!! you may want to keep that up be Like Robert Harting!!!! Nice work

Great video. Used to coach the block of the non throwing arm - I described it as block a punch coming into to the face. Think you should stick to non reverse. When you switch to reverse your hitting early and not getting the big block .

Thanks for the advice. My reverses go farther than my nons even when I miss it though and I’m not about to just give up working on technique at the very end of the throw. Just need more reverse reps.

On you nonreverses you ease off your right leg moving to the front. On your reverse throws you are much more aggressive with the right to the front and hit a better position when right lands at the front.

I don't know if this makes sense but it appears to me that when the discuss flies in line with the 4th overlight light, as seen from the video, it goes farther.

how much do you think head position influences release angle? I was noticing your line of sight on the profile slo mo but I'm almost thinking it helps you gain a better angle than the lower throws you referred to at the beginning of the video?

Looks great! I have a strange question. What are the dimensions of your indoor disc ring? I’m looking to put together something like that for my high school throwers, but want to get the dimensions right. I don’t mean the dimension of the ring itself, but the actual wood it sits on. Any help in this regard is much appreciated! - Charles

Yeah I couldn’t tell you the plywood size for sure but I’d imagine it’s just a 10 foot sheet since the ring is 8’2”

@albertorta5222

I’m just starting to notice something that might be really beneficial. So out the back do you think about “going fast” or just trying to get balanced over ur right and push to the middle where u can then spin on that axis and finish?
@LifeofJY
@LifeofJY 3 года назад
Next video I’m going to talk about the back of the circle because that’s where a lot of my set up for the release angle happens. But yes one of the big cues is to get balanced over my right.
