Welcome to 11 minutes of non-stop action in this fast train special from Tamworth. No stoppers just the best passenger and freight action at speed.
Tamworth is the host for this special. The station sits at the crossroads of two busy lines. The lower level serves the West Coast mainline between London Euston and the North West, North Wales, and Scotland. The upper level of the station (Platforms 3 and 4) has services to Birmingham and beyond and in the other direction the East Midlands and further afield. Both lines have freight traffic.
In this video, you will see trains from Avanti West Coast, West Midland Railway, Great Anglia, Cross Country, and freight. Trains include Class 66, 70, 220, 221, 390 720, and 730.
Filming took place on a weekday between ~9.00 am and 12 pm.
Verdict: A great location with good sight lines from the North end of Platform 1 for the WCML. The XC route platforms did confuse me at first especially as it was my first visit. The station has no ticket barriers, so entry to the platforms is free. All four platforms are narrow, so keep safe. Toilets and refreshments are available.
