I don't think people today quite understand just how massively impactful this classic was when released. This wasn't just like any normal movie :-)

This movie so electric. A film about heroin addiction that is ultimately so hopeful. The tone is killer.

I really prefer the old version. There was a dullness in the colors of the original print that was more of a fit for the themes and enviroment. That dullness made you understand why people would want to do heroin in a place like that. This version is far too colorfull, adding a lot of blues and cold colors that were not in the original. They also added way too much shadow, for example in minute 0:55 I see less textures and details of the set, which is essential for the storytelling.

The soundtrack was dope

I wish I could go back to the year it was released - the world was far better in the mid 90s.
