Eva 01 most likely in close combat, but then again Wing Gundam Zero has the most fire power and aerial superiority. If Hero decides to play lame and shoot from super far range the rest of the competition wouldn't be able to do shit in terms of hitting anything in the sky, and Wing Zero can stay very far up to launch devastating blasts.
He said "I am Megatron!" when he unfroze because he just spent the better part of a century listening to little insects wander around calling him NBE1 and took offense. Which is totally in character for Megatron lol..
Also, there’s two possible reasons for why the transformers made by the cube are hostile. One they’re based off of Megatron‘s technology, which influences their behavior. Two they start out naturally feral and are just reacting to the presence of other life forms out of fear.
Oh one more thing. Transformers don’t actually have genders in the original canon due to being machines. Some do mimic feminine traits due to exposure to human society.
"Isnt Michael Bay..?" "Explosions" is such a good way to describe his movies lol also, the human in the helicopter is a hologram. In the Transformers series Decepticons usually go for military vehicles and flying vehicles or predator species of animals for the mechanical superiority where the Autobots go for inconspicuous vehicles cause they usually try to hide from the Decepticons to limit collateral damage. Also their Cybertronian forms look like jets and cars but they're like native modes of transportation on their planet. I wouldn't doubt in the lore that humans probably reverse engineered vehicles from seeing them throughout history. The reason they aren't heavy too is because even though they look like metal they're biological so they arent as heavy as they seem. There is also female transformers but there's only really 2 that get used in transformers media. The WFC and FOC games are VERY good if you've never played them. To answer the question about the other movies, my personal opinion is that they get worse as they go. The first one and Bumblebee are pretty much the only ones I like. And Bumblebee is because they followed the story closer to what we saw in the games.
One other fun fact though I'm sure it was brought up already. In the cartoon, Bumblebee was a Volkswagon Beetle. They got a sponsorship with GM for this movie so all the cars are GM models and that's why they made him a Camaro but, as you saw, they did pay tribute to the original design when he drives up and parks next to the Beetle in the car lot.
As a life long Transformers fan, this series is a far cry from the cartoon and comics these are based on. With that said, this series is peak Bayhem and a guilty pleasure.
The Allspark is a comparatively recent thing in terms of lore, and because there have been so many different versions of transformers it's not always been the same thing - at first it was a word for their afterlife, but I think from this movie onwards it's generally been something that brought transformers to life - most modern media says that transformers have 'Sparks' which are kind of a mix between a heart and a soul, and they're generally seen as being created by artefacts such as the Allspark. (EDIT: I think that the only reason the transformers brought to life in this movie all seem evil is so there can be more carnage onscreen, I doubt there's a lore reason.) Another thing of note is that in most media, human weapons aren't usually very effective against transformers (at least, not the powerful ones), but Michael Bay is very fond of the American military and wanted them to be the heroes. I used to read the comics back in the eighties, and I actually thought this film wasn't bad for a modern telling, but I saw the next two and was pretty disappointed. I eventually watched 'Bumblebee' due to the general perception of it being an improvement over the sequels and I think it may be the best of the live action films I've seen (although it's kind of a reboot).
"I think that the only reason the transformers brought to life in this movie all seem evil" i like to believe its because of how they might have a memory component when they go sentient and dislike the treatment to which they were subject and thus seem 'evil'
The Transformers franchise was originally Japanese, but in a weird way. In Japan there were two toy lines, Micro Change and Diaclone, which had toys with robots that could transform into various things. Hasbro then partnered with Japanese toy company Takara to license these two toy lines and create an all new backstory for them, thus giving birth to the Transformers toy line and universe. This explains why the original toys were so varied with its transformations, why one could transform into a car while another could change into a handgun.
Sounds a little like how the Robotech series came together, which actually consisted of three different anime shows. (Macross + Southern Cross + MOSPEADA) And conicidentally (?) it also had planes and a starship that could transform.
It was actually Marvel Comics and their animation studios (in association with Sunbow Productions) that came up with the back story since they were producing the comic book and animated series.
I saw this movie in 2007 in theaters with no expectations like everyone else. And like everyone else, this movie really surprised me how awesome it is. I hope you continue this series. Not all of these movies are good but Transformers 1,3, and 4 are the best.
