Great video, these are some really good tips! I'm debating if I want to try speed puzzling myself, my normal style is very relaxed and slow so it'd definitely be an interesting change. Best of luck in the competition!

There is a Value vs non value video on Lean made simple channel. I just think about how it is related to speed puzzling. What is the real value? Normally there are some standard process steps, unboxing, flipping, sorting groups based on edge/non edges or pattern or color. Then assembling small groups, or makeing first the edge. A lots of trial, rotating.... In the ideal world, every piece is flipped, and we know the exact location (no need to lookfor on the image), and can move there. This is the value. What are wastes here? finding, trial, put back, trial again, move small assembled parts, moving flipped and grouped pieces because we have too much inventory and we dont have enough space on table....😀

Thank you for sharing. This is a very interesting way of looking at speed puzzling. Never thought of it that way.

I’m definitely not a speed puzzler, maybe some day! Great ideas.

All very good ways of how to do puzzles. It's always a good idea to have a variety of methods that can then be applied to a puzzle. I hope you will consider each of you moving round when doing the team event, so that each person gets to see a different part of the puzzle. Good luck with the competition and enjoy yourself.

Great strategy you have. ❤ Will the Canadian puzzling competition be videoed for you tube? I hope so!

Unfortunately, there won't be any streaming on RU-vid for this event but I will be doing my best to film as much as possible and then release it on my channel.

@@thepuzzlingcanadian I wonder if Russell will video any of it on his channel. But then again he may be too busy organizing it. He did one during the spring or summer that he just organized, and I thought you participated in that one. I enjoy watching speed puzzling but have no desire to participate. Im too slow. Even so I hope you can film some of it. You may be too busy puzzling. Have lots of fun!

@@lisacockrell4606 I was speaking to Russell and he said he will be getting some one to film as much as possible for his channel.

Very good! A lot of awareness you have of what to do and a methodical approach. Bravo! I don't speed but i do use these for mental agility. I would suggest having a prop for the box so you and all your team mates can see the image easily. Also figure out how to open the sealed box quickly 😊

Thank you. Those are excellent suggestions. One of our team members is very good at opening the sealed puzzle quickly but I might need to look into a prop for that box.

I don’t remember where I saw the tip but one tuber suggested building many 1k pc puzzles so that when you do a 500 it will seem small and more manageable.

I think I remembered hearing that somewhere also. I might need to start implementing large piece counts in my part two of training. Thank you.

@@thepuzzlingcanadian curious to whether that would work and if it could be tested somehow. Fascinating. Good luck!
@thepuzzlingcanadian

@@dhurd4099 To test it I would think you need to do several 500 piece puzzles for a period of time and record your piece per minute. Then start working on just 1000 piece puzzles for another time period. After awhile of practicing with the 1000 piece puzzles, go back and do some more 500 piece puzzles and see if your time is better. The question is how many 1000 piece puzzles do you need to do before you start getting better. I suspect it would be different for each puzzler. I might just need to test it one day.
