This was an absolutely fantastic afternoon visit to the beautiful station of Barnetby located in Lincolnshire. The station still operates using old Semaphore signalling which really goes down well with the surrounding area. The passenger companies that can be found here are First Transpennine Express working services to Cleethorpes and Manchester Airport and East Midlands Trains working services from Newark North Gate to Grimsby Town.
On a good day you can catch an amazing variety of freight passing through, today wasn't so good but I still managed to get a great amount passing by from DB Schenker and Colas Rail.
DB Schenker were working coal, biomass and oil trains, the single Colas train was also working an oil train.
The station itself serves three lines; Newark North gate to Grimsby Town, Sheffield to Cleethorpes and also the South Transpennine Route.
This is definitely a station I am going to be back to, although unfortunately the next time I come here the semaphore signals will no longer be in use as Network Rail are replacing them with the modern LED signals that we've all grown accustomed to.
The weather was fantastic for filming but my only compliant would be that of the position of the sun, facing West I caught an awful lot of glare from the sun.
My next station is going to be Stourbridge Junction, I don't know what to expect there as this is a station that I have been asked to film at. But I am looking forward to it either way. After that I will be visiting Five Ways station as this is another one I have been asked to do.
Thanks all very much for watching and I hope you all enjoy it. As I previously said I will most certainly be coming back here next year.
