I went down on a tram line just this week. wet weather, turning a corner and the front wheel slipped into the line. The bike just went down. No saving it on a bend. Very dangerous. Luckily it was a slow fall and just cosmetic damage but it could have been worse.
Minimize running parallel to the lines. When you do need to cross then do so as perpendicular and smoothly as possible. Running parallel over the lines and you run the near certain risk that your front will flip out from under you. The lack of grip on the front means that it has no means to straighten out, nor does the rest of the bike. This was not clear?
@@daniel.abedin You could be a bit more aggressive when passing the track. You don't have that little traction on the asphalt that you need to worry about when staying upright. Better to be aggressive on the asphalt than to slip on the metal because you were worried of slipping on the asphalt. (I used to cross a place that had those tracks. And fell once riding parallel to them on the wet)
I don't get it. I don't see anything but a smooth ride. but I do ride bicycles and motorcycles and I know even going over new asphalt that is raised a few centimeters is very scary or even just sometimes small grooves in the road that are running parallel to the road.
@@daniel.abedin at what point? i didn't see any skipping or sliding, just an even smooth crossing of those tracks. i drive a scooter with 110 90 12s so those tracks would scare me, but i don't even see a slight jerk of the handlebar like mine would. at the end i see the whole bike jerk but it seems like just braking and the bike is not on the tracks.
On the dry that is usually true since you have enough traction to "climb" the metal. And also if you always ride upright your tires get wider and decrease the time spent on the metal while crossing. My front tire was slightly underflated and I ride mountain roads and it was the opposite of flat, it was pointy. If that was my bike with my thinned out front tire I would have probably fell if I rode them parallel like he did in the video.
