Trans America Trail Arkansas Section from West Helena AR to Westville OK
Half of this section goes through the Ozark Mountains. Also we visit the Oark Cafe.
This state has everything from plains to mountains.
It took us 2.5 days at a 8-10 hr drive time a day.

As to the "locals put up road closed signs" part. I live about 10 minutes from the Long Pool area you visited. I just wanna point out what the problem is with the traffic and such. It's not so much volume of traffic but the quality of such. That being said the real issue isn't TAT people (since there are like 1 of ya'll every few days tops it seems) nor the adventure riders and such. It is the local/semi local side by side guys. Now I am not saying everyone who owns a SxS is an a-hole, but every a-hole has a SxS. I guess it is just the demographic who buy most of them. The tend to be bought by people who just don't care and are "above" the rules. They drink and ride out in the open. Tear up trails. Litter like nobody's business and generally treat the NF like their own personal playground tearing around blind corners at top speed and getting annoyed when you happen to be there! They leave microtrash everywhere they stop. Little bits of plastic from bags, bottle caps, et cetera. For the most part the overlander crowd has so much gear (lets face it, overlanding is about how much gear can we possibly take with us) that they tend to not leave much of a trace. The TAT folks just get kinda caught up in the middle of what has turned into a serious issue around here. The IDGAF Side by Side crowd.
@BrianRRenfro
@BrianRRenfro 2 года назад
And on the gear thing and LNT, ya'll don't even build a fire that leaves a black spot and I doubt leaving 40 torn off tops of instant coffee packets every damn where! So in this case gear really does help keep things clean and tidy.

I live in Eureka Springs and have a Jeep Gladiator Mohave. I also have a BMW R 1200 GS Adventure. My only problem is deciding which vehicle to do it all on. I think I’ll take my wife and the Gladiator. I’ve already ridden much of the Ozarks section.

Hey, did you need to winch? And did your tires hold up with no flats. I know you guys went through some gas, you guys looked loaded up. Me and some guys from my Jeep club in upstate NY. The beacon jeep club.. are very experienced on tight hard rocky trails and our rigs are built well. Is there pull offs to gas up? We have 2 guys without lockers but are geared low. What do you definitely recommend to bring? Chainsaw,proper gear,food,beer,water. We have air compressors built in our jeeps we all carry tools. We don't have a drone. I don't even think any of us are smart enough to fly one. We're upstate NY hillbillies. We probably will camp but very basic tent fire grill grate camping chairs. Tarps. I heard the TAT trail now goes to NY. But none of us can find it online. And this trail isn't on Google maps. Where do we buy navigation and maps? We don't run snorkels neither. We mostly all have cold air intakes. Is there water crossings deeper than headlights? And how much money should each person have. What's the approximate cost of this trip, food gas. Not asking about broken parts, we can figure what it will cost to tow a rig or the need of a mechanic shop. Just trying to reach out to guys that done it and have important information. Thanks great video. Hoping I get a response back.
@OverlandPioneers
@OverlandPioneers 2 года назад
I’ve only had a winch once and it was during a rain storm in Virginia. There are pretty regular gas stops because the trail passes through small small rural towns. My gladiator is only a sport S no lockers the trail is designed for basic built four-wheel-drive vehicles. The highest I’ve got through a water crossing what’s above the tires. The website you get the maps from are linked in the description of this video it’s the TransAmerican trail website. I can’t remember how much money each section cost to be honest. Especially since gas prices have doubled since then. I would definitely bring one chainsaw three is a lot of dead fall through these areas.
