This is a great video for beginners! For those without application rollers such as myself, I’ve found it easier to first cut the application tape and place it tacky side up on the table. Then I’ll lay the graphic onto the transfer tape starting with the middle and squeegeeing outwards on each side. I feel like I have a little bit more control using this method and I tend to make less mistakes. Just a personal preference. Also, when using the hinge technique, I’ve found using a vertical piece of masking tape holds the design in place from top to bottom allowing the graphic more stability when applying each half. Ultimately, my advice is to find which way works best for you and practice until it’s like second nature!

You make it look easy. I’m interested in more details on lining up long cuts. I am sure there are plenty of tricks I don’t know, like when you showed putting up it up half at a time. Mostly, I am having troubles getting things straight.

What type of applications are you having trouble with? I have the time and the vinyl and could make a Quick Cuts video showing some examples! - Josh

@@uscuttervideos I am using Oracal 651 for an outdoor sign. I had problems with a 44" x 3.28" line of text getting it on straight. I did both sides, and one is pretty close and the other is visible crooked. I would love some tips on how to line this stuff up. I have the clear grid tape that USC recommended.

For sending out decals you used a different medium tack tape and put the decal back on the transfer tape backing to ship.... Can you also leave it on the vinyl backing that it came on after wedding? What is the difference?

Some backers don't like to stick as well as others. You could also use parchment paper as a backer too!

Trick I use when making yard signs I save the sticky film from siser easy weed htv after heat pressing shirts And use it as transfer tape. Super tacky and thicker than tape I use their clear transfer tape for all other applications

This video says to use medium tack transfer tape for Oracal 631 removeable indoor vinyl. Your product pages for Oracal 631 recomment HT55 high tack transfer tape, and the HT55 product page mentions using it on Oracal 631. So which is correct?
@uscuttervideos
@uscuttervideos 4 года назад
The HT55 Decorative Film Application tape is not made by Transfer Rite so I didn't include it in this video. The HT55 is also a decorative film tape so it has a weaker adhesive on it than what you will find on the normal transfer tapes by Transfer Rite, R-Tape, and Greenstar. When compared to these transfer tapes the HT55 is more like a low or medium tack tape. That is why ORAFOL only recommended it for use with items such as ORACAL® 631 Exhibition Calendered Film, ORACAL® 8810 Frosted Glass Cast Film and ORACAL® 8510 Translucent Etched Glass Calendered Film, and ORACAL® 8710 Dusted Glass Calendered Film

Hey guys, couple of questions. 1. I'm doing boat lettering on transoms and even though I try really hard to not expose my vinyl to the sun, most times the Florida sun will make the transfer tape become wrinkly and lift from the backer and the vinyl. Any tips on avoiding that? 2. When peeling off the backer for install, most times the vinyl will stay on the backer and not on the transfer tape. This happens to me with plastic and paper transfer tape. Again, any tips?

1.Heat and humidity can cause that issue when transporting them. You could apply the transfer tape on site or find some way to store them until application. When we travel with samples and stuff, we put them in ziplock bags and don't apply transfer tape until we are about to apply them. 2. Squeegee harder. The more pressure the better.

Great video Thanks. I would like to ask for your assistance, if you could make a video explaining what the best way to apply the vinyl without those pesky bubbles.
@uscuttervideos
@uscuttervideos 4 года назад
Wet applications are a great way to apply a decal and make sure all the bubbles are out of it. I am currently working on a video about the new 750RA that has grooves in the adhesive to let air escape so you don't run into as many bubbles.

@@uscuttervideos thanks for the answer. I have tried the wet application with the transfer tape but the vinyl doesn't stick to the surface. I also let it dry for a while. I've tried it on glass. What could I be doing wrong?
@jokerimmortal

I meant to say with paper app tape
@uscuttervideos

@@jokerimmortal If the vinyl was coming up easily, then the wet application fluid didn't dry completely. If you have some of the fluid and some spare time, cut a few designs at home and apply it on a window inside and then hit it with a hairdryer to get a feel for it. Just make sure you open a window so you don't inhale the fumes from the application fluid.

I've found that leaving yourself some excess transfer tape on either side of the decal itself sticking one side of the tape down to the surface and while holding the other side up I start squeegeeing the side I stuck down working my way to the side I'm holding really helps as well as wet applications which I've only done a few times but squeegeeing as much liquid out from behind after applying and waiting for it to completely dry before trying to remove has worked for me.

This was a nice video but really not geared toward the at home crafter but more toward things like a sign business or larger scale
