Trans America Trail, Day 21, Ophir Pass Keeps It Interesting

Riding the Trans America Trail coast to coast on our Honda CRF450RL and CRF450L dual sport motorcycles.
We ride from Silverton, CO to Monticello, UT going over Ophir pass and negotiating the tricky descent down the mountain. Once we get out of the Colorado mountains the terrain changes quickly and turns to rolling hills and then flatlands. We stop in Monticello, UT for the night and stay at the Blue Mountain Horsehead Inn.

I see Ophir was still rocky. Lol. Awesome choice of dinner. Nothing better then sushi after a long day of riding. When you rode the last stretch of Colorado did you ride through huge sections of prairie filled with wild yellow flowers? The meadows were bright yellow. Was stunning to see. You’re going to love Moab. Be ready for the heat.

Man- hard to believe you rode your dirt bikes all the way to Utah- and took the scenic route to boot. Glad all is going well and very curious what Utah is all about. Enjoy.

Did all those at the same time you guys were riding.... Ophir, what a cluster... the county resurfaced Ophir with loose rock.... as you saw. They cater to razors and 4x's, not motorcycles...

The rocks looked like a lot of work but once you got out of them the trail looked real nice which reminds me, how are those tires working out for you guys?

The metezler’s (rear) have done really well, plenty of traction, but they are wearing fast, not sure if they will last for the rest of the trip. The Kenda’s (front) have also done well and are not wearing fast
