Apparently, This transformer decided it was time to die after the power lines sagged into a tree down the street from my house and smoke and soot blew all over the place. I was walking back from the neighbor's house and I heard a pop like a firework being launched from the ground and then a loud hiss like a blown capacitor. The power lines that sagged into the tree which ending up catching fire was the cause of the transformer explosion. The fire department was immediately called along with DTE. Thankfully, no one got hurt and everyone is safe. The voltage fell below 90 volts and went from a brownout to a complete blackout in the matter of seconds. There's now soot all over our vehicles as a result of the smoke. The fuse cutout did it's job on one side but failed to perform the same task on the other side due to kite string being tangled in the cutout since April. This transformer has been failing since December of 2022 during a Christmas snowstorm and it finally bit the dust with a loud hiss.