Live action movie lore, definitely . Original cartoon lore ... -- well let's just say that Darth Vader isn't the only popular villain with a presence . After all, if it's one thing 80's villains have taught me is that the greater the villain, the greater the hero .
Fun fact: Transformers is a copy of an earlier animated show called Go-bots, but Transformer out performed them so well that people often think that Go-bots is the copy
This transformers movie is probably my all time favorite movie of all time. I just fell in love with it and could probably recite it word for word. Although the following 4 bay movies did degrade in story and cliches, they're all still fun and cool to watch.
It’s my favorite movie too! The story is good, the human characters are actually funny, the score is fantastic, and the CGI is incredible! After all these years, it’s still amazing! The sequels…exist and they’re kinda okay sometimes, but the 2007 movie is by far the best! 😁

The guy Megatron flicks is Michael Bay. Literally.
It doesn't matter how many times I've seen the movie, the scene with Optimus and the other Autobots arriving on Earth will always give me the good kind of chills.
Yes, please continue! I know everyone may not agree, but these movies are a guilty pleasure for me, all the way through. I’d highly recommend giving them a shot!
The original Megatron transformed into a gun. In the cartoon he also shrank so another Decepticon could use him. In this movie they made him into a jet and looks a lot like Skyfire.
Fun fact, most of the time you get a show and then toys to capitalize on the popularity of the show. In the case of Transformers, you had a toy company make a toy, and then created a show specifically as a marketing tool for the toy. That's why Hasbro owns the IP.
also those were holograms inside the cop car aka Barricade and also in the military helicopter aka Blackout they use the holograms to blend in more easily
Megan Fox met Linkin Park after she was cast and they asked if they could get a song or two in the movie. Michael Bay loved What I've Done and put in at the end. RIP Chester
I haven't seen a comment about the whole "All Spark only making bad Transformers" thing, but the explanation is actually brief. Simmons explained that modern technology was derived from what they studied on Megatron, so presumably the whole Decepticon codes got imprinted onto every piece of technology, especially in America.
I had the Police Decepticon toy, on my way down to Cape cod and I get a ticket for speeding, I had the toy with me because I'm a nerd. After the stop I asked the Trooper if he would have laughed if I had told him I had a police escort and showed him the toy. He said I was lucky the stop was over, lol.
The way I remember it (don't remember if official canon or just everyone's headcanon when the movie came out): all technology was reverse engineered from the ultimate Decepticon, Megatron, so that explains why all technology "wakes up" evil.
(Although I'm sure someone has told you already) Bumblebee parking next to the VW Beetle is an in-joke since, in the cartoons, his car form was a yellow VW Beetle.
"Animating these things must be so much fun". Professional 3D Animator here. It's fun to see the end result, the actually animation is countless hours of work and frustration.
Hope you guys come around to watch the Bumblebee movie. Its the best love letter to transformers.❤️ (The Bay transformers arent really...the best or most well liked by the TF community)
Transformers was filmed in New Mexico. Simone needs to vacation there. Every time she sees a movie filmed there she comments how beautiful it is. (No country for old men, Sicario, Contact)
Michael Bay did remove & edit some of the Transformers lore for these films. The best way to get answers to the questions you asked is to watch the 1986 animated film & all four seasons of the eighties series. The film is set between seasons 2 & 3.
Its really nice to see how this movie is viewed outside the TF fandom..... who mostly were indifferent to this first one and hated all the others. The drivers are holograms, to stop the whole 'that car has no driver' reaction since its supposed to be a disguise. The characters have always been different sizes and heights, mostly because the original toys were sold at different prices to appeal to as many kids as possible and so they ranged from really small cars to big aircraft and so the robots would follow this sizing too. The original cartoon mostly kept this relative scale, which lead to all kinds of odd situations such as Soundwave turning into a tape deck and being bigger than Optimus Prime who was a truck. It was the 80s and we mostly just went along with it, but more modern lore talks about mass shifting (although robot height is also fixed, so they can mass shift when they transform to be the right size of whatever they become, but they cant then just make their robot form huge when they need to..... dont think about it too much). As for the biggest, I guess this about the lore and robots, but there are robots that turn into entire cities (Metroplex), robots that are made up of several other robots combining together (Devastator), robots that have additional armour suits (Ultra Magnus) and thats before you talk about the different canon timelines since Transformers gets a reboot every few years as new toys are released or a game or a movie comes out. If you are interested, I recommend 'The Basics....' here on RU-vid from Chris McFeely.
