This video (and subsequent videos) takes us up to the north of England close to and around Manchester, starting here at Heaton Chapel railway station. A small 2-platform commuter station, it was first opened as 'Heaton Chapel & Heaton Moor' in 1852 by the London & North Western Railway (L&NWR), before eventually being renamed to Heaton Chapel by British Rail in 1974. The four tracks with two fast lines in the middle are part of the busy 'throat' route in and out of Manchester Piccadilly.

The station has minimal facilities, though does have a ticket office which is closed at weekends. There's also a small convenience store at road level in the original station building.
