Training Tip: How to Tie Down an Airplane 

The third knot is not to keep the rope from flapping into the plane or flopping around. It is to maintain pressure on the lock knot above it.

Just use the Boy Scout Taut line hitch. Works on tents as well as airplanes while allowing you to adjust how tight the airplane is tied down as the rope expands or contracts if it is wet

nothing is locked down in those knots. So many better choices out there

Beware: This set of knots will work MOST of the time. It will not keep the aircraft secure with a great deal of buffeting indefinitely.

This doesn't work well with nylon rope
