Now THAT’s such a power move from Serato, probably not officially supported by Native Instruments though, might be just serato dipping their toes in to see if NI reacts, as a response to the new traktor software

The original X1 released in 2010 had official Serato support and even a Serato overlay (a plastic sheet with different labels for the buttons) in the box.

Call me old-fashioned, but there used to be mappings for practically every MIDI controller on the market for every DJ software. DJ Tech Tools, Traktor Bible and a few others were well known for custom mappings, but the manufacturers also offered them.

Seems to me like a response to the Alpha Theta situation. If they do this for all things Rekordbox and Traktor, I can see Serato being adopted by a lot more DJs.

Both S2 and S3, including the Reloop Mixon 8 Pro, ddj 400, ddj200, FLx4, DJM A9, Denon Prime 4+, Denon SC Live 4, Live 2, And many more are compatible... Serato now works with alot of controllers it didn't work with in the past... This is official yes.

Imagine if traktor started adding some new mappings for new hardware it would be like the good old days when there was TSI files for loads of hardware.All I need now is for faderfox the make some new controllers for traktor 4. NI need to take note here and map some new gear.

If you have a S2 MK3, the best budget controle, you have Traktor, Serato and DjayPro, the only missing one is Rekordbox. And you have the ultimate budget controler

NI allowed hardware to work on Serato because it unlocks an entire new market to which they can sell hardware to, beyond the existing Traktor hardware users, this simple agreement just sold them millions of more units.. my thoughts

Serato just put out a video announcing this. My considerations, because actually being the target group here: I'm on a Traktor Kontrol S2 MK3 controller that came with Traktor Pro 3 DJ software included and I actually want to upgrade. Which leaves me now with the following options: 1. Go Serato DJ Lite for free. Is this really an upgrade though over Traktor Pro 3 DJ software? Sure Serato DJ Lite has a few newer features but misses out on a lot of essential Pro stuff that you already can find in Traktor Pro 3. Not to mention that the latter was purposely build to work with that software. 2. Go Traktor Pro 4. This is a single 75 euro/dollar upgrade for me that brings this software much more in line with its competition, including Serato. 3. Go Serato Pro. It still misses some Traktor Pro features that Serato only offers in its Suite version (lots of FX, DVS) but is also ahead of Traktor software in other departments. Except it's way more expensive though. Not considering even more expensive subscription options from Serato, it boils down to USD 249 for Serato Pro vs USD 75 for the Traktor Pro 4 upgrade. 4. Go Serato Suite. Feature wise this the Serato version could probably considered to be the most of a straight upgrade over what Traktor Pro can offer (still not in every department though). But it will cost you an insane USD 449 according to their website and the Traktor controller (which costs less) is still not optimal for it. See my problem here. As much as I would be willing to take Serato in consideration with upgrading my current Traktor set up, it still really is a hard sell to switch platforms with this hardware, even with the new hardware support by Serato's latest version. Not to mention library export/import headaches and the hardware not being designed for Serato in the first place. So IMHO at best this update could be considered a move by Serato to try their Lite software on your current controller. If you really want to change platform though, you're probably better off buying a dedicated Serato controller that unlocks the Pro version of their software.

Simply put, they are trying to get new users signed up. Looks good for potential buyers.

If they could do this they should be able to make at the very least a stripped down version of serato DJ for their discontinued cards kinda like how Apple continued support for their older devices for so long with reduced features.

Always wonder why Traktor takes so long to certify other Pioneer Controllers like XDJs and DDJs.

Hopefully Traktor will soon support the DJM S7 & S9 and the Rev 5 because there are no screens on those devices. Potentially the Rane One and the Rane 70 too.

I wonder if Serato is going to Virtual DJ way... and try to work with more hardware. Only makes sense if you are a software only company. Also works out great for NI who can now sell more hardware too.

Such an odd update but one that was never out of the idea with all of these devices having midi support. Traktor: I’ll keep using you but give/build the sdk or whatever for other companies (Algoriddim) to give the s4 mk3 support

Pioneer ProDJ Link unlocked for all DJ software platforms! so the onboard beat FX that live in the mixer can receive beat grid info straight from the laptop! Pioneer said no to this idea at a meeting a few years ago as they wanted to keep this feature for the pro CDJ kit. I believe this wouldn't damage sales to the flagship range as clubs and festivals would still order the industry standard tech! By unlocking Pro dj Link to work with all DJ software platforms would generate tones more DJM sales to a much wider audience. Even if they just made it work with there own Rekordbox DJ software. In fact if Pioneer did this for RB DJ software they would clean up!

How about the crusial thing that misses Serato, a real quantize? You also mentioned that before. that smart cue is far from smart. How many years will take them to make something that every other software has ? A constant working sync/quantize.

Unless i am missing something....I tried remapping a few basic things on a S3 with sdj 3.2.1 and it does not work. Problem seems to be that the S3 does not show as a midi device anywhere on mac midi studio, nor on windows 11. I found no relative info online yet.If anyone managed to map an s3, please share how and what to do

This just makes me feel like we should have had a Dj library standard and midi controller standard mapping since 2010 at least There’s absolutely no reason for each software to have different library management and midi implementation for Dj controller should really be more simple

Does anyone know if the Xone96 can natively work with serato?

Does this mean that midi mapping is now open without a serato controller plugged in? This is the biggest frustration that I have with serato. I own a copy of serato dj pro (not just a hardware unlock) and the the midi mapping is only available if you have a serato comparable to controler plugged in, ie just to midi map a second controller. Midi mapping needs to be enabled just work with anything.l if you have a full license. I have to plug in a silly and toylike numark dj2go just to unlock this feature, this is ridiculous. I don't need serato to do the mappings I can do that myself by writing an xml file. Please open up this feature serato.

I think pioneer DJ or alphateta or whatever is it called these days is hitting 2 birds with one stone here. Since they acquired serato a while ago there's no point in doing rekordbox gear only. Serato or recordbox is sold and used and monies goes to their pocket. As for Traktor controller support i believe they are going for the throat. Many will try serato on their traktor controllers and they might switch. Cost them little but they may get a new buyer in the future. And since it's done with the same update they can always say they never went after traktor as they added rekordbox controller support as well. Just my biased opinion thou. Anyone knows how's the stems on traktor now btw?
