Lovely. Spent the summers of 88, 89, 90 down there. It where my dream of becoming a train driver came from. 35 years later, I'm doing it on thebeast coast mainline. Thanks for sharing.
antman09ful1 Cheers Mike, sadly those days have long since gone, it was always a pleasure to be on the sea wall at Dawlish & Teignmouth, now all we have are units and very few loco's to film...Bill
Robert,. sadly nowadays the variety of motive power in the Southwest is now a thing of the past. it appears that it's now Units.Voyagers, and of course the much liked HST's. Thanks for looking/commenting. Regards...Bill
The power car at 3:58, with full yellow end and white roof, is 43038, the only power car so treated to a white roof, apparently to test the durability of white roofs in service. It just didn't look right.
***** Dave, the area from Starcross to Teignmouth, the ride along the sea wall is nothing short of spectacular, it was always a pleasure to walk the wall from Dawlish Warren into Dawlish, and film or photo the various workings, great days during our holidays many years ago, thanks for looking/commenting, cheers...Bill
Ernest Johnson Cheers Ernie, thanks for looking/commenting, glad you enjoyed watching, I am sure you will enjoy your ride along the coastline from Starcross to Teignmouth in September it's spectacular, something you will never forget, take care...Bill
Great footage Bill! Plenty of Valenta whines and great to see the late lamented 50s in action + 47s and units. Excellent positioning giving you good sight both ways and the slight mist, I think, added to the overall effect, thanks. Ken
Cheers Ken, the area around Dawlish is the perfect place to film, I am glad I did so all those years ago with various classes of loco dwindling, we don't have the same variety today which is a pity, thanks for looking, and you kind comment, much appreciated...Bill
Cheers Jamie, The Inter City Livery was a very popular livery, as you say simple but effective. Thanks for taking the time to view and comment, much appreciated. Regards...Bill
