I thought that only happened after, like, twenty years?" - *Goes to Google* - "So they're using worse quality plastic now. F**k."
God d*mn it, Hastak and their QC have strike again, it's also happen to my 35th anniversary Siege Takara Soundblaster and my Kingdom Cyclonus. THE CLEAR PLASTICS ISSUES WASN'T SUFFICIENT FOR THEM?!
When that happens, I just don't buy the figure, that's one of the main problem with people, people incentive scalpers to keep doing what they are doing, just because they can be mature and don't buy the damn figure or console.

One of my first transformer figures was gifted to me and it was the oversized Jin Bao Gravity Builder and it just snowballed from there. Pretty sure my buddy knew what they were doing when they gave it to me 😂

it’s so fun yet so painful and taxing but it’s still nice to gather a collection of them, no matter how big or small, because hey, converting plastic robots are cool
There is NOTHING WRONG with collecting. BUT, when you put too much of a priority on collecting, like it starts to affect your overall health and relationships, then it becomes a problem. But there really is nothing wrong with collecting.

Yep. This is pretty much how it went down with me. I was at a mall and found my favorite transformer. I thought "what's the problem owning just one?" Then I found Optimus at Walmart and then thought, "well if I'm getting the leader, might as well get a few more...oh and maybe some decepticons just to even it out.." it all went downhill from there.

The part with ss44 optimus...holy crap! I completely understand that feeling! I remember when he was only what...$70 maybe $80. People really jump the price on any optimus figure.

At least we model kits builders have the excuse that we build our figures, so it's not just a "buy, play with it once, never touch it again". Let's not even start about custom building
Wow, this video is the first one I’ve seen of yours and it was a bit of an eye opener. I started getting back into collecting TFs a few months ago and I have been overspending. I know this was satire but I want to say “thank you”. I am still going to collect…but I’ll slow down a bit and not get garbage I have no attachment to. Just bought my first Bayverse Bumblebee and was going to get more. WTF am I doing?!? I hate the damn things!
This was an issue for me. But thankfully, I've been able to get all the items I've wanted for years, to the point I'm now fully caught up and lately the lines I've been getting just release more repaints of items I already own. So, I'm safe...for now. Great video by the way.
Honestly I stopped collecting transformers about a year ago, the masterpiece figures are just getting too expensive for me. Also the cardboard engineering is really frustrating me at this point.
As a nerf collector its super hard not buying everything i watch reviews on everything before i buy and am very selective so its not that bad alot of ppl go absolutely apeshit
Never sell your Transformers. You bought them in the first place to enjoy them, not as an investment. Never forget to never turn your hobby into an investment. You collect Transformers because you genuinely like the characters and enjoy the shows, movies, and games. Don’t buy them to sell them later.
There's a difference between scalping versus selling a toy you already have because you don't find it fun or can't find any storage for it anymore. Some people don't like hoarding toys they don't play with and selling them is a way to recoup costs. Additionally, used toys tend to be cheaper than what scalpers charge.
People can ultimately do what they want, my guy. And I wonder if for those who throw around the 'scalping' term actually know what scalping is. Selling your toy for more than it's original retail price when new is NOT scalping.
@@checob224 Yes, but there's a very fine difference between selling an item at exorbitantly higher prices than their MRSP due to created scarcity, and selling at prices representative of the item's natural market value at the respective time even if said value is above its original cost/worth when new. Older toys that are no longer in production will naturally be more scarce and subsequently of higher/inflated value overtime if it has a demand. Both acts of selling enable profit, but are otherwise not the same and hence why the latter should not be confused with 'scalping', which I've seen numerous collectors do. People also forget that some folk may sell unwanted parts of their collection (or buy/sell for profit) to help fund other aspects, for items/collectibles that they actually want.

Yeah my boyfriend is exactly like this, seeing his collection for the first time was a bit overwhelming 😂😂 but he just sold half of his collection so it's ok
Not me, I only collect the ones I find really cool, no matter the line, so when I see my collection I don't have a "why do I have so many of these" moment. It also helps that I own model kits, which unless they are from som specific franchises (fuck off Evangelion), they are really well priced for what you get
when I first started collecting my goal was to get one figure of each character. So like one optimus either a g1 version or movie or something, or like one megatron. Flash back to now and I currently have a bumblebee movie, beast wars, G1 S1S2, G1 S3, bayverse, and a miscellaneous shelf. I've strayed a long way from my original intentions. Not only that but the amount of figures I never intended to get and bought anyways, is astronomically high. I told myself I wasn't getting legacy skids or arcee and they're both currently on one of my shelves.

Lol pretty accurate. I just got to a point where I collected everything I was after save for a few outliers. Got 4 more figures from Legacy to grab, Scourge from Velocitron, and I'm done. Feels good.
Literally saw this as soon as I got my new TFA lockdown figure and giant Soundwave pop in the mail. So far my most expensive one is my comic con exclusive Terrorcon Cliffjumper from the prime series I got in ebay. Searching for G1 megatron, optimus, and Soundwave. And a upgrade kit for my G1 starscream but most importantly a bigger shelf to even hold all of the other figures I have. I have issues
As a fan of transformers with 4 figures, i can confirm this is so damn relatable and actually having a crisis if i want to buy the KO MPM decepticons or Bs03 TLK prime with BmB Grimlock & Scorn.