And the movies are a totally different reality from the 80s cartoon/toy line. Initially, Bumblebee was a VW Beetle (which is why thats the car that gets bashed in the car lot scene), Prime was a truck but a flat nosed one without flames, Megatron was a gun, etc. Pretty much all the characters had a total redesign and are not only very different from the original vehicles, but the style and designs are very different from those first designs, less boxy and simple and more angular and spiky..... another reason the OG TF fans didn't really like these 'Bay-formers'.
one thing about the movies versus the animated series. with the animated series, no one died: kids' cartoons. but with Michael Bay, he didn't pull any punches: characters died, and Optimus Prime kicked serious @$$!
"Qatar" is actually filmed a few miles from here at White Sands National Park in New Mexico. Without spoiling, they also filmed another desert location here for the second movie. Myself and a bunch of other locals got to see a tour of both sets and you could still see all the destroyed buildings from the fight in the village. A few of my buddies are actually extras in the military base scenes, "monitoring screens" and whatnot.
Don’t know if someone mentioned this already but in the cartoons, The All-Spark was part of Primus, and made up of the Matrix of Leadership which is passed down from autobot leader to autobot leader and the souls/sparks of all transformers. The matrix of leadership was a point of focus n the 1980’s Transformer movie, where we also learn about one of the two oldest and largest transformers: Unicron. Unicron is planet-sized and a villain. his “brother” Primus, is believed to be the creator of the Transformers, though being A.I., I still wonder how any of these non-organic beings came to be before creating the Transformers.
Bad guys are normally a flying vehicle or machine that can be used for destruction. You will very RARILY see an Autobot that is a flying machine/vehicle
Canonically, the sizes of The Transformers have varied throughout the different continuities ranging from almost human sized or smaller to an average of about 9ish meters tall (30ish feet). One continuity introduced a whole subset of Transformers called Minicons all of whom were human-sized. Larger Transformers have been introduced though, starting with the Autobot's Omega Supreme who stood 18 meters (59 feet tall) who actually functioned as the Autobot's Defence Base, and there was also Metroplex (Autobot) and Trypticon (Decepticon) both of whom served as their respective team's as ENTIRE CITIES in their alternate forms but transformer both were roughly 213 meters tall (700 feet) with Metroplex as a giant humanoid robot and Trypticon as a Dinosaur-like Kaiju. However, Metroplex and Trypticon both pale in comparison to Unicron, who is the size of an entire planet, his alternate form being a massive planet-like structure that eats other planets, grabbing planets with it's pincers and sucking them into his maw. There is also Primus, who in most continuities is almost referred to as a God (same thing for Unicron given his size) to The Cybertronians but in one continuity we actually see that he's actually the planet Cybertron itself and is actually a sort of antithesis to Unicron. There is also The Combiners, Transformers that are actually made up of many average sized Transformers that make up one larger Transformer. But given that they're made up of multiple Transformers I feel like that's kind cheating a bit.
“Semi” in relation to trucks is short for “semi-trailer truck” as such it has the same meaning as the prefix “semi” used in other words I.e., half. In regards to pronunciation of the last syllable in “semi” people in the US use “my” and people in England/Australia/others(?) use “me”.
I find them (the movie series) all very entertaining. The same kind of consistent energy and layered plots, strong characters, with plenty of comedy, too. Fun stuff!
Even with my knowledge of transformers coming only from the 2002 animated Armada, which didn't really follow the established lore of the 1980s series and follow up film, this movie was so epic to see on the big screen in 2007. I would definitely recommend the following films. the 4th and 5th ones are the best but there are some very cool scenes that at least makes it worthwhile. Bumblebee(2019) is my second favorite film of the franchise.
11:15 : tbh, Air Force One's floor is probably the cleanest floor of any US airplanes. Like the "one's could eat on it" clean. So... picking up a fallen treat and eating it... not much a problem, I think.
