Paul Andersen explains the central dogma of biology. He explains how genes in the DNA are converted to mRNA through the process of transcription. He then explains how ribosomes use this message to convert the mRNA to a functioning protein. He also shows you how to decode a gene by converting the DNA to complementary mRNA and then to the specific amino acids in a protein.

Seriously, you have the easiest to follow bio videos. CrashCoarse talks too fast for me. You talk at the right pace and introduce subjects in the right order. I also love your analogies! Keep up the great work!

garret nelson I also found that CrashCourse talks wayyyyy to fast! Maybe they are trying to shorten the video or cover a lot in a short span of time.

I agree n they add too many random clips to make it "fun" and to make ppl laugh but honestly it just distracts me n I never learn anything. So thank you to this channel love every video

Crash course also has a lot of irrelevant information to make it more digestible, but I prefer to just get the information I need. And crash course gives very broad overviews without many explanations at a chemical level, although that's just my opinion.

Also, what is the protein that join the ribosome to endoplasmatic reticulum and why the "green"complementary DNA strand has Us instead of Ts? Can ypu please clarify this point? Thanks heaps!

I Know that this video is from so long ago, but if im not mistaken, when you begin to decode, the DNA, you use the top strand, reading from 3-'5' as the template strand so, then the mRNA should look like the bottom strand going to 5'-3' direction and just replace all the T with U for MRNA.
