My mom used to take repositioning cruises. Great bang for the buck! She also cruised to Russia, Asia and the Middle East. I travel vicariously through her photos! My family jokes that she invented “My mom went to (destination) and all I got was this lousy t-shirt” shirts😂 She started traveling extensively after my dad died, and was way more adventurous at the age of 63 than I could ever be.
A great advantage as an older adult is that there are very few kids. I love my kids, and grand kids, but maybe not everyone else’s. There were less than 12 kids on the Explorer this spring, because school was in session when we left in April.
Thanks for the coverage of your Trans-Atlantic! I’m especially looking forward to the stress-free part, and also to not having jet lag when I return. Taking my first TransAtlantic at the end of this month, on the Carnival Venezia.
Leaving on my transpacific cruise on Tuesday. We did the same cruise in reverse 4 years ago. Doing two crossings next year. In the Spring I am doing my first transatlantic cruise with another transpacific in the fall of 2024, that cruise is 45 days...actually 4-B2B cruises. I am going solo.
I am really interested in a Transatlantic. All those sea days sound wonderful. Lots of days to take afternoon cruise naps. Also love the photos during the comment on your comments part.
It's really easy to get your money's worth from a drink package on all those sea days. Lots of loyalty points. Trivia, making friends and going on a bar crawl with them.
I just did a solo 10 day on Vision from Ft Laud to Baltimore. Loved it! Just booked the 14 day on Symphony from Barcelona to Ft Laud this fall. Sooo excited! Hoping to take my 17yo daughter, but won't be too sad to go alone if I have to.
I have done 2 TA's on RCL the past two years. First was FLL-Rome; second NY-UK. I bought the unlimited dining on both cruises, along with a solo inside cabin. Sea days were great, and I especially loved the bumper cars on both ships (Anthem and Odyssey). Played pickleball every day on the second cruise. Neither was particularly crowded, with not a lot of kids. Entertainment was entertaining. The cost of each was less than a business class airfare. I'm doing a 3rd the other way in November on Princess. I bought internet the second cruise.
I will be on the TA from Lisbon to Miami on the new NCL Viva this November! This is my 2nd TA crossing, they are addictive! Not sure if that's good or bad.😂
I enjoy your videos each week. This podcast is also a nice change though. I am able to listen to your story while doing some work on my computer and not afraid of missing you amusing facial expressions. I have opened up a window to look at Royal right now to see what the prices will be this fall for a transatlantic. I have always wanted to try one but worry about where to stay or how long to stay in Spain. It would be my first solo cruise. I will keep looking. Say Hi to Mom, and enjoy the river cruise. That is also on my bucket list.
We did TA from Amsterdam up to Iceland, Greenland to Canada down the east coast to New York Lots of ports. No sea sickness. East to West getting an extra hour every day. Great cruise
Thanks guys for all you do to make our travels easier! I'm looking forward to meeting Chris on the Icon inaugural & will be reading Morgan's book on the plane after I give it to my hubby for Christmas! You both are VERY much appreciated! THANK YOU! Wendy Lady
You've made the idea of a transatlantic cruise rather intriguing, might be something to do one day! And, I love the funny still images you post with the distorted lenses i.e. Bobblehead Morgan, Shrek Morgan, etc - I like how you poke fun at yourself, very down to earth. Thanks again for a great vid!
I thought a longer cruise would be more expensive. We took the Symphony a few days ago and a week really is too short to experience the ship! We had 5 port calls in a 7 day cruise and it was fun but hectic. We wished we had more sea days to rest.
Love your videos Morgan! I just finished watching Ben and David's recap of the same Transatlantic cruise I assume you were also on (Symphony). They had issues with food and service, as well as the venues being overpacked for events and shows because everyone was going to them - - I guess it's one of the "hates" about not having many (or any) ports to stop at. Wondering what your experiences were with regard to what Ben and David reported on. Thanks so much!!
Our experience was a little different than B&Ds, but they were going to different activities than we were, and I think they also went to their meals at different times. Overall, the only time we felt crowded on the ship was at embarkation and debarkation.
I liked the podcast style, that’s not to say we all love your handsome face :) 😂. Thanks for sharing your experience! Look forward to hearing about the river cruise.
Hi I gonna be on Venezia in September 8 days from New York & I will go on carnival legend for Transatlantic from Italy next year in October for 15 days I can’t wait
Hi Morgan. My wife and I just returned from a western Mediterranean cruise on Symphony of the Seas. Stayed in a,standard balcony cabin on deck six forward starboard just a few steps front the vitality Cafe. Starlink on Symphony was great. We are looking forward to a transatlantic cruise.