Not sure about all transformers but Optimus Prime is voiced by the voice actor from the cartoons. He's got an iconic voice. It's a fun movie where everything doesn't have to make sense. If you want to know the biggest transformers, you got to watch the second and third movie. PS. Yes, Micheal Bay knows what the audiences want when he cast Megan Fox......, man she was stupid hot in those years.
Scatman Crothers. Dick Hallorann in Stanley Kubrick's The Shining (1980). He voices Jazz the Autobot in The Transformers and The Transformers: The Movie (1986).
You'll be very surprised to hear what the original Decepticon cause was all about. This movie did not tell you that the Decepticons were treated like slaves by the Autobots on Cybertron. Megatron was their version of Spartacus fighting as a gladiator. He even tried at first to change things democratically running for the position of Prime against Optimus at one point.
Guys! Found about you 5 months ago and i can't stop with your videos, it's insane really. I've been diying to explain the difference in between the "Watchmen" movie and the original novel for too long now, but i think i'll just stick this review. The main difference between the movies and the comics is that the movies are humongously focused on "the human side", wereas the comics/cartoons are about "Transformers". There's humans here and there, but stil. And another thing that nobody pointed in the comments that i've read, is that the "allspark", just creates life. M.Bay made it create ONLY Decepticons 'cuz they are cool, but in all fairness to the actual lore, it just creates life. So, if it's mind gets corrupted by the Decepticons, kills , and if not, it's an Autobot. Although, like humans, they can also choose to change sides. The largest transformer out there its Unicron (140.000 km), that it's implied to be the one who transformed itself into Transformers "earth". (it's a little more complicated than that, but you know, so you get the gist of it). Overall, they're fun cheessy movies with a nice touch. I can suggest for you both to check "Transformers 2 & 3". Beyond that, it's a big "NO SIR".
I actually wouldn't mind seeing you guys react to the original series like you did with Avatar the Last Airbender. It's a goofy 80's cartoon but still pretty good.
Universal Studios has (or had) a 3D-movie/ride based on this movie franchise. It was just so much action coming at you all at once that it was pretty much all Noise, no Signal.
If you are continuing with the series.. watch the original animated movie.. it's very 80s.. the only thing you need to know is they befriended a boy and his dad, and to keep the boy safe they made him a transforming suit so he can keep up with them.. and every boy wanted that suit so they could turn into a car.
My theory regarding the all spark creating decpticons is because earlier on they said they reversed engineered Megatron, therefore unintentionally creating Megatrons evil intent and so a majority of technology has evil inside it
In the cartoon Cybetrone would turn into a giant laser gun that Starscream would use .. the good guys: Optimus Prime the big red and blue truck, the silver car, (Jazz) the black GMC truck (Ironhide), the emergency vehicle and Bumbkebee, Sam's car ..but the are a lot more of them and a lot of Decepticons .. Megatron., Shockwave, Starscrem, Soundwave, Laserbeack, Barricade, they all appeard in the movie
Amanda depends on what type of vehicle they can choose and there's RU-vid videos out there from I think trans theories that he explains unhallowed Decepticons and Autobots get taller shorter during the video so if you want to watch that video you can go look it up cuz I don't have the link for it right now
When the autobots landed u could see the natural forms but as soon as they find some tech they can transform into an combat form (when they walk and talk), the original original tech (car, plane etc) and their normal form the way they looked on cybertron
The “people” inside the transformers are holograms. I was laughing when you would say that Michael Bay knows his fans. I kept thinking wait til they get to the second one. In the cartoon series Megatron’s original transformation was into a blaster that one of his cronies would use. The human that Megatron flicks away during the final battle was Michael Bay. This was a decent set of movies that are getting better as they go. I loved when this one came out that we actually got a live action transformers movie. Two things I didn’t like about the movies is Shia LeBouef (his screaming bugs the hell out of me) and the lack of consistency. They are great as individual movies. One movie I think you both would like is “The Secret to my Success” it’s a Michael J Fox movie from the 80s.
Funny you mention wanting to know who would win between a Gundam and a transfomer. There was actually a death battle episode where Optimus Prime went up against the original Gundam.
yeah cybertronians had technology, they transform into things that's why they know how to already when they get to earth. hence the name "transformers"
