Great video and thanks... By the way all the bad reviews for the key shell are people saying that the key is not the right shape which is why your supposed to take it to a locksmith because if all keys were the same then any car can be accessed by a non-owner
Not really. I had a coupe car, and it’s considered “3rd door”, so the trunk button on original fob didn’t do anything. I had to use the “door unlock” to open “trunk”. That’s why I got flip key without “trunk” button. They sell flip keys with trunk button for regular sedans as well.
Good catch! My Scion tC coupe didn’t have a dedicated trunk button, it was opening using “Door Unlock” button, since hatch back is considered a third door... But Toyota keys have 4 buttons anyway. New flip keys are available without trunk button though.
@ 3:09, is the small slot area in the lower right corner where the transponder chip gets placed? cause I didn't see you replace it into the new housing. edit: i see someone beat me to it. it is the small area I am referring to for those questioning.
I am kind of confused. i have a toyota yaris 2011 and is this showing me that i can take out the key and put it into the flip key thing and use the flip key as my new car key. if i do that would i still need to take it somewhere to program it to my car. or is it already technically programed sense it’s from my old key parts lol
It is possible, but you will need a special cable and software for that. Soon I am planning to make a video on how to turn off different sounds on Toyota cars. Stay tuned...
Is this possible to do with a 2006 4runner key? I have the button and the key as two separate components and I’d like to find a way to combine it into one key
I have the 4 button type for 2015 corolla. The winding spring is amazing bad design and the spring come out so many time and take me quite a while to put it back together. When I wind one time, it is too loose but when I wind 2 time, the spring jump out. They should have design something that do not need to manual winding the spring. Anyway, I do it so many time that I can do it next time but 100% not for anyway did not do this before. I am pretty sure whoever did not do this and try to change the battery, they will lost the spring. Also, it depends on the model of the flip key, I saw lot of youtube video trying to change the key because the flipping mechanical /metal/ case slot has broken. Can you give me a update that your key is holding and in good working condition? thanks for the video.
I’m working with with this key for my cousin car 2008 Scion Tc, the panic key button gets stuck, should I shave the button down and hopefully that solves the problem..? Thank you
How can I keep the transponder from rattling around inside the new key fob? I don't like the rattling noise when I use it. Is super glue okay? Or is that not safe?
@@DIYtimeTRD I took it to an electronics shop and the solderer recommended that I don't glue the transponder until I spoke with the dealership because it may cause electrical connection issues. Did you have this issue? I think I'm just going to tape it down with some electrical tape since the transponder doesn't move much.
i would use something more flexible like rubber cement or wedge a small piece of paper or cardboard so as not to affect the electronics. that way it would be easier to take out again if needed.
I have a scion tc coupe too but its a 2014 and the key looks a little different from yours. instead of it having the diamond shape on the buttons, its the lock and unlock button above one another and the red alarm button a little under it to the right. would i still be able to switch it out to this key fob?
Hi! Please help me, I bought a key fob for nissan navara and it seems i did something wrong because the unlock and lock won't work and if i use the key fob to unlock the door it will alarm. Can you help me to figure out where did I go wrong?
ok, searched more and found it: www.amazon.co.uk/Buttons-Modified-Remote-Corolla-buttons/dp/B0831P6MYN/ref=sr_1_213?camp=1789&creative=9325&dchild=1&keywords=Toyota-flip-key-shell&linkCode=gs3&linkId=7952960f301741935b69d3c426e71281&qid=1598217907&sr=8-213 Issue I now have is there seems to be no keyring loop on it, can you suggest options please?
I’m only finding it for older key fob: www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01I41I9Q8/ref=as_li_qf_asin_il_tl?ie=UTF8&tag=yt-trnsfrmflpky-20&creative=9325&linkCode=as2&creativeASIN=B01I41I9Q8&linkId=0fddec7520243c7fce4987e19be55b3a But maybe it’s going to be easier to rig, than using the one for Toyota, cuz the buttons location is at least somewhat the same...
So any key I buy from china can open the door to my car? I did not see you replacing the key itself (what goes inside the ignition) from the original to the new flip one...please explain