I'm on a transpacific cruise on Viking Orion right now. Same as in the Atlantic traveling from West to the East we lost one hour for some days. But other than in the Atlantic, in the middle of the Pacific we gained a full day by crossing the date line. And this day was for FREE, yeah! Viking's other repositioning cruise in fall (Vancouver --> Tokyo) is exact the same price but loses one full day. Knowing how it works it was still a bit confusing, as the systems on board couldn't deal with two MON, May 8th's, so the calendars didn't show the correct content, but hard copies called it May 8thA and May 8thB. Keep up your great work!
I'm going on a Transpacific next year. I see lots of people doing Transatlantic, but not nearly enough Transpacific information! We're going Eastbound from Sydney Australia all the way to Vancouver Canada.
I just came back from a 6-day group event at a campground in northern PA and had zero access to internet or cell service. I really didn't like that part of it but loved the event otherwise. The biggest bummer was wanting to share photos and videos to Twitter and Facebook but being unable. I can see how it would be a real issue for content creators.
@@linnm1152 True because once you arrive there you can't just ask to get picked up. But if the cruise wasn't returning for months couldn't you book another transatlantic cruise from another company like Cunard's Queen Mary 2? She travels across the ocean like every week. It's just she doesn't have time left
Very interested in a repositioning cruise. Maybe after I have visited all the places I'm interested in. Love your videos and all your information . Can you tell me if the information on how the spa works. Because they run deals on port days but on a crossing how does that work?
Hey Gena! Usually, if you book a suite, you get some kind of complimentary access to the "thermal suite", which is where the saunas, steam rooms, and that stuff is. Otherwise, you can buy a day pass or a pass for the entire cruise.
Hello Morgan. In your worldly travels, I'm sure you know or have run into Ben and David a few times throughout the years? Believe they might have been on the same transatlantic cruise as yourself and Marcus? Their experience appeared that it was not great as it pertains to food that was in the Main Dining Room and elsewhere along with the overall service. Cannot recall if you have mentioned this topic in one of your recent videos? Sorry if I did miss you commenting on this. Thanks
On our last cruise on the Wonder, we had a really bad MDR experience. This cruise, I would say it was "ok". Here, check out last time: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-k7Ogig4zKIo.html
Hello, love your videos but your Trans-Atlantic cruise theory is massively flawed. No way it could be the cheaper option. What about the cost of a flight? Well over $1200 per person. Then add a hotel for a day or two because you can't fly in or out the day of.
We are doing our 1st Transatlantic from Lisbon to NYC with NCL. Our airfare booked through NCL is $494, it was BOGO. So extremely cheap for a total of $494 for both of us.
I think that you missed the most obvious item. A 14 day trans Atlantic is CHEAPER than AIRFARE if flying business class. If in coach, the price is quite comparable. As pure transportation the price is unbeatable. Repositioning cruises to anywhere are almost always much less costly than closed loop.
Internet advice please! Should I pay for Internet for the entire trip? It's very expensive and some days I might not use it or it doesn't work. 2) Are their places where you can get Internet "as you need it" - or free wifi anywhere on the ship? Thank you1!
@@ScottCundill OK, well, in that case I think if there are things that you are going to need to be checking on while out at sea, you are going to have to get the whole package.
Less crowded ship? I’m guessing, I haven’t been on a transatlantic cruise before. I want to though! Which is better? Europe to US or US to Europe? Tangent: the “butt” cut in had me laughing 😂
The main difference is, when you cruise from Europe to the USA, the days get longer instead of shorter, and the temps get WARMER instead of colder each day. I guess that's why I would say cruise towards the USA is a little bit better :-P
No commercials during the video, but TWO before I could watch it, both for Internet Service Providers~!~ Laughing because that came up in the comments from last week.....no internet for 8 days.....yikes. I've done 3 trans atlantics all between 2003 and 2010. I loved them. I went with a friend on 2 and my aunt on one, but it was so easy to find a "like minded group" to socialize with. You might be disappointed in Princess if your current interests on a ship are slides, flow riders etc. None of that on Princess. Instead, there are usually 3-4 pools, and lots of deck space for relaxing. They do have typical courts for basketball/pickleball and putt putt golf, all free , and golfing simulators ($$). No ice skating or race tracks. Think Queen Mary, but not as stuffy and formal. :) Cheers. Going to start looking for one of those transatlantics returning from Europe in the fall.
