Context for the Centennial I bought at York. It's an MTH 20-2980-1 D.A.P (Dealer Appreciation Program) special UP DDA40X #6936 advertised in 2009 and delivered in 2010. The engine is equipped with Proto-Sound 2 and I believe was one the last few engines to be given PS2 before the company fully switched to PS3. These retailed for $699.95 (2009-2010 MSRP mind you). I found this in Silver Hall and the guy had it priced at $350. Although I'm not a big UP guy, I do have a soft spot for #6936 since it's the only Centennial to have been preserved in operating condition and well, $350 is not a lot for and engine of this size. The box has very minor wear, but the engine is ABOSLUTELY pristine; even the original battery still works fine. The guy after finding out I'm active military even knocked off $20 bringing the final price down to $330. An absolute score! This is one of those engines I would've never imagined buying for such a low price given these are desired by many UP enthusiasts in the 3-rail arena.
Awesome video Larken. It was great meeting you and all the guys with you. Glad you had a wonderful experience for your first York. Hopefully you make it again. You guys are always welcome at the club when you’re in town.
Thanks Art! Glad we got to hangout at the event! You definitely got a good deal yourself with the Blue Comet! Hopefully I’ll be back to York in the near future!
When goin to a Train Show the Weather is Not a Problem cause It Won’t stop the Driving Force in us And Yes Being Traintarded is Mandatory And Drueling Is Also Allowed.
I also traveled from FL to PA to attend the York show and we also stayed at the Yorjtowne Hotel . I have to agree with you at being overwhelmed at seeing the number of trains and layouts to see at the York train show. All I can say is that I can't wait until I can go again next year.
@@trainsoflark likewise, it was a beautiful hotel, but the main event was the York Train Show. We don't have too many train shows in the Palm Harbor/Clearwater area here in FL. The largest show is around three hours away in De Land FL.
Awesome York show trip recap! I’m jealous but in the best way watching all the fun all of you had. Thanks for recording and sharing such an incredible adventure!
Hey, Larken, great video! You really captured the essence of the York Meet! It is certainly about trains, but the people are what makes York so special for many of us. I am so glad you were able to make it to the event! Until next time, I hope you will take care and keep up the great work! Bill B. PS Love your new K4!
@@trainsoflark Yep, "One can't have too many box cars is my mantra!" You too, remember you are going to need them for this year's Holiday Box Car Challenge. I'll be depending on you to help get the word out when the time comes! Bill
Lowly grasshopper... York is best attended on Thursday when the noobs are still in transit and the halls are clear. I bought all the good stuff before you even shot video! LOL
