Good video. I am about to replace the leaf springs in my new to me 1971 Camaro. this video had a lot of helpful ideas when working on this project, thank you.
This job can be done with the TA placed on jack stands. Most of us don't have the luxury of a lift. Jack stands must be placed on the rail of the unibody to allow the axle to extend. Jack stands should then be placed under the axle to prevent the axle from moving anywhere while you are working on it. In my experience with a WS6 the right side is the more difficult leaf spring to remove because of the location of the parking brake cable. It is in the way and the leaf spring must be supported (35-36 pounds of weight) so it doesn't damage the parking brake cable. Carefully move the leaf spring out with a helper by moving it toward the front of the car. The left side does not have this issue.
How did you remove the old shackle on the passenger side without removing the tank? I've completed the drivers side and hate to drop the tank just to do the others side but the space looks even tighter than the drivers side was.
Can wore out pads cause my car to shimmy a little when driving under 20 miles an hour? Someone suggested that. It sounds like I have a tire off balance but I don't. Once I go over 20 it's smooth sailing. I don't get it.
