When inspecting our top bar hives we always keep them vertical. You'll break the combs off turning them horizontal in any angle other than verticle. I'm in my 9th season with top bar hives. I have 8 running full time that hold 32 bars plus a 17 bar queen castle and a couple 7 bar nucs. I started with top bar hives with a top bar teacher. When you do break one off you can make 3 slings with masking/painters tape to hold the comb back on til they reattach it. Good luck

Very nice comment ! Thank you for sharing your tips. Inam just starting - on a very low budget... but with tonns of Building site leftovers. and not many specialised tools. So... to me it looks much easier to do my replica of Kenya top bar...then Langstrath. ... what do you think ... about my ideas , please ?
